The optimization of the readable area is done by varying the RFID reader's transmission power and the tilt angles of two antennas installed above a doorway which illuminate the areas in front and at the back of the door. With this optimization method, readable areas without signal blind spots due to multipath fading can be achieved. This optimization strategy can be applied to define desirable RFID tag readable areas in different working environments.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115351547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system has a data flow design on Apache NiFi for data stream processing that works with Apache Kafka for stream distribution, and data are stored in MongoDB. It also has data processing with Apache Storm that can process data quickly and display data on the Dashboard via Node-RED. In addition to the basic data storage system, there is also an additional function that can retrieve the stored data on database for further use by using REST API working on Node.js by Swagger standard. This foundation system is designed to be a prototype for those who want to design and use the platform with real-time processing characteristics. After testing, the designed system shows good working performance. It can display all values on the Dashboard completely in real-time and have a fast operation. The tools used in the study can be further developed for a more complex and larger system.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"446 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122734051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The handheld reader provides an omnidirectional radiation pattern with two nulls. Depending on the orientation of the reader and its antenna, the received signal strength indication (RSSI) of the reference tags showed different patterns as the handheld reader was moved along the path. In addition, the polarization of the reader antenna also affected the detection of the reference tags. It was proven that the RSSI patterns of various reference tags at each handheld reader's location can be applied for reader's localization both for the cases with null or main lobe pointed toward the wall with reference tags attached.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"257 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122859885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, AM has become widespread for industrial use thanks to the benefits in designing parts, reducing lead time, improving inventory, and supply chain efficiency. However, an application in an educational sector is still relatively limited. In this study, we initially conduct a review for recent five-year literature to understand the current trend of AM in an educational sector. The result clearly shows that an engineering discipline dominates other subjects of interest. Next, we discuss our feasibility study to fabricate 3D medical model aiming to enhance an understanding and learning of medical students, divided into six-step process. Based on the component of vascular anatomy of head, the medical images files called DICOM are obtained and then transformed to the 3D digital file suitable for 3DP application. Then, the simulation software is used to properly adjust the digital file to enhance the readability of anatomy and the success of model printing. Finally, the model is printed using resin-type material from AM printer called ULTRA 3SP technology.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128160647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The two-fluid model with the kinetic theory of granular flow was applied to primarily investigate the carbon dioxide sorption performance similarity. The results indicated that the hydrodynamic similarity scaling parameter cannot achieve the carbon dioxide sorption performance similarity. Therefore, a modified set of scaling parameters were proposed to scale up the sorption fluidized bed reactor. The results indicated similar carbon dioxide removal percentages under different operating conditions for the same proposed scaling parameters.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"1 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131598297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hardware design, installation and software management of the proposed system will be illustrated. Conventionally, the antenna in a UHF-Tag for the linen laundry application has a linear polarization. The proposed circularly polarized (CP) reader antenna is designed to solve an arbitrary orientation problem of a laundry UHF-Tag. A RFID reading performance of single, two, three and four reader antennas of the RFID gate are investigated. Moreover, the proposed software for laundry management is developed for tracking and counting of a dirty and cleaned linen at the RFID gate. In this work, a quadratic DC-DC step-down converter is used to interface the DC grid and the PEM electrolyzer since it has an improved voltage ratio compared to the basic step-down converter. The hydrogen flow rate is controlled through the current at the output of the quadratic DC-DC converter. Besides, the hydrogen flow rate strongly depends on the state of charge of hydrogen storage and hydrogen consumption from the fuel cell and consequently, its reference may change during operation. For this reason, to cope with the change of hydrogen flow rate reference, a sliding mode control has been developed. Hence, the controller can ensure good performance when sudden load variations appear. An experimental test bench has been developed with a PEM electrolyzer emulator and the obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed control strategy.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117144117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consists of two main parts: the power transmitter circuit and the power receiver circuit, in which the power source is a 9 Ah 36 V battery. The developed power transfer system was tested, and the condition at which the best power transmitter efficiency occurred was also found by taking consideration of two factors: frequency and distance between the power transmitter and the power receiver. The test results show that the wireless power transfer system being designed and developed can deliver power effectively. In addition, the highest power transmitter efficiency is 73.57 % at the resonance frequency of 36 kHz and the distance between the power transmitter and the power receiver of 4 cm.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129590941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed statistical tests were based on the methods of score and the Wald interval following the concept of the method of variance of estimate recovery (MOVER). To compare the performance of the proposed statistical tests, a simulation study was conducted under several shape parameter values in two gamma distributions. The performances of the statistical tests were compared based on the empirical size and the empirical power of test. The simulation results showed that the statistical test based on the method of score interval performed better than the statistical test based on the method of the Wald interval in terms of the nominal significance level attained and empirical power of the test, and is thus recommended for researchers. The performances of the proposed statistical tests also were examined through a numerical example.","PeriodicalId":404700,"journal":{"name":"2019 Research, Invention, and Innovation Congress (RI2C)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125515507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
