In our system, multiple projectors output different individual images onto the same surface to display one synthesized image. When the human body or objects occlude some of projectors, it reveals images from other projectors. Fragment Shadow enables the image synthesis pipeline in XYZ color space by the bi-directional conversion of RGB and XYZ color space and the correction of un-uniformity of projectors in addition to the geometry calibration between multiple projectors. Our optical shadow can be visually transformed with various expressions, such as geometrically fragments, textured shadow in the completely different visual and even putting our shadows in between the multiple layers of projection images. We envision the visual transformation of own optical shadow can provide unique sensations to our own bodies.","PeriodicalId":396121,"journal":{"name":"ACM SIGGRAPH 2019 Studio","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123955847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such rapid prototyping environment is ideal for entertainment computing, as well as for artists and live performances using real-time interactive graphics. One such way is mural or graffiti drawing by flying robots [Katsu 2018; TsuruRobotics 2018; Vempati et al. 2018]. This is itself a novel approach, which only recently gained traction and moved to full or partial autonomous operations. Key hurdles of drone graffiti are complicated system setup and a long painting process, associated with that only one drone is available at a time. Here we present a multi-drone graffiti dispatch system tested on up to three actual aerial robots operating simultaneously in real-time. The developed task dispatch system proved to be robust and effective. Although the proposed system and approach is best demonstrated by artistic applications, it can be transferred to commercial applications that need precise aerial vehicle operation, such as commercial painting, cleaning, and non-destructive control.","PeriodicalId":396121,"journal":{"name":"ACM SIGGRAPH 2019 Studio","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115279037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is easy to use, requiring no prior knowledge of programming, yet powerful in creating novel embroidery. It is used by designers to experiment with generative aesthetics and precision embroidery. It is also a vehicle for innovative workshops combining an introduction to programming with a haptic output. It has been used as part of semester long undergraduate courses in contextualize computing emphasizing textile crafting. This installation provides participants with an opportunity to develop expertise in using the web-based TurtleStitch software to create an embroidery pattern of their own. An embroidery machine is viewed as a robot that uses a stored algorithm to navigate a sewing needle on fabric to render a design. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn to use the available embroidery machines and become familiar with how simulated perfection translates to real-time machine robotics. Participants can take away a small embroidery 'patch' of their own design. Those interested in collaborative design may contribute to one or more large tapestry quilt projects to be completed during SIGGRAPH. Those with an interest in computation may explore foundational concepts such as the power of parameters, unraveling concurrency to efficiently support multiple colors, and path finding algorithms to produce designs without jump stitches.","PeriodicalId":396121,"journal":{"name":"ACM SIGGRAPH 2019 Studio","volume":"383 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124766709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
