{"title":"Trendy subiektywnego stanu psychicznego psychologów podczas 5 fal pandemii COVID-19 w Polsce. Badanie prospektywne","authors":"Marlena Sokół-Szawłowska, Paweł Mierzejewski","doi":"10.5603/psych.94950","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5603/psych.94950","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the social and medical role of psychologists has become to help societies adapt to unexpected and sudden life changes. The need to switch from personal to remote contacts in the work environment, combining professional duties with private life and the growing number of psychopathological symptoms in patients became a source of overload, the level of which was compared in studies even to doctors treating COVID-19. The aim is to analyze the subjective mental state of the surveyed psychologists in 5 waves of the pandemic in Poland. Material and methods: Data was collected for 5 waves of the pandemic in Poland. The online questionnaire was placed on the website of the Polish Psychiatric Association, and the number of respondents was decreasing (I — 341, II — 123, III — 118, IV — 67, V — 61). On the basis of the obtained data, trends in subjective mental state were studied. Results: A study in a group of psychologists showed a trend of increasing subjective stress, depressed mood and lowered energy levels after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, up to the highest levels in the third wave. Subsequently, the trend in these areas decreased. Stress and depressed mood accompanied the respondents at a disturbingly high level also in 5 th wave. Deterioration of various aspects of sleep and an increase in the tendency to psychogenic overeating took place during the periods of greatest stress during successive waves with a clear tendency to withdraw after the third wave of SARS-CoV-2. Conclusions: The subjective mental state of psychologists was deteriorating depending on the increase in the number of SARS-CoV-2 infections in Poland until the third wave. Then it improved, although in the 5 th wave, high percentages in the area of stress and depressed mood were still worrying, and hence it was close to professional burnout. Further research is needed.","PeriodicalId":39960,"journal":{"name":"Psychiatria","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136357445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between the experiences and feelings accompanying medical students in Poland during the pandemic and the occurrence of anxiety, depression and excessive daytime sleepiness. Material and methods: For this purpose, a questionnaire was designed on the \"LimeSurvey\" portal. The questionnaire contained 4 parts: questions about personal experiences of the pandemic, Beck depression test, GAD-7 generalized anxiety questionnaire and ESS sleepiness scale. The results collected from I-VI year medical students from 20 medical universities in Poland were processed using the statistical program \"Statistica.\" 2339 correctly completed questionnaires were obtained. Results: It turned out that 22.6% of the respondents had experienced the death of a loved one during the pandemic, and among 29.9% of the students there were severe cases of the disease in the family. More than 49% of the respondents felt anxiety about the possibility of their loved ones contracting COVID. 19% of respondents had temporarily lost contact with loved ones. The responses significantly correlated with the severity of depression as measured by the Beck scale, increased anxiety on the GAD-7 test and increased sleepiness on the ESS scale. Conclusions: The results of the study indicate the negative impact of the pandemic on the mental health of medical students. For this reason, consideration should be given to providing easy access to specialized psychological help for the academic community.","PeriodicalId":39960,"journal":{"name":"Psychiatria","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135146687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study is to identify the impact of tryptophan on psychological portrait in patients hospitalized psychiatrically. This pilot study included 59 participants, aged 19–65, psychiatrically hospitalized. The Adjective Checklist (ACL) was used to identify personality traits of the subjects. Blood specimens were collected and measured for tryptophan, N-formylkynurenine and kynurenine. The Spearman’s rho was used to analyse the relation between psychological picture and biochemical measures. The conducted statistical analysis revealed several significant relationships between personality traits and fluorescence of tryptophan and N-formylkynurenine. No significant correlations between tryptophan levels and suicidality or diagnosis were disclosed. Outcomes are discussed in terms of potential influence of genetic factors, both on personality and tryptophan levels.","PeriodicalId":39960,"journal":{"name":"Psychiatria","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134945189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
