Efficiency and detection of uncertainty are always the key ingredients for this task. This paper proposes an approach for pixel classification using Shannon's entropy-based fuzzy distance norm. Unsupervised clustering is used to group the objects based on some similarity or dissimilarity. The proposed algorithm is able to identify clusters comparing fuzzy membership values based on Shannon's entropy evaluation. This new normalized definition of the distance also satisfies separability, symmetric and triangular inequality conditions for a distance metric. This approach addresses the overlapping regions in remote sensing images by uncertainties using fuzzy set membership values. Shannon entropy further introduces belongingness and non-belongingness to one cluster within the distance measure. We demonstrate our algorithm for segmenting a LANDSAT image of Shanghai. The newly developed algorithm is compared with FCM and K-Means algorithms. The new algorithm generated clustered regions are verified with on hand ground truth facts. The validity and statistical analysis are carried out to demonstrate the superior performance of our new algorithms with K-Means and FCM algorithms.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134368593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electric governor is considered in hydro area. Battery energy storage (BES) system is incorporated for the first time in 3-area hydro thermal system and areas are interconnected with AC/DC link. The dynamic responses of the system with BES are compared with that without BES. The PID controller is used as the secondary controller. The controller gains are optimized using a more recent powerful evolutionary optimization technique called \"Cuckoo Search\". Investigations reveal that dynamic responses of the system with BES are better than without BES. The sensitivity analysis reveals that the optimum controller gains in presence of BES obtained at nominal conditions and at nominal parameter are robust and need not be reset to uncertain change in system loading, inertia constant and location and magnitude of step load perturbation.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124597321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a simple control strategy for single phase, dual stator winding induction generator for grid secluded, domestic application. The induction generator consists of a control winding fed from a Photovoltaic (PV) panel and single phase inverter. A storage battery is used which adds to the reliability of the scheme. The load is fed from the power winding. The two windings are decoupled from each other which make the control flexible. The proposed control accounts for steady load voltage with constant frequency operation with change in loads or rotor speeds. The proposed generation scheme along with the control is made uncomplicated keeping in mind the cost requirement and effectiveness. Suitable simulation and experimental analysis sums up the viability of the proposed concept.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124505739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In view of information security, an enterprise is considered as a collection of assets and their interrelationships and how users use their rights to access the enterprise. These interrelationships may be built into the enterprise information infrastructure, as in the case of connection of hardware elements in network architecture, or in the installation of software or in the information assets. As a result, access to one element may enable access to another if they are connected. An enterprise may specify the conditions on how to access certain assets in certain mode (read, write etc.) as policies. The interconnection of assets, along with specified policies, may lead to vulnerabilities in the enterprise information system if misused. This paper presents a formal methodology for detection of vulnerabilities and threats to enterprise information systems.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"242 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115189372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one of such algorithm which is based on the intelligent food searching behavior of swarm like birds flock, fish schooling. It has been shown that it works efficiently on noisy, multimodal and composite functions. However, it stuck at local optima at later stage of evolution due to unexplore the search space. Several variations of pso and mutation based approached was developed for this problem. In this paper, an adaptive mutation is proposed for multiobjective pso and called it AMPSO. In AMPSO, mutation is applied on the position and velocity of the particles based on the fitness values of the particles. Proposed algorithm carried on 5 multiobjective benchmark functions. The experimental results shown the better performance comparing with other algorithms in terms of best, mean and standard deviation.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121912292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

OFDM has several advantages which makes it suitable for high speed data communications. One of the major drawback of OFDM is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). There are several methods to overcome this drawback. Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) is one of them. In this paper, a modified version of the iterative flipping algorithm has been proposed i.e. modified flipping PTS (M-PTS), which reduces the performance gap between the iterative flipping algorithm (I-PTS) and the conventional PTS technique. In the proposed algorithm, performance analysis has been done with considering performance/ complexity trade-off.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128197124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though guidelines for interpretation had been put forward by different organizations, they not only lack uniformity, but also are not definite, hence, difficult to implement in automated systems. We aim to propose a standardized baseline estimation algorithm addressing these issues. Baseline was calculated within continuous sliding window of duration 10 minutes and varying slide-lengths. The best slide-length is chosen and the corresponding baseline value is compared with the one obtained with discreet window as suggested by NICHD [1] and the estimate given by three experienced physicians. The results are analyzed using standard statistical methods such as confidence level, error margin, standard error etc. at a Confidence Level of 95%. The results of the algorithm and mathematical calculations incorporated in this work is found encouraging. Thus the proposed algorithm can not only be used to easily estimate the baseline using overlapping window but can also be adopted in an automated system for the interpretation of CTG.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124434733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To be brief, a relay acts as a service station for wireless signal between source and destination. By employing relays, the reliability and quality of service (QoS) of a communication network can be improved significantly without much expenditure. For this reason, relay and its relevant technology have become a research emphasis and a large volume of literature focuses on them. To further investigate relay technology, it is necessary to understand its basic structure and the previous relevant works. Therefore, in this paper, the fundamental concepts and techniques relevant to relay will be reviewed and explained briefly. In addition, the links among these concepts and techniques will also be clarified and they all form a completed knowledge network for the future investigation. Finally, a number of potential research aspects of relay selection will be concluded.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":" 13","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120937432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concentration profile, such as red blood cell (RBC), white blood cell (WBC), platelet concentration are the key parameters for early diagnosis of many diseases. However in most laboratories, especially in resource limited settings, this diagnosis are done manually using conventional optical microscope. This manual process is slow and prone to subjective error. In this paper we demonstrate a smartphone based automated cell detection and counting system. The system is based on the lens-free imaging method, which is a compact facility made up of inexpensive components. We evaluated the performance of the system as well as smartphone algorithm by evaluating the concentration of the micro particles of different sizes. This results were then compared with the conventional optical microscope result. The correlation coefficients of this comparisons shows a great agreement between the two modalities. This kind of compact system along with the wireless facility would be a good point of care facility in resource limited settings.","PeriodicalId":402311,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2015 Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control and Information Technology (C3IT)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132128849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To accelerate the convergence speed and improve the simulation results, opposition based learning (OBL) is incorporated with the basic CRO algorithm. OCRO deals with the formation and breaking of chemical bonds in a chemical reaction. To show the potential of the proposed oppositional CRO algorithm, it has been applied to two different test systems namely, a 10-generator system along with multiple fuel options and 40 unit system having valve-point effects and transmission loss in the system.
