O artigo parte dessa ideia para discutir sobre a dinâmica das imagens e dos símbolos como propulsores de outras narrativas ou discursos, com base nas ideias de Walter Benjamin sobre narrações/narradores. Considerando que as imagens são matérias dinâmicas, derivadas da nossa participação ativa no mundo, é possível afirmar que elas expõem nosso pensar no âmbito das emoções, confrontado com nossas ações. Assim sendo, pondero sobre o fotógrafo como um narrador estranhado e entranhado, para quem o conhecimento assume a forma de expressão poética/simbólica, na compreensão da importância de ir contra qualquer interpretação dada como última ou definitiva, como quer Benjamin. A fotografia entendida como narração e vida, campo de luta entre o presente, o passado e o futuro, demarca também mais um diálogo filosófico com Walter Benjamin, que no seu clássico texto “A obra de Arte na Era da sua Reprodutibilidade Técnica” postula a relação da fotografia e do cinema como modos “modernos” de expressão, desenvolvidos e utilizados de acordo com as demandas e as possibilidades de uma modernidade desconexa, fragmentária e efêmera. Tais referências, aproximadas das teorias do imaginário, estruturam o conceito de “crônica visual narrativa”, na consideração de que fotografias derivam de atos comunicativos, através dos quais os sujeitos partilham visões de mundo. Essas ideias resultaram em tese doutoral.Palavras-chave: Walter Benjamin; Fotografia; Imaginário.Abstract: Establishing relations between photography and imaginary triggers thoughts about several ways of seeing, interpreting and narrative the world. This paper uses this idea to discuss the dynamics of images and symbols as propellers of other narratives or discourses based on Walter Benjamin’s ideas about narratives/narrators. Considering that images are dynamic matter, which derives from our active participation in the world, we may state that they expose our emotional thinking, by comparison with our actions. Therefore, I ponder on a photographer as a narrator who is estranged and entangled, whose knowledge takes the form of poetic/symbolic expression, in the source for understanding the importance of disagreeing with any interpretation that is posed as the last or definitive, as proposed by Benjamin. Photography, as narrative and life, battlefield between of present, past and future, also limits a philosophical dialogue with Walter Benjamin, who, in his classic text “The work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction”, defends the relation between photography and movies. Both are modern ways of expression which are developed and used in agreement with demands and possibilities of a disconnected, fragmented and ephemerous modernity. A mancha, tal qual Benjamin a concebe, se aproximaria do que Lacan trata nos termos da função quadro, que só se realiza com a introdução do olhar como objeto a, do olhar como furo. Benjamin, no tratamento que confere à imagem pictórica, chega a formular que o verdadeiro problema da pintura é que, por um lado, a imagem pictórica se comporta como mancha e, inversamente, a mancha só existe no quadro. O nome e a mancha constituiriam, para ambos, categorias a partir das quais enfrentam problemas que lhes são caros e que giram em torno do estatuto do nome. Nos dois autores, encontra-se a proposição de um dilema entre a universalidade da comunicação, o singular da nomeação pura como acontecimento, e um elemento negativo, próprio do simbólico. Esse elemento negativo marcaria a impossibilidade de reunir as duas ordens, de sobrepô- las (universal e singular), marcando um elemento negativo no cerne da linguagem. O nome seria uma resposta à impossibilidade de o homem retornar à função nomeante de Deus, perdida, sem que essa queda o lance na tagarelice do comunicável, exilando de si o acontecimento, o singular, a história. O nome, assim, seria encontrado no cerne mesmo da comunicação como aquilo que lhe refrata, como aquilo que, se comportando como resto, resiste a uma apreensão universalizante.Palavras-chave: imagem pictórica; mancha; objeto a; função quadro.Abstract: This article proposes an articulation between Benjamin and Lacan, considering the Benjaminian proposition that any painting that claims the right to nomination must accomplish the entrance into the word of language in the midst of the pictorial language. The stain, as Benjamin conceives it, would approximate what Lacan treats in terms of the frame function,“ which is only accomplished by the introduction of Gaze as object a, Gaze as a hole. Benjamin, when it comes to pictorial image, formulates that the real problem of painting is that, in one hand, the pictorial image behaves as a stain, and conversely, the stain exists exclusively on the painting. The name and the stain would constitute, for both authors, categories from which they face problems that are dear to them and that revolve around the statute of the name. In both authors, there is a proposition of a dilemma between the universality of communication, the singular of pure nomination such as an occurrence, and a negative element, characteristic of the