The study have identified different segments of tourists visiting Tremiti by means of the model proposed by Arnegger et al. (2010), using the matrix suggested in the model. The model was used to understand and categorize visitor characteristics, their expectations and levels of satisfaction, and the strengths and weaknesses of local offerings. This is crucial information for the managers of the marine reserve who require thorough knowledge of the different types of visitors to adapt to the needs, expectations and preferences of the visitors in order to offer high-quality services and memorable experiences.","PeriodicalId":404124,"journal":{"name":"Managing visitor experiences in nature-based tourism","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122362959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study demonstrates the behavioural reactions of visitors in response to a management action or a 'controlled' decision to intervene in the impacts of the invasive tui chub. About half of the Diamond Lake visitors who still visit the lake exhibited some temporal and/or spatial displacement behaviours. Visitors at Diamond Lake dealt with the lake's closure by remaining at the lake but participating in another activity (activity substitution) or by moving to an alternative location to continue their primary activity (spatial displacement/resource substitution). More than one-third of all Diamond Lake visitors chose not to recreate during that period (temporal displacement) and 17% changed both their activity and location (absolute displacement).","PeriodicalId":404124,"journal":{"name":"Managing visitor experiences in nature-based tourism","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130293664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework was tested at Lake Nakuru National Park (LNNP) in Kenya. Attractiveness was categorized into four dimensions that included wildlife resources, park accessibility, cost of attractions and park image. As the findings indicated, there was direct positive effect of all four dimensions. A relatively low effect was recorded with regard to park image, which is likely to have contributed to low satisfaction experience, future behavioural intentions and park ecological value. In addition, among the repeat visitors' responses, the majority agreed there was increased wildlife disappearance, increased difficulty in sightseeing key wildlife attractions at LNNP, invasive new species within the park, changes in wildlife grazing grounds, infrastructure damage and increased visibility of litter inside the park.","PeriodicalId":404124,"journal":{"name":"Managing visitor experiences in nature-based tourism","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125916935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Online narratives of travellers that addressed visitor experiences were included in this study. The traveller reviews address four different destinations, namely The Gambia (n=375), Sayulita, Mexico (n=20), Malaysia (n=119) and Melbourne, Australia (n=148). The focus of the analysis was on the relationship between behaviour patterns of tourists and their post-trip experiences. The first section analyses the concepts of indicators and standards as well as the importance of crowding perception as a key indicator to assess the quality of the visitor experience. Relationships between the origin of visitors, crowding and WTP to access nature-based attractions are also examined theoretically in this section. The second section describes the importance of cenotes as a main water-based tourist attraction at the Yucatán Peninsula. The third section presents the methodology; quantitative questionnaires based on normative theory were used in a visual approach focusing on Dzombakal cenote. Results outlined in the fourth section show that crowding is a good indicator to evaluate the visitor experience in water-based settings like cenotes. However, as discussed and concluded in the final section, due to significant differences between the crowding standards of local and international visitors, the symbolic value of the cenotes should be considered if a better visitor experience management is to be met.","PeriodicalId":404124,"journal":{"name":"Managing visitor experiences in nature-based tourism","volume":"253 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114332179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
