Attacks on ICS systems keep increasing and their impact leads to human safety issues, equipment damage, system down, unusual output, loss of visibility and control, and various other catastrophic failures. Many of the industrial control systems are relatively insecure with chronic and pervasive vulnerabilities. Modbus-Tcpis one of the widely used communication protocols in the ICS/ Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system to transmit signals from instrumentation and control devices to the main controller of the control center. Modbus is a plain text protocol without any built-in security mechanisms, and Modbus is a standard communication protocol, widely used in critical infrastructure applications such as power systems, water, oil & gas, etc.. This paper proposes a passive security solution called Deep-security-scanner (DSS) tailored to Modbus-Tcpcommunication based Industrial control system (ICS). DSS solution detects attacks on Modbus-TcpIcs networks in a passive manner without disturbing the availability requirements of the system.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130110394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, visually impaired and elderly users, in particular, frequently face daunting barriers. Due to the inaccessibility and difficulty of current online shopping mobile applications, millions of visually impaired and elderly people are unable to benefit from the convenience provided by online shopping. Developing ideas that inspire people is really essential for visually impaired and elderly people to engage in social life. Generic product explanations, unhelpful images, and visually appealing user experiences are provided to average eyes in online shopping, and they are incompatible with visually impaired people, even with visually impaired assistive devices. Due to visual barriers and inaccessible user experiences, the visually impaired are struggling to do online shopping independently. During this COVID-19 pandemic situation, online shopping is one of the better ways to meet everyone's needs and wants. Ordinary individuals can meet their needs and desires, but the visually impaired and elderly people who live alone find it difficult to manage their daily life. Therefore, we have come up with a solution for this by having an online shopping mobile application. Our objective with this application is to assist visually impaired and elderly individuals in meeting their underlying needs and to help them in this pandemic situation. This paper presents an online shopping mobile application for visually impaired and elderly people that allows them to shop online in a variety of convenient ways.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125480884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DC Microgrids are a secure, clean, green, and low carbon-option for applications in many rural and urban locations. Due their resilient, self-reliant, and robust nature, they are preferred against the AC grids. DC grids require fewer power converting stages relative to the AC grids, thereby reducing the AC-DC conversion losses. DC microgrids, unlike the AC microgrids, do not have to synchronize their generators and can provide connection of various types of distributed energy resources such as the PV panels and DC loads through their common DC bus. However, the DC Microgrids are susceptible to the EMI radiation due to the high switching operations of the DC-DC buck converters. This research provides an overview of the MATLAB/Simulink model of the DC microgrid system and presents key results from its simulation study undertaken to estimate the conducted Electromagnetic Interference arising from the interactions between the Buck converters. A standalone Low Voltage (LV) DC Microgrid model was built and simulated with and without the presence of EMI filters. Spectrum analysis was performed on the DC-DC buck converter under both conditions which confirmed that the EMI filters are useful in reducing the EMI effects.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126225077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parametric studies were done to know the effect of different experimental conditions such as the feedstock ratio, catalyst dosage and temperature. It was found out that the highest oil yield was achieved under a 2:3:1 SS:PS:Bentonite ratio and a temperature setting of 330-378°C. Moreover, an increase in the amount of PS in the feedstock resulted in an increase oil yield percentage. Also, bentonite was observed to be a good catalyst in the pyrolysis process. However, the need for further studies is recommended to obtain the optimal conditions for producing the highest amount of oil.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"211 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126097238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data taken by the security camera is very useful because it is used in various situations such as tracking people and objects, verifying accidents and incidents, and observing the weather. The number of security cameras is more effective as the number increases, however, the landscape deteriorates and causes great stress to people. In this study, we propose a system that shares camera information in multiple sparsely arranged camera environments. In the proposed system, it is most important to select the features for each camera because the environment is completely different for each camera (e.g. light conditions, occlusion, camera direction). In this paper, we apply the proposed system to people tracking and show the system's usefulness by verifying various features. In human tracking, to solve the partial occlusion of the target, a particle filter is used. As the features for human tracking, the STHOG feature is adopted. The STHOG is a feature quantity that focuses on the walking characteristics of humans and is robust to fluctuations in lighting. We performed the simulation of the human detection, in the case where there are multiple people whose colors are similar to the target. As a result, The effectiveness of discrimination by STHOG features is shown compared with the case of only color information.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125948660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recent approaches for anomalous events identification utilize the difference between the predicted future frame and the current frame to detect the frames with an anomalous event. However, these approaches fare poorly if there is an overlap between multiple objects present in the scene. This work proposes to incorporate two modules to the future frame prediction-based anomalous activity detection approach. The first module penalizes the frame-wise PSNR value if there is an overlap between a normal and an anomalous object. In contrast, the second module penalizes the PSNR value if there is a sudden deviation of the vehicles from its trajectory. This object-centric approach ensures that the anomalous events are correctly identified even in the presence of occlusion. The proposed method is evaluated on two standard datasets Ped 2 and CUHK Avenue. The proposed method outperforms the existing approaches, and an AUC of 96.2% and 85.22% is obtained on Ped2 and CUHK, respectively.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125611142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing studies on student graduation rates typically employ the use of machine learning methods to correlate a student's profile and their chances of graduation. Building on the success of these methods for Western institutions, we used Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, and Neural Networks to build models that use available student data to predict their graduation chances. The results show that all three models are good at predicting graduation outcome, with the logistic regression model yielding slightly higher scores in classification accuracy (80.67 %) and class separation (ROC-AUC score of 83.02%). We also found that including as little as four post-matriculation factors increases the model performances significantly. Hence, the models can be used to perform student risk assessment and develop plans to increase a student's chances of graduation.","PeriodicalId":405859,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2021 - 2021 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134228949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent year, many metaheuristic approaches have been proposed for CPP but their solutions are of high time complexity. Therefore, we propose a novel graph-based clustering approach to solve the CPP in SDWSN. Our proposed algorithm Coverage and Controller Capacity-based Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (C3HAC) minimize overall network latency. C3HAC aims to determine the optimal number of controllers and divides the network into an equal number of clusters. Moreover, we also formulate multiple objective functions and a fitness function for placement of controllers in each cluster. GEOAGRI provides visualization of the road and automatically cross-checks it to all existing proposed, ongoing, and completed road projects for possible duplication. The web-based GIS system requires the user to upload a shapefile or KML of the road; it then pinpoints the location based on its geometry and executes an intersection query to the existing road projects within the location. By having this mechanism, one can determine the extent of the intersection of the proposed road to the existing ones that users can also be view on the map. In addition, it can help the agency managers in deciding whether to approve or deny the project. The system also embedded other map layers such as rice production, public market, machinery, and infrastructures which is also one of the determining factors in the approval of the proposed road. Non-registered users may also view all the existing road projects and do basic map queries.
