A perfectly matched layer (PML) terminated by a zero boundary condition is applied as numerical absorption boundary condition such that with proper PML parameters, three types of modes are well defined and divided into branches in the mode spectrum. The three types of modes can be identified as quasi-guided modes, mainly depending on Bragg fiber properties; leaky modes, having tricky relationship with the parameters of both Bragg fiber and PML; and PML modes, mainly depending on the parameters of PML.","PeriodicalId":409971,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116643091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents two types of C-band microstrip LNA circuits with switches. Both using two stages of amplifier and microstrip matching networks, one circuit realizes the adjustable gain about -4 dB to 19 dB, a gain deviation about ldB, noise figure less than 1.6 dB and the work bandwidth over 200 MHz; the other realizes the adjustable gain about -6 dB to 29 dB, max input power about 23 dBm, noise figure less than 1.5 dB, the max gain about 29 dB at 5.25 GHz, a gain deviation about ldB and the work bandwidth over 200 MHz. Both Archimedean and equiangular spiral antennas are unified in its coordinate equation. The results show that backfire and endure shaped-conical beams can be obtained by different exciting types. The relationship between its radiation characteristics and winding denseness as well as its feeding modes is discussed. With the increase of the winding denseness the beam deviation from the axis augments while its beam conformity deteriorates. To get the best radiation performance, an octo-filar spiral antenna that can generate backfire radiation patterns is proposed.","PeriodicalId":409971,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116409862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
