The risks if it is not managed properly may cause loss and damages to properties. Consequently, a proper management of risks is crucial in order to mitigate risks. However, the management of risk in the provision of wakaf-zakat housings, as stated in manual guidelines published by JAWHAR (2009; 2007) seems inadequate as it focuses only on the protection of wakaf and zakat properties. Due to the inadequacy, in particular to benefit the asnafi and needy, loss and damages occur upon occurrence of risks probably are due to syubhah methodology adopted in managing risks. Consequently, a study is conducted to review literature on the practice of conventional and Shariah compliance risk management leading to a synthesis framework that could then be recommended for adoption for Shariah compliance risk management in the provision of wakaf-zakat housings. The study is an extended research on the protection of wakaf-zakat properties for the needy and poor via takaful. The study combines review of literature and intensive discussions with experts specializing in the Shariah, wakaf and zakat, and practitioners i.e. developers and consultants involved in wakaf-zakat housings and their contents projects. Findings of the study suggest that: Shariah compliance risk management in the provision of wakaf-zakat housings are not being practiced; the practice lack comprehensiveness in terms of the management of risks in the provision of wakaf-zakat housings, and; the outcome of the study is a synthesis list comprising of processes and steps in Shariah compliance risk management in the provision of wakaf-zakat housings is produced","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73362319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, a proper understanding of Muhammadiyah is not only achieved through a religious approach, but also by examining social-historical conditions, which is by demonstrating the extent that its presence in conducting religious activities correlates with the true concept of Islam (Muslim Public Good). The current study aims to observe the models and strategies utilized by Muhammadiyah’s champions in repositioning and reflecting on religious movements, which have been framed at both conceptual and practical level. Subsequently, the framing strategies were used as a social capital to carry out their religious activities. For issues that are practical in nature, the study in this article is a description and elaboration about the aspirations, perceptions, intentions, ideas, goals, and thoughts pertaining to a social system inspired by the spirit of religiosity in Indonesia, in general, and Islam in Java, in particular, within the Muhammadiyah tradition as a Muslim public good (the true Islam).","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"190 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83559778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scholars selected are al-Kindi, Ikhwan al-Safa, al-Farabi and Ibn Sina. The basis of this research begins from the polemic among scholars concerning the legal status of using music, whether permissible or forbidden, due to the absence of authenticated textual proof (nas qat’i) from al-Quran and protracted debate over the authenticity of hadith on the prohibition of music. Behind the debate is that music was applied as an Islamic psychotherapy method of treatment in hospitals of the medieval Islamic civilization such as Fez Hospital in Morocco, cAdudi Hospital in Baghdad, al-Mansuri Hospital in Cairo, Nuri Hospital in Damascus, al-Arghuni Hospital in Allepo, Gevher Nesibe Hospital and Giyaseddin Keyhusrev Medical Hospital in Kayseri, Keykavus Hospital in Sivas, Turan Malik Hospital in Divrighi, Pervane Bey Hospital in Tokat, Atabey Ferruh Hospital in Cankiri, Ali bin Pervane Hospital in Kastamonu, Amasya Hospital in Amasya, Fatih Hospital in Istanbul, Edirne Sultan Bayezid II Hospital in Edirne and Suleymaniye Hospital in Istanbul. This research uses qualitative methodology and library research method by analyzing various primary and secondary sources. Research results show that there is a slight discrepancy of views between supporters of neo-Pythagorean (al-Kindi and Ikhwan al-Safa) and Aristotelian (al-Farabi and Ibn Sina) schools of thought from the epistemological viewpoint. However, in terms of philosophy, there seems to be points of similarity in the matter of enhancement of moral and spiritual values for the sake of human well-being, whether physical or spiritual.","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"212 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76583037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

His Tahdhib al-Akhlaq was thus occupying a prominent place in this particular branch of Islamic ethical literature. It is scarcely an exaggeration to say that most of the later works that deal with this subject such as those by al-Ghazali, al-Tusi and al-Dawwani, use it as their main authority and some of them are even based on it. Thus, the objective of this qualitative study, which applies conceptual content analysis method, is to make a critical analysis of such an influential works on ethics in Islam with the purpose of elucidating its views concerning happiness, as well as the ways by which man may achieve a noble state of character, so as to attain such a great goal. To this end, the present study confines itself to discussing the concept of happiness and to finding out the answer to those particular questions regarding its nature such are, what is meant by happiness, or what does happiness consist of? Why is happiness the end to be achieved by man and for which sake he was created? Is happiness attainable in this life or the next? Who is the happy man? and so forth. The result of this study shows that the thought of Aristotle and other philosophers enable Miskawayh to philosophise about moral happiness and how Islamic faiths brings about the development of that legacy.","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"117 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79860370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also provides data on the present roles of such migrants to the development of the city and their thematic traits as a people. Culled mainly from 12 interviews and with analysis adapted from Moustakas, et.al. Model; the main reason for their migration according to interviews is the search for new opportunities; their belief that they would earn more in the establishments of the city. Their decision to migrate is also influenced by persons close to them such as relatives. The interviewees have quickly adapted to their new environment by traveling together and settling with their families. Ethnographic approach unraveled that aside from paying taxes to the coffers of the city and rent to its businesses, Muslim migrants have contributed to the city’s progress by engaging in work; providing aid during calamities, charitable works and cheaper products to the city’s inhabitants. Employing a qualitative case method, and using informal and in-depth tools; the study concludes that the Muslims of Dasmarinas have not only enriched the socio-economic aspects of the city, but have also greatly contributed to its over-all growth and productivity.","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88702347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the eleventh century, when the Islamic state extended politically and geographically, a need arose to understand the Quran, which isthe essence of the Islamic religion. Most non-Arab converts were unable to understand the original Quran text. As a result, they could not understand the true message of their new faith and perform the prescribed worship and practices. This article deals with the topic translating the Quran from a historical and theological point of view. Firstly, some historical factors that lead to the realization of the Quran translation are examined, including the need to understand the Quran both by the new Muslim generations and the People of the Book to defend their own faith against the Islam. Secondly, attention is paid to the theological consensus on prohibiting translation of the Quran into other languages because of its inimitable nature and style. Finally, the problem of the Quran translation is discussed with a focus on the current need for understanding the universal message of the Quran that can only be achieved through translation.","PeriodicalId":40258,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Islamic Thought","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73824040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
