Instead the authors reflect on the potential of the camera as a tool for facilitating dialogue with communities and individuals, which allows student film-makers to draw on images and representations that challenge the stereotyped and repetitive images generated in mass media. Furthermore, they draw from their own experiences of working with the visual practice (VP) model where the camera is a research tool.