symbolic. This negative element would mark the impossibility of bringing together the two orders, of overlapping them (universal and singular) – marking a negative element at the heart of language. Além de expor algumas articulações teóricas feitas nos encontros entre o pensamento benjaminiano e a Psicanálise, esta escrita tenta contar sobre a experiência de leitura tida em grupo. Os principais pontos de trabalho percorridos no grupo são a temática da infância, das imagens, do sonho e da memória no pensamento de Benjamin, sendo esses tópicos relacionados com a teoria psicanalítica de Freud e Lacan, e neste trabalho são apresentadas algumas dessas articulações. Dentre elas, é trabalhada a relação das imagens da infância e da memória em Benjamin com a noção do infantil em psicanálise. Também são associados os limiares e as passagens narrados no texto benjaminiano com a ideia lacaniana do intervalo entre significantes e, por fim, a temática das imagens é aproximada à teoria psicanalítica a respeito dos sonhos.Palavras-chave: infância; infantil; imagem; Benjamin; psicanálise.Abstract: This work aims to share the collective experience of reading the work Berlin Childhood around 1900, carried out in the textual group “The thinking of Walter Benjamin and psychoanalysis”, held every two weeks in the Psychoanalytical Association of Porto Alegre, since March 2018. In addition to exposing some theoretical articulations between the Benjaminian thought and Psychoanalysis prepared in the meetings, this writing tries to communicate the experience of reading taken in a group. The main topics worked in the group are the thematics of childhood, images, dreams and memory in Benjamin’s thought, and these topics are related to the correspondent psychoanalytical theory of Freud and Lacan. This work tries to present some of these articulations held in the group meetings, and among them is the relation of the images of childhood and memory in Benjamin with the notion of the infantile in psychoanalysis. O trabalho sobre as Passagens, iniciado em 1927, é projeto de um livro que problematiza o avanço da modernidade capitalista em grandes metrópoles – Paris é um exemplo. As imagens verbais de Benjamin expõem uma organização da linguagem pensada como um campo de onde emerge uma complexa e intricada rede de relações entre conhecimento e experiência. A conclusão destaca a materialização do pensamento como obra de arte, cujo agrupamento de recortes ocorre pela afinidade visível entre as ideias, as “imagens de pensamento” [Denkbilder]. Desta forma, a partir do fragmento, ruínas e representações são modos de pensar uma ética do presente escrita à contrapelo da modernização: um projeto contraditório, inacabado e mal resolvido. Palavras-chave: passagens; pensamento constelar; Denkbilder.Abstract: This proposal aims to reflect the Constellation in Benjaminian thought, evidencing the plasticity concerning the organization of fragments, small essays and aphorisms: forms disproven from those authorized by historical-scientific method. The Arcades Project (started in 1927) is a kind of research which problematizes the advance of capitalist modernity in large metropolises – Paris is an example. Verbal images in Benjamin’s thought present an organization of language as a field from which emerges a complex and intricate relation between knowledge and experience. The conclusion highlights the materialization of thought as a work of art, whose grouping of fragments occurs by the visible affinity between ideas, “Thought-Images” [Denkbilder]. A questão a partir da qual o centro de sua indagação passa a ser a superficialidade e a falta de vinculação do ser humano com o ato nominativo, vulgarizando-se no decorrer do tempo, obtendo seu ápice na era moderna. A ideia na qual o ser humano se afastou de sua essência está relacionada a uma indistinção da realidade a partir da tradição grega do logos. Como crítica ao fundamento grego, Benjamin recorre à tradição da ciência cabalística hebraica ao realizar uma leitura do capítulo primeiro do pentateuco.Palavras chave: Walter Benjamin; Teoria da Linguagem; Cabala; Pentateuco.Abstract: The present article proposes to think the initial elements in Walter Benjamin’s thought on a theory of the language. The question from which the center of his inquiry becomes the superficiality and lack of attachment of the human being to the nominative act, becoming without value through the time, getting its apex in the modern age. The idea in which the human being departed from its essence is related to an indistinction of reality from the Greek tradition of logos. {"title":"Alfred Döblin, crítico-romancista: propostas para o novo romance e a aliança da teoria e da prática em Berlin Alexanderplatz","authors":"Izabela Baptista do Lago","doi":"10.17851/2179-8478.14.1.37-50","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17851/2179-8478.14.1.37-50","url":null,"abstract":"Resumo: A partir de ensaios de Alfred Döblin sobre o romance, publicados entre 1913 e 1930, o presente artigo examina as considerações críticas e teóricas do autor sobre o romance enquanto gênero literário