The purpose of the study is to obtain nanofilms based on clay minerals and to study the antibacterial activity of the obtained nanocomposite coatings. Diatomite and kaolin were pretreated with sulfuric acid. Silicon plates were used as model substrates. For the first time, multilayers of the composition diatomite/PAA and kaolin/PAA were obtained by multilayer assembly. In the multi-layer, the antiseptic chlorhexidine was introduced, which plays the role of an antibacterial agent. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) determined the distribution and thickness of the obtained multi-layer, the elemental composition of nanofilms was determined by the SEM-EDX method. The specific surface of natural and sulfuric acid-modified diatomite and kaolin was examined by the BET method. The wetting angle was determined by the lying drop method. Obtaining coatings on the surface of implantable systems is one of the promising areas in modern medicine. In this regard, the production of nanocovers with antibacterial properties is an urgent issue in the fight against infectious diseases associated with bacterial growth. One of the modern methods for producing nanofilms currently used is the Layer by Layer (LBL) method. Nanofilms obtained by this method have found application in tissue engineering and dressings. The feature of this study is the use of clay minerals such as diatomite of the Mugodzharsky deposit and kaolin of the Alekseevsky deposit, which are concentrated in the west and north of Kazakhstan. The obtained multilayers were used as carriers for chlorhexidine and their antibacterial activity was studied. Nanofilms of diatomite/PAA/chlorhexidine and kaolin/PAA/chlorhexidine were tested against the Escherichia coli (E.coli) gram-negative bacterium. Thus, the obtained nanocomposite coatings based on kaolin and diatomite can be potential carriers for drugs.","PeriodicalId":41021,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biology and Chemistry","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48402302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, the effectiveness of combination therapy of a new iodine complex (PA) and amoxicillin was investigated. For this, an experimental model of mouse lung infection caused by multi-resistant Klebsiella pneumonia ATCC 700603 strain was used. Therapy was administered for 14 days with amoxicillin at a dose of 10 mg/kg and PA at doses of 20 and 200 mg/kg. In addition, the post-therapeutic effect was assessed on day 7. The level of bacteria was studied in the lungs and blood. The concentration of antibiotic and PA in blood was also measured. As a result, it was found that on day 14 the level of bacteria in the lungs and blood significantly decreased with a combination of 10 mg/kg amoxicillin and 200 mg/ kg PA. 7 days after the completion of therapy, complete elimination of bacteria occurred in the groups of 20 and 200 mg/kg PA in combination with an antibiotic. With the combined effect of PA and amoxcillin, the level of the antibiotic increases, this may indicate an improvement in bioavailability. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of PA in combination with amoxicillin.","PeriodicalId":41021,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biology and Chemistry","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42290922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chemical study of Artemisia austriaca Jacq. was carried out by various methods of plant raw materials extraction. Three sesquiterpene lactones of the guaian type – arborescin, austricin, artausin and the flavonoid 5-hydroxy-7,4’-dimethoxy-6-methylflavone, were isolated and identified from the acetone extract of Artemisia austriaca Jacq. by column chromatography. Only arborescin and austricin were isolated from the water extract of Artemisia austriaca Jacq. The molecule structure of the isolated compounds was established on the basis of IR-, UV-, and NMR-spectroscopy data. The crystal and molecular structures of arborescin and austricin were studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Arborescin and austricin are optically active compounds and have 6 and 5 asymmetric carbon atoms in their structure, respectively. Austricin is a marker component in the Artemisia line closely related to Artemisia austriaca Jacq. Isolation and identification of the sesquiterpene lactones of arborescin and austricin allows us to consider Artemisia austriaca Jacq. as a biogenetically close species to Artemisia of the subgenera Artemisia Less. and Seriphidium (Bess.) Rouy. Austricin is a promising renewable material for the development of original lipid-lowering, antioxidant and antiparasitic agents. relationship, biological activity.","PeriodicalId":41021,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biology and Chemistry","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47819930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study of endangered relict woody plants is a key component of biodiversity conservation strategies. In this regard, the purpose of the study was to compare anatomical features of the vegetative organs of relict Sogdian ash ( Fraxinus sogdiana Bunge) growing in river valleys of the Sharyn State National Park in the Almaty region. In 2020-2021 young individuals of Sogdian ash were sampled, in the valleys of the Sharyn and Temirlik rivers to study, their root, stem, and leaf anatomical features for the first time. The lower and upper epidermis of F. sogdiana leaves were thicker in individuals growing at the Sharyn site than at the Temirlik site. In contrast to that, the thickness of the mesophyll was thicker in leaves from the Temirlik site. The cross-sectional area of the conductive bundles of plants were larger in trees from the Sharyn site. The morphometric parameters of the stem also had different results. The diameter of the roots were twice as large in Sogdian ash trees growing at the Sharyn site, likely due to the growing conditions, since the soil of the Sharyn River valley is meadow, stony and pebbly, compared to the Temirlik River, which is a deposit of red clay mixed with crushed stone and rock remnants. Since Sogdian ash is drought tolerant dry air well, due to its resistance to heat and soil salinity, it can be recommended in order to preserve biodiversity, for landscaping, and for improving ecosystem conditions.","PeriodicalId":41021,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Biology and Chemistry","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42061272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
