The aim of this paper was to determine whether there are significant differences in\u0000the movement and structure of personal consumption in Croatia and the two new EU members - the Czech Republic and Romania and to establish patterns of changes in personal consumption in the named countries. The analysis confirmed a strong correlation between personal consumption and\u0000GDP, and this correlation is stronger in Romania, where the direction of these two rates of change almost coincides. The previous confirms personal consumption as an important category to be taken into account when adopting macroeconomic policies. The analysis, also, showed that the share of personal consumption in GDP is the smallest in the Czech Republic, suggesting that there are some other Czech economy drivers, primarily investment and net exports. Given that the Czech Republic and Croatia are small and open economies comparable to the level of development, and considering that the Czech economy growth is considerably higher than in Croatia, it can be concluded that the model of economic growth in the Czech Republic is better and more sustainable in the long run. The model of economic growth relying on personal consumption as a generator of aggregate demand is not a model that can ensure sustainable GDP growth in Croatia, especially in terms of population decrease. This research investigates whether the macro-variables have an impact on the stock returns in the hospitality industry. The focus of the work consists in causality relationship between four macro variables (consumer price index, industrial production, exchange rate and number of tourist arrivals) and a stock index composed of Croatian hospitality companies. After applying Granger-causality tests based on the VAR methodology, results suggest that only consumer price index Granger-cause stock returns in the hospitality industry in the observed period from July 2008 to July 2018. Further analysis through impulse response function indicates that the impulse responses of inflation meet expectations in terms of the direction of impact. In the second month, stock prices react negatively to shock, implying that higher inflation causes negative stock price returns. After applying the variance decomposition method, a very low explanatory power of consumer price index on stock returns in the hospitality industry was revealed. Jedna od bazičnih mjera koje osiguravaju navedeno je sustav osiguranja depozita kao sastavni dio sigurnosne mreže svakog financijskog sustava. Njegova važnost posebno dolazi do izražaja u uvjetima nestabilnosti i kriza, dok se u tzv. „dobrim vremenima“ podcjenjuju brojni pozitivni učinci. Ipak, sustav osiguranja depozita rezultira i negativnim posljedicama u smislu većeg preuzimanja rizika od strane banaka, smanjenja tržišne discipline, problema moralnog hazarda i negativne selekcije te problema principala i\u0000agenta. Cilj rada je ispitati učinke sustava osiguranja depozita na bankovnu stabilnost u tri razdoblja: prije globalne financijske krize, za trajanja krize i nakon krize. Bankovna stabilnost aproksimirana je mjerama bankovnog rizika (z-score, nenaplativi krediti u ukupnim kreditima). Istraživanjem su obuhvaćene sve vrste kreditnih institucija (ukupno 1 453) zemalja članica EU-a i odabranih država JI Europe. Analiza je provedena dinamičkom panel analizom - GMM Arellano-Bond (AB) procjeniteljem u dva koraka. Given that only 21.9% of the respondents are completely confident in what their vocation will be, while 41.7% of them estimate they will have\u0000middle, low or very low ability to find jobs in occupations they have chosen. The research suggests that a large number of young people in the\u0000Republic of Croatia need services of professional orientation. The most\u0000important factors that motivate young people to choose a specific career are personal interest for that profession, opportunity to have fun, personal talent and an opportunity to meet new and interesting people. Interestingly, a good salary, possibility to travel and opportunity for a fast employment are only partially important factors. Bašan","doi":"10.31784/ZVR.7.1.26","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31784/ZVR.7.1.26","url":null,"abstract":"The Total Antioxidant Index (TAA-I) can be viewed as a wine added value, for which consumers are willing to pay, and as a determinant in developing successful differentiated marketing strategies. This interdisciplinary study aims to harness potentials existing in an evidence-based wine TAA-I and territorial data on wine production. According to the Resource Based Theory (RBT), only above-average performances identify valuable resources. By applying the