e obra de arte em consonância com seu tempo. Considerando em especial a proposta romanesca de Döblin na forma do romance épico, uma breve análise do romance Berlin Alexanderplatz, publicado em 1929, verificará em que medida os elementos presentes nesta obra se adequam com o posicionamento expressado por seu autor. Por fim, conclui-se que Döblin concilia suas propostas teóricas com a sua prática artística, transformando-se no crítico-romancista do romance épico, alinhado com as transformações e aspirações culturais do século XX.Palavras-chave: Döblin; romance épico; crítico-romancista.Abstract: Based on Alfred Döblin’s essays on the novel, published between 1913 and 1930, this article examines the author’s critical and theoretical considerations of the novel as a literary genre and work of art in accordance with its time. Chiefly considering Döblin’s novelistic proposal in the form of the epic novel, a brief analysis of the novel Berlin Alexanderplatz, published in 1929, will verify the extent to which the elements present in this work can correspond with the position expressed by its author. Demonstra-se que ambos os autores logram rasurar a linha divisória entre espaços público e privado na cidade, reforçando a ideia de uma contiguidade indissociável entre estes nas obras em foco. Döblin pretende, com sua montagem literária de documentos, impregnar a Berlim ficcional de autenticidade, enquanto Benjamin se propõe, por meio de uma escrita fragmentária e errante, a abrir os acontecimentos singulares da vida citadina à dimensão histórica.Palavras-chave: representações da cidade, montagem literária, memória.Abstract: This article aims to analyze aspects of the distinct narrative methodswith which writers Alfred Döblin and Walter Benjamin approach the city of Berlinin their works, respectively, Berlin Alexanderplatz – the story of Franz Biberkopf,and Berlin Childhood around 1900. It is established that both authors manage to erase the dividing line between public and private spaces in the city, reassuring the idea of an inseparable contiguity between them in the focused works. Yehoshua em 1970, à luz de alguns aspectos teóricos postulados por Walter Benjamin como “alegoria”, “narrativa”, “obra épica”, entre outros. Os três textos surgem no Brasil na coletânea O novo conto israelense (1978), organizado por Rifka Berezin. Nas narrativas é possível vislumbrar algumas imagens surrealistas e expressionistas, bem como um sentido de personagem moderno que demonstra a crise do homem no século XX, tal como proposto por Benjamin. Como isso acontece em um só texto? As reflexões sobre os contos de Oz e de Yehoshua, lidos à luz de Walter Benjamin e de suas proposições sobre a vanguarda europeia, se revelam apropriadas, assim, para seavaliar essas e outras questões presentes nas narrativas.Palavras-chave: Amos Oz; Avraham B. Yehoshua; Walter Benjamin.Abstract: This article examines the short stories “The way of the wind” and “Nomad and viper”, published by Amos Oz in 1965, and the short story “Gallia’s wedding”, published by Avraham B. Yehoshua in 1970, in the light of some theoretical aspects postulated by Walter Benjamin as “allegory”, “narrative”, “epic work”, among others. The three texts appeared in Brazil in O novo conto israelense (1978), organized by Rifka Berezin. The narratives show some surrealist and expressionist images, as well as a sense of modern character that demonstrates the crisis of man in the 20th century, as proposed by Benjamin.How does it happen in a single text? Embasando-se na discussão desses textos, pretende-se esclarecer a relação deles com o formalismo russo, importante movimento crítico que ocorreu contemporaneamente ao cubofuturismo. Para tanto, pretende-se explicitar como a figura de Vladimir Maiakovski estabeleceu um elo de ligação entre esses dois movimentos – o crítico e o literário – e de que forma o poeta tornou-se importante marco para ocubofuturismo russo e para engajamento político social do movimento literário. Este trabalho pretende expandir as informações e as visões apresentadas por Benjamim em seus textos, sobretudo em relação à atualização acerca do progresso destes movimentos literários e à importância deles, que dificilmente poderiam ser antevistos pelo teórico alemão no momento de produção de seus escritos.Palavras-chave: Cubofuturismo; Futurismo; Formalismo russo; Maiakovski.Abstract: This study aims to deal with the singularities of Russian futurism, named Cubo-Futurism, based on the writings of Walter Benjamin, exposed in the texts “New Russian Literature” (1927) and “The Political Groupings of Russian Writers” (1927). Based on the discussion of these texts, it is intended to clarify their relationship with Russian formalism, an important critical movement which happened contemporaneously with Cubo-Futurism. For this purpose, it aims to explain how the figure of Vladimir Mayakovsky established a connecting link between these two movements – the critic and the literary – and how the poet became an important symbol for Russian Cubo-Futurism and also for the social and political engagement of the literary movement.
