The possibility of critical infrastructure services being disrupted would have a significant impact on the wider society as it involves energy, water, gas, transport, and many more utilities. This paper examines critical infrastructure and the system that monitors and controls critical services. It also measures the information security aspects of the system by adopting Integrated System Theory which covers the importance of enforcing cyber security policies, assessing and managing risks, internal control-management, technical and process controls and information auditing. This study was initiated by preliminary interviews with experts from different countries on the themes of awareness, compliance and assessments, and measures and controls. Subsequently, a pilot study was done by conducting online surveys to practitioners from different countries, and several different critical infrastructure sectors on the existing information security practices in their organisations. We examined the constituents of existing policies, and controls implemented by the organisations. The conclusion was made the pilot study would provide a good basis for estimating and measuring the security awareness and controls implemented at the organisation level.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"163 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133952205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After a simple description of fuzzy due time and the fuzzy vehicle routing problem, a multi-objective mathematical model for the problem is built. Then, an insertion heuristic-based hybrid genetic algorithm is proposed to this kind of problem. In this algorithm, the modified push-bump-throw procedure is employed to handle the fuzzy nature of the problem. Finally, an extensive computational analysis is presented, which identifies the tradeoffs between the different objectives, and the superiority of the genetic algorithm is proved through the comparison of the genetic algorithms with improved Solomon insert heuristic algorithm.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132596503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are closely linked with the exploitation and transportation processes of oil and gas, making up an open complex system. Its failure often causes a chain reaction, which will further lead to serious or even catastrophic accidents with significant economic losses. Fault coupling and cascading are the “the real ultimate causes” of system breakdown, due to the complexity of its structure and behavior, as well as the high correlation and strong interaction among subsystems, system and environment. A new approach for root cause reasoning based on fault fuzzy Petri net is proposed considering the characteristics of cascading faults. The probability of each fault mode can be calculated and the fault propagation paths are ratiocinated. In this way, the proactive maintenance strategy or emergency plan can be made in advance to prevent accident. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method is validated in the application of gearbox of the flue gas turbine used in refining system. The results reported in this paper could be useful for the petroleum engineering system designers and safety management personal.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116381810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The necessity and main principles of the coach evaluation system are analyzed. First of all, Delphi method and frequency statistics method are used to determine the indexes of the evaluation system, and then the weight of each index is calculated by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and literature method. Secondly, the legendary coach is evaluated by the primary, secondary (objective evaluation system) and final selection model (subjective evaluation system). Take National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for example, the best basketball coach in this century is evaluated in the end. After testing the model, it can not only provide references when looking for the “legendary coach” but also help Sports Administration to establish incentive mechanism to train more excellent coaches.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125148360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LDA is a probabilistic topic model which processes documents as the probability distribution of topics. One challenging issue in application of LDA is to select the optimal number of topics in LDA model. Evaluation results show that the proposed method can generate an optimal number of topics automatically with a small number of iterations.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117150782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In practice, PLSA will result in overfitting problems, including the circumstance of unclear membership of topics and the case of high similarity between different topics. In this paper, we describe a dynamic threshold model based PLSA(dPLSA). It can make the ambiguous topic information more clear and objectified. Meanwhile, dPLSA can dynamically determine whether to merge the similar topics, in terms of the potential similarity between different topics. Experimental results on image data sets show that the proposed method outperforms its rival ones for solving the overfitting problems.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125299072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Commonly used method of fuzzy cluster analysis is the fuzzy C-means algorithm (FCM), which easily traps into local optimal solution. An algorithm combining FCM with genetic algorithms is introduced for aerial remote sensing image fuzzy clustering analysis. The input image features are extracted based on a new descriptor which combines Gabor descriptor with Gist descriptor. The dimension reduction of the extracted feature vector is processed through principal component analysis. Then the extracted features from in-house aerial images dataset are clustered with proposed method. Experiment shows that this method can get a good clustering effect.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128149593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, no existing research has shed light on the effect of spurious and missing minutiae on Delaunay triangulation when it is applied to fingerprint authentication. In this paper, we provide some straightforward information as to how much effect spurious and missing minutiae can have on Delaunay triangulation. Our investigation is supported by the results of experiments carried out on two common variants of Delaunay triangulation in four different cases. PMUs offer a more current and accurate visibility of the power grids than traditional SCADA systems. However, the high sampling rates of PMUs bring in two major challenges that need to be addressed to fully benefit from these PMU measurements. On one hand, any transient events captured in the PMU measurements can negatively impact the performance of steady state analysis. On the other hand, processing the high volumes of PMU data in a timely manner poses another challenge in computation. This paper presents PDFA, a parallel detrended fluctuation analysis approach for fast detection of transient events on massive PMU measurements utilizing a computer cluster. The performance of PDFA is evaluated from the aspects of speedup, scalability and accuracy in comparison with the standalone DFA approach.","PeriodicalId":397095,"journal":{"name":"2014 11th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133087585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
