From 1974 H.G. Danielmeyer to 1995 F. Kaczmarek, they were all using the large container to grow rare-earth pentaphosphate crystals. The number of obtained laser lines on RMT of atoms and ions is not less than 44. The parameters of lasing are also impressive: average power of 120 W (CuI transitions) can be generated from a single laser tube with record conversion efficiency for all types of high-power visible lasers (3.2%) based on stored energy. In the present paper, the switching characteristics in single mode operation is theoretically analyzed using vectrial injection locking theory [2]. Due to an intracavity birefringence, the slave laser (SL) has two natural polarization states which are orthogonally polarized with each other and there is slight frequency difference between these polarization states for the same longitudinal mode. The frequency of the master laser (ML) is scanned uni directionally (lower to higher for example) in the following description. When the injection locking frequency range (ILER) which is proportionally depends on injection intensity is greater than twice of the above birefringent caused frequency difference (BCFD), the polarization state of SI. switches alternatively by scanning the frequency of ML as shown in Fig. 1. If the ILER is less than the BCED, ILFRs of both polarization states do not overlap and the polarization switching does not occur. In the case of BCED < ILFR < 2 × BCFD, the polarization state of lower frequency switches to that of higher frequency, however polarization switching of reverse direction does not occur as shown in Figs. 2 (a) and (b). KLN crystallises in a tungsten bronze structure and space group P4bm within the compositional range K3−yLi2−x+yNb5+xO15+2x, 0.15 <X <2, -0.5 <Y <0.6. It exhibits only one ferroelectric transition from a paraelectric to ferroelectric phase well above room temperature at a Curie point of around 420 °C. Such crystals show stop gaps in the dispersion relations, that are revealed as optical Bragg reflections. If light interacts strongly with photonic crystals, stop gaps broaden and may merge to form photonic band gaps. In anticipation of band gaps, it is thus important what is a useful experimental probe of stop gaps, especially the widths. Previously, transmission measurements were done, and analyzed in terms of the width or the attenuation of the stop gaps.
