Diameter EAP Application is one of Diameter applications that supports authentication using EAP. In this research, we designed a new state machine for Diameter EAP Server and implemented the first open-source Diameter EAP Application, called DiamEAP. It is available under BSD-like license. DiamEAP is designed to be extensible so that any new EAP method can be implemented separately as a shared library called EAP method plug-in. Newly added EAP methods are supported without modifications to the DiamEAP implementation. In addition, DiamEAP provides a cryptography library that any EAP method plug-in can use. As one of EAP methods, we implemented EAP-TLS on DiamEAP. We also present our implementation of a Diameter EAP Server and evaluated the basic performance. As a result, DiamEAP's processing time for 20 sessions/second is about 11.9 ms and a duration for authenticating a user is around 45.3 ms. DiamEAP is supported by the AAA working group of the WIDE Project.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127376472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a selection method of MIMO transmission mode and the modulation and coding scheme (MCS) according to the Rician channel K-factor from our previous work is considered. A hidden Markov model of time-varying Rician channel K-factor is constructed by using the real measured channel data on the high speed rail train. With the constructed hidden Markov model, the time correlation of Rician channel K-factor can be obtained and the time-varying K-factor value can be generated. By using the hidden Markov model, the K-factor value can be predicted to facilitate link adaptation since the K-factor may vary during feedback, especially in high mobility scenario. Simulation results show an average throughput improvement of 5Mbps.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115137947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this contribution, a novel relaying strategy that uses MIMO relays in a two-hop wireless network is proposed to support multiuser transmission. We apply a two stage transmit and relay preprocessing technique in order to eliminate the multiple-user interference. The fixed relays process the received signal with linear operations and forward it to the multiple users i.e. the amplify-and-forward(AF) scheme. The users are partitioned into the number of groups equal to the number of relays. Each group of users communicates with its own specified relay terminal. The effective channel from transmitter to the relays and from relays to the users can be modeled as a broadcast channel and interference channel, respectively. This paper optimizes the relay amplification matrix and base station transmit power according to achievable sum rate at the users, neglecting the direct links from the base station to the users and with certain structure at the relays. Simulation results show that the sum rate achieved by the proposed system architecture is close to the sum rate achieved by the decode-and-forward relaying scheme.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"151 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116664007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MAC sub-layer in IEEE 802.15.4 provides a guaranteed time slot (GTS) to guarantee quality of service for applications requiring low latency or minimum data rate. However, since the maximum number of GTSs allowed in each superframe is limited up to seven in IEEE 802.15.4, efficient GTS allocation scheme is required to improve utilization of wireless resources and enhance quality of service. In this paper, we propose utilization-aware dynamic GTS allocation scheme for IEEE 802.15.4 to increase throughput and decrease data transmission latency. To obtain our objective, we introduce states and priorities of devices for GTS allocation. The state is utilized to determine priority of devices. PAN coordinator dynamically allocates GTSs to devices in descending order of their priorities. Performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by simulation on C++. From the results, we confirm that our proposed scheme has better performance than the conventional IEEE 802.15.4 in terms of throughput and packet waiting time.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117213438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These codes have a specific degree distribution to follow in order to obtain an efficient decoding process. However, adding a layer of network coding on such packets triggers a distorsion of the degree distribution. Consequently, the packet overhead needed for the decoding process can grow significantly.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125864244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, CA (Carrier Aggregation) is defined by 3GPP (the 3rd Generation Partnership Project) to support wide-bandwidth transmission. However, OFDM system is sensitive to synchronization errors generated by multipath delay, Doppler shift and oscillator instability. In this paper, we address the synchronization problem in non-continuous CA scenario and propose a block type pilot based synchronization algorithm to suppress the STO (Sampling Timing Offset) and CFO (Carrier Frequency Offset). The pilot pattern used here is CAZAC (Constant Amplitude Zero Autocorrelation) sequence, which is also exploited in LTE-Advanced standard. Since the proposed method is a parallel processing, different bands could experience different synchronization errors. Simulation results show the proposed method can significantly improve system performance and has smooth performance when synchronization errors vary.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126088164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of header compression schemes have been proposed to solve this particular problem. These, however, come with their set of limitations and suffer from a loss of practicality in certain cases. Our contribution in this paper is two-fold; firstly, we propose a practical framework for cross-layer header compression which improves vastly on existing data rates (by more than 25% of raw throughput at high SNRs). This is achieved by applying independent compression algorithms to both MAC and PHY data units, thus ensuring better throughput. Secondly, we analyze the performance of proposed scheme in slow fading as well as fast fading environments to demonstrate robustness.","PeriodicalId":402292,"journal":{"name":"2010 16th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122725204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the end user's side, these positioning services will have different position accuracy levels when satellite signal configurations and receiver noise levels are different. In this paper, a position error modeling is presented using a black-box approach. Using this approach, end users will treat the entire signal biases and receiver noises as a black-box transfer function. No efforts are made to model many different individual error sources of satellite signals and receivers. Further, a different type of sensor is chosen to aid the error de-correlation.
