In this paper, the charging load of electric vehicles (EVs) is presented along with the operational cost optimization of the distribution grid based on the trend and the development of EVs in Indonesia from 2020 until 2030. Since the development of EVs in Indonesia has just officially begun, the charging loads and demand data from several types of EVs are analyzed. With no historical data for Jakarta, Monte Carlo simulation method is proposed with 3 main scenarios for forecasting the charging load of EVs, which are reference, moderate and advanced scenario. Operational cost optimization approach is proposed in order to achieve the most preferable pricing scheme for EV charging load in the distribution network. Accordingly, the optimization will be made based on the 3 main scenarios used in the forecasting process. As a study case, Jakarta City is chosen as the main object to analyze the best pricing strategy of the development of EVs throughout 2030 as its debut to start the electric transportation era.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121689192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This can cause twisting in the drivetrain which over time can weaken the system and eventually result in failure. This paper presents an active damping method to smooth drivetrain transients that may arise due to turbulent winds or faults in the power system. The proposed method utilizes the generator and turbine speeds to maintain the drivetrain twist angle at a stable value and is realized through sliding mode control. The efficacy of the proposed method is verified through subjecting the wind generator to rapid changes in wind speed and power system transients. Simulations are carried out using the detailed DFIG model in the RTDS® simulation platform.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123150834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Properly grasp of the state of power facilities using ICT is required in order to realize efficient maintenance work, and beside to detect abnormal signs of them automatically. In this paper, applicability of wireless communication system to the maintenance work of underground power transmission lines, that is usually carried out inside of a manhole, is discussed. In order to realize data transmission from inside to outside of a manhole without any additional construction work around a manhole, the use of a wireless communication technology is essential. Since a radio signal may not propagate sufficiently due to a metallic lid laid on the top of a manhole, radio propagation characteristics of 920 MHz band using LoRa were evaluated through the experimental study using a real manhole equipment. Furthermore, for a simple design of a wireless communication system between inside and outside of a manhole, applicability of a computer simulation method of the radio propagation, that is finite difference time domain (FDTD), is shown through a comparison between measured and simulated results.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"186 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124714228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces a voltage signal-based fault assessment method for islanded AC microgrids. It considers a new set of features such as instantaneous jumps in amplitude, phase angle and frequency of voltage signal for fault detection and classification. Hilbert transform is used to extract the above features in the time domain. The proposed method can detect any kind of disturbance occurring in the system including step changes in loads and generations and faults, within a cycle. It can also identify whether the detected disturbance is a fault or a non-fault disturbance, by considering the rate of change of frequency calculated over a cycle in addition to the instantaneous jumps in voltage. Fault type classification is performed with the introduced instantaneous features, where support vector machine and artificial neural network classifiers are trained separately, and their performances are tested with unknown test data. The proposed method is validated with balanced as well as unbalanced islanded AC microgrid systems. Further, the performance of the proposed method is verified with both clean and noisy data.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129617934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, requirements of wideband communication network for sensing and monitoring utilities and maintenance works are also increasing. To realize future communication network cost-effectively and energy-efficiently, centralized radio access network architecture that use optical fiber based fronthaul network has attracted attention from both academia and industry. In this paper, we propose a design of wireless access network using existing optical ground wires for centralized radio access network architecture for the first time. In the proposed configuration, remote radio heads on transmission towers are arranged linearly. We investigate the applicability of optical data transport technologies of physical layer split, analog radio-on-fiber, and common public radio interface. Finally, we comparatively analyze the deployment costs under different transport technologies and our results show that physical layer split and analog radio-on-fiber with subcarrier multiplexing result in lower cost than other technologies.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134488871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In principle this was a systematic, comprehensive and rational process designed to make legible the complex pattern of property relations that existed over forests. However, in practice, forest settlements in colonial India were often a process of struggle and interaction between diverse economic, political and ideological forces that resulted in heterogeneous outcomes, only sometimes intended. Forest settlements in a small region of the present state of Himachal Pradesh reflect this struggle between the ideology of homogeneity and legibility on one hand and the persistent and thriving diversity of property regimes on the other. Actual settlement records reflect the perspectives and differences of individual settlement officers, influence of local power centers, different political incentives, and particular local political-economic concerns at specific points of time when the settlements were undertaken. This paper discusses the patchwork of diverse property regimes that were created in Himachal Pradesh’s forests by divergent interests that defied any attempts at homogeneity. It argues that the post-Forest Act colonial regime actively encouraged the commercialisation of forest resources while simultaneously imposing several restrictions on tribal populations and other forest users. Further, it argues that the conservation initiatives made by the government was essentially intended to curtail the access of the tribals and other forest users so that the colonial regime could extract these resources for commercial purposes. In short, post-Forest Act colonial forest policies that were allegedly intended to conserve the forests ended up enabling the colonial government to systematically extract forest resources; resulting in the emaciation of the tribal populace and the transformation of the forest environment in the Madras Presidency. The ability of the ICT system to meet the real time requirements of the powers system, even when it is degraded due to failures, is essential. This simultaneous study of dependability (reliability) and performance are referred to as performability. This paper presents a method for a performability study on ICT support system of smart grid. It looks into how performance associated properties (timing failures) can be modelled together with properties affecting dependability such as omission or conventional component failures. A two tier model using ns-3 and SAN is developed to study the peformability of an IEC 61850 based communication infrastructure for a protection application. For illustration, a simulation is conducted to study the reliability and unavailability of an IEC 61850 based communication architecture, where the impact of both timing failures and omission failures are investigated and compared. The result revealed that the availability and reliability is highly dependent on the requirements for the protection application, maximum delay per packet and maximum number of consecutive delayed packets the protection application can tolerate. It also shows that timing failures have a higher impact than omission failures for a protection application with shorter time requirement.","PeriodicalId":403137,"journal":{"name":"2019 7th International Conference on Smart Grid (icSmartGrid)","volume":"197 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114264708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
