It conforms to the four stages of the AIDA model: awareness, interest, desire and action. To introduce new products, the presentation speech conveys a plethora of interpersonal meanings. Based on the AIDA model, this thesis analyzes the interpersonal meaning of Apple’s current CEO Tim Cook’s speeches during Apple’s new product launches through mood, modality and person systems. This study aims to explore the types and distribution of lexico-grammatical resources that Cook adopts, and how these resources realize the interpersonal meaning and help Cook achieve alignment with the audience over Apple’s new product information in four steps of the AIDA model. The findings show that Tim Cook has an obvious preference for the resources in the speeches of Apple’s new product launches. He tends to use distinctive lexico-grammatical resources in four stages of the AIDA model to realize the interpersonal meaning.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122074667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More specifically, it provides explanations of (1) how attitude features of effect, judgment, and appreciation are disseminated across academic medical texts published in reputable journals, (2) how different writer voices are constructed through the use of evaluative language, and (3) the assumptions that professional published writers make about the values and beliefs of their readers. Mackey and Gass (2005) Appraisal theory was employed in the present study because it focuses on interpersonal meanings that provide writers and speakers with the means to be critical, value, reject, accept, and challenge other positions. The findings revealed high instances of Appraisal resources in the discussion section of the medical texts. Thus, language played an important role and was used rhetorically to achieve argumentative goals. The interpersonal language was highly achieved through resources of engagement. The study contributes new understandings of interpersonal meaning in the professional writers’ medical texts from the functional perspective of Appraisal theory. The findings may provide new directions for the development of literacy in the genre of academic research writing.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124798226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the study, the designers should help a group of University of UAC workers to communicate in English effectively with international students who want to study at UAC or those who were already participating in international programmes there. This study introduces data about the trainees who benefit from this academic activity, tasks designed and taught, as well as the evaluation and assessment used. Finally, it suggests some recommendations for those who may consider the option of designing an ESP course as an effective strategy to promote the use of the English language in a work context.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124341872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pretest, posttest, control group, quasi experimental design was employed for the study. A sample of 425 students from a population of 5300 newly admitted undergraduates from four different faculties and departments of the university were the study participants. Three departments were used as the experimental groups while one was the control. These faculties and departments were selected through simple random sampling. A writing achievement test and a verbal ability test were the instruments used for the study. The data were collected from the writing scores and verbal test scores of the participants and analysed using mean and standard deviation, as well as Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). From the results of the study, it was found that verbal ability level did not significantly affect the writing achievement of participants. The findings indicate that students who apply themselves to their studies can excel in their writing irrespective of their level of verbal ability. It was therefore recommended that teachers in the different educational institutions should encourage their students to become proficient in the different areas of language covered by the verbal ability tests as this would help the students excel in their tertiary courses, while on the other hand, students should apply themselves to their studies as hard work and not verbal ability level is a key determinant determine in performance and achievement in their English language and other courses.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114550676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the researcher tries to overcome that issue by applying three-stage research plans. To start with, the researcher fosters an original calculated system wherein we order authority abilities and partner them with errands, the executives’ level, and authority experience. The method that the researcher builds on this is to lead semi-organized meetings with chiefs and methodically research work promotions at the administration level. Our meeting results show that correspondence abilities, subject-explicit information, self-association abilities, and self-reflection abilities are viewed as especially significant amid fast innovation-driven change. The results have shown that the interview participants in the education minister identified the three most significant challenges (in descending order) as being personnel acquisition, digitalization, and pressure for innovation. In the context of personnel acquisition, demographic change in connection with a shortage of qualified applicants is seen as particularly challenging. The researcher concluded that key authority abilities are relational abilities, language information, authoritative abilities, subject-explicit information, advanced proficiency, and self-reflection.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131966356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It demonstrates how he embodies this poem as an 1819 poem with social value due to its original concept. It investigates Byron’s attitudes to culture through portraying the major characters along with primary depictions of upper-class parents, which is one of the visions of England in the nineteenth century. It also focuses on Byron’s representation of nineteenth-century attitudes on romantic writing and the exact scenario of extramarital affairs. This study delineates gender discrimination and its influence on social lives in the nineteenth century. The main focus of this research is how Don Juan demonstrates Byronism through portraying authentic characters, attitude to living conditions, the impact of parents and religion, revolution, and class judgment.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115179225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The participants (n=10) were O level English teachers from Hwange District in Matabeleland North Province, Zimbabwe. The teachers were selected through purposive sampling. Interviews were used to generate data that were presented in percentages and analysed through content analysis, while being guided by research objectives. The major findings of the study were that the teaching of English composition at O level is largely affected by teachers’competencies, teaching methods used by the teachers, a language-rich learning environment and teacher motivation and morale, among other factors. Other school related factors such as the amount of time allocated to the teaching of English composition on the school timetable, provision of timely and meaningful feedback to learners on written compositions as well as teachers’ attendance of staff development workshops; were also noted to be influential. Accordingly, the researcher concluded that the teaching of O level English composition in the area under study is largely affected by a combination of teacher and other school related factors. It is recommended that for improvement and effectiveness in the teaching of English composition, teachers need to be motivated, boost their teaching competencies, use learner-centred teaching methods and provide a language-rich and conducive learning environment to O level English students.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133666485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The latter are devoid of the concept of an oath. This concept can be the catalyst and generator of responsibility, equality, and merit between these two professions. To achieve complementarity between these two professions, an approach based on a questionnaire and interview on this situation is carried out at architectural design offices and minimal technical design offices in Algeria in order to bridge the gap created by the division of labor. Nationally, the work situation is sequential and linear. I.e. the engineer works under the responsibility of the architect. At the international level, the process is organized between architectural design offices and technical design offices, an iterative process. How to achieve this culture of complementarity of international practices. To validate this oath-based complementarity, this article reports on the results obtained and the prospects envisaged following this study.","PeriodicalId":404858,"journal":{"name":"Sumerianz Journal of Education, Linguistics and Literature","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127633563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