theory, data on regional areas planted with vines as well as a seminal study ranking thirteen selected Italian wines based on their TAA-I have been analyzed. Wine growing vocation represents a valuable resource only in six out of twenty Italian regions. Eleven vine areas of origin can be assumed as being important, especially in Northern and Central Italy. The TAA-I positions achieved by selected wines are far from being expressed, and thus promoted, by adopting labels based on production traditions. The 1997 sample database adopted by this study needs to be updated with a more recent one and expanded in further researches. Thus, researches of evidencebased marketing, thus hidden and objective quality attributes of wine, are needed and urgent but still in their infancy. The goals are to systematically identify socio-demographic characteristics of visitors to tourist events and identify key motivation for visiting tourist events. In addition, the research aims to investigate the correlation between the socio-demographic characteristics of visitors and their motivations for visiting a tourist event. The research was conducted among the visitors of a tourist event (103 respondents), using the survey method and a pre-designed structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted in April 2017, during the duration of an event which is held every year in the city of Zagreb in the Republic of Croatia. The results of the conducted research have shown significant differences between the different socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents and their motivations. Thus, women are more highly motivated by a desire for cultural experiences (34%), while men are motivated the most by curiosity/desire for new experiences (45%). Furthermore, correlation analysis has led to the conclusion that there is a significant correlation between motivation domains and the socio-demographic characteristics of respondents (gender, age and education). Understanding the visitors’ characteristics and event motivations could serve as a useful tool for event managers. It could help them to develop and manage events, with the aim of improving the event offering to meet the needs and demands of different visitors. Tehnikom visoke prepreke pokušava se umjetno i namjerno izazvanim zastojem u učitavanju početne stranice web-upitnika izazvati što ranije odustajanje manje motiviranih ispitanika. Dakle, očekuje se da će oni ispitanici koji unatoč čekanju nastave s ispunjavanjem upitnika biti motiviraniji, a time i da će njihovi odgovori biti više kvalitete. Do sada je objavljeno vrlo malo istraživanja i radova na temu korisnosti tehnike visoke prepreke (i sličnih tehnika), a dobiveni su rezultati nejasni i/ili međusobno oprečni. U ovom je članku opisano istraživanje koje se bavi utjecajem tehnike visoke prepreke na rezultate web-ispitivanja na uzorku od 235 studentica i studenata Filozofskog fakulteta u Rijeci. Primijenjen je web-upitnik općih stavova prema internetu. Konkretno, korištene su dvije inačice web-upitnika; jedna sa zastojem u učitavanju početne stranice, kao eksperimentalni uvjet, i jedna bez zastoja, za kontrolu. Ustanovljeni su efekti zastoja na odustajanje sudionika, ali ne i na sadržaj odgovora ni na brzinu odgovaranja. Primjena zastoja rezultirala je značajnim smanjenjem broja ispitanika koji započinju odgovarati na upitnik. Zima, Edita Štefanić, Vesna Kovačević","doi":"10.31784/zvr.7.1.23","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31784/zvr.7.1.23","url":null,"abstract":"Na blago valovitim istočnim obroncima Psunja razvijeni su suhi brdski travnjaci, koji predstavljaju jedan od najugroženijih oblika vegetacije, a bili su predmet ovog istraživanja. Teren je blago nagnut prema jugoistoku, južne je ekspozicije, nadmorska visina oko 400 m. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi brojnost i raznolikost samonikle vaskularne flore travnjaka na području Rudine. Floristička istraživanja vršena su 2003., 2008., 2016. i 2017. godine. Na površini od oko 2500 m2 popisane su i determinirane biljne svojte, određena njihova pripadnost porodicama, flornim elementima i životnim oblicima. Zabilježeno je 186 biljnih svojti vaskularne flore unutar 46 porodica i 134 roda. Izvršena je taksonomska, ekološka i fitogeološka analiza. Taksonomska analiza ukazuje da golosjemenjača ima 2 vrste (1,08 %), dvosupnica 155 vrsta (83,33 %), a jednosupnica 29 vrsta (15,59 %). Analiza životnih oblika pokazuje da su najviše zastupljeni hemikriptofiti sa 113 vrsta (60,75 %) i terofiti s 29 vrsta (15,59 %). U fitogeografskoj analizi dominiraju biljke euroazijskog flornog elementa sa 63 vrste (33,87 %) i biljke široke rasprostranjenosti s 38 vrsta (20,43 %).
