In this way, we examine historical and literary aspects to understand the feminist thought that transpires in her short story, for example, in its dialogue with the fervent readings of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s works that the author will do throughout her literary career, and the presence of several Basque and classical folk myths that survive in her text. From our point of view, the short story shows an imbricated construction of the fantastic as a vehicle of her feminist discourse that matches the matriarchal tradition of Mari, a goddess who would inhabit the mountains according to Basque mythology.","PeriodicalId":40661,"journal":{"name":"Brumal-Research Journal on the Fantastic","volume":"9 1","pages":"55-69"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2021-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44505029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Para ello, se realiza en su desarrollo un necesario estado de la cuestion a partir de la divulgacion y la investigacion, a traves del cual se presentan desde el marco de la cultura de la convergencia las influencias artisticas, que van desde Dore hasta Miyazaki pasando por el cine de Tim Burton; las influencias literarias, que van desde Dante hasta Poe pasando por los lugares comunes de la literatura universal; y las influencias filosoficas, que van desde Tales de Mileto hasta Hannah Arendt pasando por Kierkegaard o Nietzsche. Con todo ello, se valora el trasvase de lo real a lo fantastico en la obra y se da respuesta a por que para sus protagonistas la rendicion ultima supone la muerte de toda esperanza.","PeriodicalId":40661,"journal":{"name":"Brumal-Research Journal on the Fantastic","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71033815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within this genre, the various adaptations and reworkings of myths and folktales represent fertile resources to cover the demands of an extremely prolific industry. However, despite its popularity as an object of study, research on fantastic anime rarely venture beyond the thematic or historical coordinates of their plots. This article aims to address the relationship between the intricate narration of two significant television anime series— Kurozuka and Puella Magi Madoka Magica —and the representation of the witches involved in them. Through the use of the narratological categories of self-consciousness and the cognoscibility, we apply film analysis tools to delve into the relationship between the Japanese representational tradition and the narrative complexity in contemporary audiovisual productions.","PeriodicalId":40661,"journal":{"name":"Brumal-Research Journal on the Fantastic","volume":"53 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82178158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More specifically, it discusses some fundamental hypotheses on the way the interactive dimension of transmedial adaptations can either increase or diminish the fantastic effect. To do this, we explain the process through which both literary texts become one of the most recognized ballets, describing as clearly as possible the convergences and divergences between these three works, which belong to different artistic disciplines, though at the same time remaining in the fantastic genre. Likewise, a comparative analysis is proposed that focuses initially on the roles adopted by the female characters in Giselle to cover later the roles they acquire in different literary works by Hugo and Heine.","PeriodicalId":40661,"journal":{"name":"Brumal-Research Journal on the Fantastic","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71033608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En su opera prima, el cineasta japones propone una atipica historia de fantasmas, en tanto que la vida de la protagonista se basa en una busqueda imposible de lo sobrenatural. El relato se construye a partir de una solucion formal que representa ese cuestionamiento de lo fantastico: el movimiento y el sonido distante como ruptura de la ilusion. Por ello se han escogido escenas paradigmaticas en las que esas tematicas son representadas. Mas tarde se establece una relacion con la obra de Yasujiro Ozu, para ilustrar la filiacion de Maborosi con ese cine que transita entre lo terrenal y lo trascendental.","PeriodicalId":40661,"journal":{"name":"Brumal-Research Journal on the Fantastic","volume":"8 1","pages":"249-273"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2020-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49213366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
