The sputtering of Ni and Ti targets and the transport of sputtered Ni and Ti atoms through the background gas were simulated using a Monte-Carlo approach, while the deposition of the sputtered atom onto the film surface was analyzed using molecular dynamics. The interaction of Ar+ ions with the deposited film under the influence of substrate bias was also simulated using a Monte-Carlo approach. The distribution of sputtered atoms over the substrate and the fraction of total sputtered atoms from Ni and Ti targets that reached the substrate were calculated for an off centred target which made an angle of 30° with the substrate. The effects of target voltage and gas temperature on the distribution of sputtered atom over substrate were studied with the help of the aforesaid simulations. It was observed that with increasing target voltage, the fraction of sputtered atoms reaching the substrate was increased slightly for a pure Ni target, while it showed very little change for a pure Ti target. With increasing gas temperature, the value for the same decreased initially, but increased beyond a critical temperature. The velocities of incident Ni and Ti atoms on the substrate were calculated and it was found that no intrinsic re-sputtering could take place for a Ni0.5Ti0.5 thin film under the simulated conditions. The fraction of deposited atoms that were re-sputtered by Ar+ ions under varying substrate bias was also calculated and was found to increase substantially with the increase in the magnitude of the substrate bias voltage. The two practical case study solutions were implemented, and their operational capabilities under industrial conditions were tested. The process is described by using the model of solidification in the temperature interval, whereas the shrinkage of material is modeled basing on the mass balance equation. The inverse problem consists in reconstruction of the heat transfer coefficient on the boundary of the casting mould separating the cast from the environment. Lack of this data is compensated by the measurements of temperature in the control point located inside the mould. Modern multiphase steels were used as their mechanical properties are very sensitive and strictly dependent on the combination of microstructure components with different levels of their mechanical responses. DIC as a precision tool has been used to investigate the deformation inhomogeneity during the tensile tests of specimens previously deformed with complex strain path history. The study was focused on the combined metal forming processes (i.e. Accumulated Angular Drawing (AAD), Wire Drawing (WD) and Wire Flattening (WF)). These processes are characterised by a combination of various deformation mechanisms (area reduction, torsion, bending, burnishing), and thus, are strongly affected by nonlinear strain path changes. Then, data provided in the experimental part of the work was used to assess the existing constitutive equations in the light of their applicability for the prediction of mechanical response of materials subjected to nonlinear loading conditions. In the numerical analysis, work hardening model (i.e. Chaboche model) was investigated. The presented results were obtained from the authors’ own studies conducted with the application of a new method of determining the heat flux transferred between these surfaces. The method consists of two stages: the experiment and numerical calculations. The experimental tests include temperature measurements in specific points in two samples remaining in contact with each other. The numerical part uses the inverse solution and the finite element method for the calculation of the heat flux on the contact surface. An analysis was performed on the effect of the steel grade used in the tests on the result of heat transfer determination in contact phenomena. The paper presents a system for the integration of heterogeneous data sources in the domain of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The concept of the system is described along with its main functionalities, IT architecture and details of the implementation. The data sources and the methods of data acquisition from medical devices integrated with the system are also characterized. The main goal of the system is to facilitate patient�s diagnosis and treatment process by integrating the results of the performed medical examinations and analyses. Depending on the type of the phase transformation model this connection may involve long computing times. Moreover, when the optimization task has to be formulated and solved, the computing costs may radically increase. It is particularly troublesome when the objective function is composed of advanced microstructural parameters or product properties, evaluation of which requires an application of multiscale modelling techniques. In the present paper the possibilities of decreasing of the computing costs for optimization of metals processing were explored. Several case studies, which require connection of the FE code with phase transformation models, were analysed and computing times were compared. The initial samples were produced by GoodFellow, the initial molar fraction was Cu30Sn70 respectively. Thus, the two-phase region was obtained. The two different phenomena occurs during the process of sedimentation at 453K for 1 hour with the angular speed of 35 000 RPM . Mainly, the Cu 3 Sn and Cu 6 Sn 5 phase growth due to the temperature and migration of pure Sn according to the centrifugal force. Both phenomena's are described by physical equa-tions. The model describing the phase growth based on the Leibnitz rule - the mass conserva-tion law at the moving boundary and the migration of the elements due to the sedimentation is characterized by equation of motion.
