Zambia and South Africa’s major economic challenges revolve around the persistent economic dependence on copper and gold. Within the context of their broader goals to diversify their economies, Zambia has struggled to reduce its reliance on copper despite various initiatives, while South Africa faces declining gold production and the need to adapt to global sustainability trends and changing resource demands. Using a dynamic Panel ARDL model, the study analyzed the effects of Commodity-based Industrialization on growth using panel data from 1970-2022 for South Africa and Zambia. The results showed that the effect of Commodity-based industrial exports (manufactured exports) on growth was the most significant and positive in the long run. In the short run, however, this variable was negative and significant. Furthermore, the effect of ores, metal and food exports was established to be negative and non-significant in the long run. In the short run, however, these were negative and significant. In the same vein, Foreign direct investment also exhibited a positive and significant effect on economic growth in the long run while its effect being negative was insignificant in the short run. The study concluded that while extractive and low-value exports are the most feasible in the case of most developing countries, to be able to accelerate economic growth through industrial exports, these nations will have to re-engineer their industrial sector towards a more commodity-aligned approach that puts value addition through regional value chains at its pinnacle.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"22 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141655282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research is a quantitative descriptive research and the samples of this research are several food and beverage sellers and visitors of the Paloh Naga tourist attraction. The results of this study are that the management of the Palo Naga tourist attraction is very serious to guide the community, especially housewives in supporting the Palo Naga tourist attraction to sell in the tourist attraction area. All outlets are provided by the manager to be used as a place to sell free of charge and all sellers involved are from local residents. To improve the skills of these women sellers, the management often organizes training, both training on food processing and making souvenirs, in collaboration with some agencies by providing vocational homes as places for the training. The existence of the Palo Naga tourist attraction which utilizes the community's paddy fields besides having a cool natural and village feel as a visitor attraction, turns out to be a reason to enjoy the atmosphere and traditional food at this tourist attraction has a very strong influence on visitors coming. Most of the food and drinks are rather difficult to find in the city and the transaction system is also quite interesting where payments to sellers are not in cash, but using a medium of exchange made of wood.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"123 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139605335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Almost every house in Meat village is weaving, only a few Meat villagers process fish by frying it and marketing it out of town. The large number of living habitats of glass-glass fish causes a decrease in the population of pora-pora. The residents in the meat village and its surroundings cannot process the glass fish because it has hard thorns. For this reason, the author examines whether pora-pora fish can be processed and used as souvenirs typical of Toba Regency using qualitative research methods. And based on the results of experiments that have been done, glass fish can be processed into chips with the right standard recipes and procedures. Glass fish chips have a savory taste and crumbly texture. This glass fish can be consumed by residents, and can be marketed in Toba district. It can be as a snack or souvenir by visitors, considering that this type of snack can last a long time.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"27 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139608839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has a unique appeal as it offers visitors a traditional shopping experience that involves the local culture. The market is also the perfect place to sample typical Deli Serdang food. Pasar Kamu Desa Denai Lama is also often a tourist spot for cultural festivals or special events. It offers art and cultural performances, handicraft exhibitions, and other traditional activities. Conventional markets, however, sometimes face competition from contemporary retail, shopping centers, or online shopping platforms. In order to survive and thrive amidst the competition, it is imperative for the Kamu Desa Denai Lama market to increase customer interest in revisiting. Research focused on the factors that influence customer interest in returning to the market should be conducted to solve this problem. The level of public trust and consumer loyalty are two important components in increasing customer interest in returning. This research uses a quantitative approach to analyze. where data in the form of numbers is processed and analyzed to produce scientific information. With the aid of the Vector error correction model, the study found that increases in the Real GDP, and Foreign Direct Investment of Zambia positively and significantly affected the volume of exports. In the analysis of aggregate exports, the non-significance of the relative price elasticity (Foreign Exchange rate) suggests that trade policies that concentrate overly on expenditure switching such as tariff and non-tariff restrictions or devaluations do not effectively assist trade policy reform efforts. The study thus recommends the need to promote inclusiveness, diversification and growth in investment towards the production of export commodities, particularly through the Multi-Facility Economic Zones by providing incentives to expand export diversification and growth at the local level through revising the Fiscal and non-Fiscal incentive thresholds in MFEZs to reflect the financing capacity of local investors.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"16 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139610490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interconnection between food and tourism is currently growing. This research is an ethnographic study to support the acceleration of culinary tourism development in Simalungun Regency. Data were collected through observation and ethnographic interviews with 3 informants, namely key informants, main informants, and supporting informants. Using selective observation and contrasting questions, several contrasting dimensions among the residents of a domain can be identified (for example, we will know that the main foods are \"dayok nabinatur\" and \"saksang,\" while desserts are found in \"lapet boras\" and \"marlakop-lakop,\" and perhaps many more contrasts between main dishes and desserts). Such contrasting issues are the focus of componential analysis. Categorization of culinary based on local wisdom can be seen from the following elements: 1) culinary naming in Batak language; 2) cultural themes behind culinary presentation; 3) basic food ingredients; 4) local spices/herbs; and 5) the cooking process of local culinary. The potential of local culinary wisdom and culinary tourism based on local wisdom is worthy of development into a new tourist attraction, namely culinary tourism, to attract tourists.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"9 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139610833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to examine demographic factors and how they affect the work-life balance of people who work in Nepal's commercial banks. To select the sample from the various commercial banks, the study used a convenient sampling technique. Data were collected from 144 employees of Nepal's \"A\" class commercial banks. The 14-item scale served as a measurement for work-life balance. Using the application SPSS version 20, the results were tabulated and examined. Correlation analysis, independent sample t-tests, and one-way ANOVA were used as statistical analytical techniques to achieve the objective. According to the findings, married and unmarried employees have very different work-life balances. Additional significant differences in work-life balance were discovered when other demographic factors like the number of children and work history at the current job were taken into account. However, the results show that work-life balance is not significantly impacted by gender, job position, and family structures. Further study reveals that employees are more likely to feel satisfied at work than at home with the way their tasks and responsibilities are being managed.","PeriodicalId":40031,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Economics and Management","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136354707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
