This article explores perspectives on risk assessment in the supply chain, identifying tools most used in the literature on risk assessment in the supply chain Two phases were used as a methodological procedure: 1- systematic review of the literature for theoretical survey of articles focusing on the phase risk assessment; and 2- identification and quantification of the tools used for risk assessment. From this, there was a significant number of theoretical reviews on SCRM, however, knowledge about risk assessment is still diffuse, being considered the most critical and complex phase in risk management. The main tools identified were simulation and Bayesian networks to define risk probability and probability and impact matrices and AHP to identify the most critical risks.","PeriodicalId":413394,"journal":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Proceedings","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134445849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there have been many breakthroughs in the quality management field, Statistical Process Control (SPC) is still a widely used tool among manufacturing companies worldwide, following the same principles dictated by Shewhart in 1924. This research encompasses the successful case of the capability enhancement of a critical machining operation in an automotive plant located in Mexico dedicated to the remanufacturing of truck engines, resulting from ex-amining the x̅ and R control charts and directed by the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle (PDCA). The results obtained derived from a comparative analysis of data of two different time periods in the process of machining bushing diameters, where a process capacity increase of 13.08-5 in the Process Capability Index (Cpk) and of 17.2% in the Process Performance Index (Ppk) were obtained. The decrease in expected out of specification parts improved by 72.7%. Process variability also was improved given the 8.33% reduction in the mean range. The research contribution is the empirical identification of gaps and opportunities in the areas of quality assurance and quality control using qualitative and quantitative method-ologies.","PeriodicalId":413394,"journal":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Proceedings","volume":"355 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134464134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Lean philosophy proposes to eliminate waste, removing processes that do not add value to the production flow. This philosophy, which originated in the automobile sector, has embodied other sectors and it has been applied in the administration of the business, in addition to the manufacturing environment. The Lean Office emerged as a result of the companies' quest to become increasingly leaner, which is based on the application of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools in the administrative activities of organizations. This paper aims to analyze the literature on Lean Office (LO) seeking new opportunities and trends for simplifying and accelerating its implementation. For this, a systematic literature review (SLR) was carried out over a period of 10 years (July/2010 to July/2021) identifying the main most cited authors, most relevant journals, and the main research topics, as well as trends of its implementation. A sample of 28 articles was selected based on the criteria adopted by SLR, obtaining 15 main elements identified for developmenting and maintaining of the LO, and it was possible to understand better the current status of its implementation. This study presents an academic contribution about LO from the point of view of elements within to the process and its trends. For professionals, it presents LO factors that add positive results to organizational learning processes, and the possible impact on society of helping the company managers to direct better their efforts. The conclusion is that there is a great opportunity to apply LO in organizations, and there is still a lot of work to be done in order to develop a robust body of knowledge in lean of the administrative processes.","PeriodicalId":413394,"journal":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Proceedings","volume":"89 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132623116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Paladini","doi":"10.14488/ijcieom2022_full_0023_37582","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14488/ijcieom2022_full_0023_37582","url":null,"abstract":". Digital servitization is a current theme that enables new ways of creating value with the adoption and progressive integration of digital technologies, having a tremendous impact on industries, society, and the economy. These technologies applied to servitization allow the collection and intensive use of real-time data from customers, products, and services to offer new solutions. However, companies' offer of digital servitization faces the challenge of managing a complex system in which the actors involved play new roles and develop new capabilities. This study aims to diagnose the main skills that employees must have to adapt to the context of digital servitization. We used several case studies to analyze nine leading digital services companies in the market. Based on this diagnosis, a framework was developed with the main competencies that we found. Organizations can use the framework to support making decisions about hiring employees by professionals in the field with interest in improvement and by academics who aim to expand research on this topic. The intention is not to criticize the current hiring method but to provide a method to complement the current selection process.","PeriodicalId":413394,"journal":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Proceedings","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114573624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pereira, Bruna DA Silva Lima Baptista","doi":"10.14488/ijcieom2022_full_0017_37515","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.14488/ijcieom2022_full_0017_37515","url":null,"abstract":". There is a significant culture of rework during the execution of the work in the civil construction. Given this scenario, construction companies that seek to be a differential in the market, providing a high standard of quality in their services and products, feel the need to standardize their processes and avoid waste by implementing a robust Quality Management System. The standardization is achieved by identifying factors that contribute to the incidence of rework in all stages of the construction process. The registration and analysis of nonconformities in processes and products are crucial. When nonconformities are not treated adequately, and processes are not standardized, waste and high-quality costs are generated. A construction company of high-standard residences in Brazil needs to analyze the impact of implementing the control of nonconformities and rework, since quality costs is high. This paper aims to demonstrate how implementing a robust nonconformity treatment method can reduce rework in this medium-sized construction company. As a methodological approach, a literature search was conducted to identify how companies deal with costs of quality through NC control and rework measurement. A case study was conducted in that construction company. As a result, data from the company shows the importance of effective control of nonconformities in reducing rework. The implementation of non-compliance control evidenced significant improvements and cost/waste reduction. This study is vital for engineers, professionals, and companies working in the civil construction area...","PeriodicalId":413394,"journal":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Proceedings","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130497728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
