Rola argumentu ad hominem w komentarzach internautów dotyczących polskiej pisarki Olgi Tokarczuk","authors":"Joanna Koswenda, Jolanta Dyoniziak","doi":"10.29107/rr2022.2.5","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.29107/rr2022.2.5","url":null,"abstract":"Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza destrukcji wizerunku osoby w dyskursie na przykładzie użycia argumentu ad hominem w komentarzach internautów dotyczących nagrody Nobla 2018 przyznanej w dziedzinie literatury polskiej pisarce i intelektualistce Oldze Tokarczuk. Wybrane do analizy komentarze zostały opublikowane na stronach polskich portali informacyjnych: „Dorzeczy”, „Gość Niedzielny”, „Wprost”, „Niezależna”, „Fronda”, „wPolityce” i „Salon24”. Badanie przeprowadzono w okresie od października 2019 do stycznia 2020 na 104 komentarzach, które stanowią materiał badawczy. Został on poddany analizie argumentacyjnej zaproponowanej przez szkoły francuską, szczegółowo wykorzystano opracowania dotyczące pojęcia etosu i argumentu ad hominem (Amossy, Charaudeau, Druetta i Paissa, Maingueneau). Badanie wykazało, iż argument ad hominem może odegrać istotną rolę w dekonstrukcji wizerunku publicznego. Osadzony jest w ramach współczesnej genologii retorycznej jako podejścia badawczego usytuowanego obok genologii lingwistycznej, literaturoznawczej i medialnej, które operuje siatką własnych kategorii badawczych. Odnosi się do krytyki retorycznej jako metody badania artefaktów w przestrzeni komunikacyjnej. Kluczową kategorią, będącą przedmiotem rozważań jest potencjał retoryczny gatunku jako narzędzia komunikowania i możliwość jego odkrywania w krytycznej refleksji. Przedstawiono zarys krytyki retorycznej opartej na czterech wymiarach gatunku: komunikacyjno-teleologicznym, czasowo-przestrzennym, kompozycyjno-stylistycznym i dyskursywno-podmiotowym. Badanie polega na rozważeniu pytań właściwych dla każdego wymiaru dotyczących specyfiki wybranego gatunku. Roberta DeChaine’a zawartej w „Border Rhetorics: Citizenship and Identity on the US-Mexico Border”, w której autor postuluje zwrócenie uwagi na retoryczne funkcje granic artykuł analizuje polemikę z doksą granicy. W artykule omówione są wybrane przykłady artystycznego aktywizmu (artivism) z pogranicza meksykańsko-amerykańskiego oraz w obrębie Morza Śródziemnego od 2000 roku. Retoryczne znaczenie granicy, związane z wartościami, przekonaniami i postawami rozumiane jest jako doksa pogranicza, wpływająca na społeczne postrzeganie granic i migrantów. Irvin","doi":"10.1525/rh.2022.40.3.256","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1525/rh.2022.40.3.256","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract:Hugh Latimer’s 1548 “Sermon of the Plough” is well-known as an example of early English evangelical rhetoric. However, the sermon has often been considered as an effect of, rather than a participant in, evangelical theology. This article reads Latimer’s rhetoric, especially his creation of a persona, as fully theological, using Melanchthon’s valorization of rhetoric over logic as a model. Though often interpreted as an overt critique of writing, this argument posits Thoth is offered analogically to contrast Plato’s rhetorical epistemology with that of the ancient Egyptians. To do so, this argument addresses why a mythic Egyptian figure might be so significant to Plato in the 4th Century B.C. Greece, whose culture already had multiple gods and cultural heroes to whom the invention of writing is attributed, when the episode in Phaedrus is axiomatically described as a critique of writing. Because Plato may have had some degree of firsthand knowledge of Egyptian traditions it explores those traditions personified in the figure of Thoth, which should be examined as an analogical device advised by Egyptian rhetorical epistemology. A closer examination of the comparative rhetorical epistemological perspective not only illuminates Thoth’s appearance in Phaedrus but also the Egyptian rhetorical-epistemic tradition. Gaining popularity in the Victorian period, the style guide began to solidify as a genre dedicated to preserving certain linguistic usages. I argue that, from the nineteenth century on, the best style guides have used rhetoric as the cornerstone of their linguistic philosophy. Guides which ignore rhetorical scholarship tend to be reactionary and of limited use to the reader. His style has often seemed archaic and naive, unworthy of in-depth study. Nevertheless, the main so-called Gorgian figures are present in his fragments. They are not used with simply ornamental purposes but with a strongly expressive and even speculative intent. By examining in detail some texts (Lanza frr. B12; B6; B4), such systematicity and speculative depth of the use of the main rhetorical figures can be detected. Celem analizy jest pokazanie, w jaki sposób różne media konstruują system wyobrażeń na temat przyczyn protestów i jak opisują ich przebieg. W centrum zainteresowania znalazły się przede wszystkim takie zagadnienia retoryki narracji, jak: narzędzia budowania porządku świata oraz typy bohaterów i sposoby ich konstruowania (motywacje, relacje między nimi, przypisywane im wartości i intencje działania). W przypadku każdego z tygodników można mówić o spójności narracji zarówno na poziomie mikro, a więc pojedynczych artykułów, jak i na poziomie makro.
