Despite these advances, these machines continue underutilized in network environments due to operating system limitations regarding the management of these devices. These limitations force the use of these devices via other network hardware, such as a server, that manage the device access and data. While effective, this results in increased resource consumption and ignores the capabilities presented by network-attached devices. In order to facilitate optimal utilization of these devices, we have designed a new, extensible management architecture for all network-attached devices. This architecture, presented here, supports the central management of network-attached devices while allowing client machines access to the device without intermediate server hardware. Implementation of this paradigm on test networks has decreased resource consumption - especially bandwidth - considerably.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131870103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper focuses in the software layer, also know as middleware. Many standard multimedia languages have a similar syntax and semantics to describe hypermedia documents, such as synchronized multimedia integration language and nested context model. However, each one of these languages can only be interpreted by its specific middleware. This scenario generates an enormous problem because a hypermedia document model designed for a specific standard can not be widely shared. Consequently, a same hypermedia document must be translated in several other standards to be widely shared, increasing the authoring efforts and waste of time. This paper introduces a model driven approach to support the widely sharing of hypermedia documents.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114604523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These UML 2.0 profiles should be effectively accommodated by standard UML-based modeling tools, which provide the means for applying them in practice. Almost every UML 2.0 modeling tool supports the definition of stereotypes and the description of constraints in Object Constraint Language. However, implementing a profile in practice often entails the development of additional functionality. This requirement mainly stems from the fact that when dealing with complex models it is more efficient for end-users to help them enforce a constraint rather than notify them when it is broken. Such issues, encountered when developing a UML 2.0 profile for enterprise information systems engineering using Rational Software Modeler as a standard UML 2.0 modeling tool, are discussed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124807229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Decisions can be made by an individual or a group. Currently it is not known how decision-making is organized in software industry. However, that knowledge is needed to improve the decision-making processes. Therefore, we have studied 29 decision making experts, who were involved in software evolution decision-making. The study was performed with qualitative methods, which enabled the gathering of versatile information concerning the views of the decision-makers. The study revealed group decisions are widely used both in private and public organizations and attitudes towards them are generally positive or neutral. The study provided information about usage of groups in the preparation phase of the decisions and in the actual decision-making phase. In most cases groups were used in the preparation phase. The revealed decision-making process is related to two theoretical process models. The findings help to understand industrial decision-making in this important, but empirically surprisingly scarcely studied area.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128276254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an admission control scheme for overload management in large-scale and scalable content-based publish/subscribe systems. We analyze the stumbling block for implementing admission control in publish/subscribe systems, and point out how it differs from admission control schemes in other research areas. We propose a cover relation based algorithm to compute subscription resource requirements and an admission control algorithm based on subscription routing. The scheme ensures time, space and flows decoupling without sacrificing scalability of publish/subscribe systems. Finally, we conduct experiments to verify the effectiveness of the scheme.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129640600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most of them practice modules' coupling in many cases without necessities. Many techniques have been proposed to detect module's coupling in computer programs. However, developers desire to automatically identify unnecessary module's coupling that can be eliminated with minimum effort, which we refer to as redundant coupling. Redundant coupling is the module coupling that does not contribute to the output of the program. In this paper we introduce an automated approach that uses the dynamic dependence analysis to detect the redundant coupling between program's modules. Such technique guides the developers to avoid redundant coupling when testing their programs.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"9 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114133141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, testing the user input validation function is an intellectual and labor intensive task. We are developing a model driven framework to help testers to accomplish this job in visual view with guidance. This paper reports our on-going work. A meta-model of Web application for user input validation testing is defined. Based on the meta-model, by analyzing HTML files, a light weight method is given to create the model. Our evaluation shows that the proposed method can comprehensively model Web applications, and accurately identify the purpose of input points, which are very important for the test case generation in the future.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"193 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113992593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the momentum observable by the growing number of specifications in the web service domain for the indispensable cross-cutting concern of identity management (IdM) it is still an open issue how a WSOA-aware IdM architecture is built and how it is linked with WSOA's main elements, the web services providing functional core concerns. In this paper we present an access control model for WSOA and a blueprint of a WSOA- aware authorization verification service which is part of the IdM architecture. We show the integration of this service with WSOA consisting of both basic and composite web services. Our solution has been tested and evaluated in an implementation case study.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131636681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These models are typically specified using OMG's Unified Modeling Language (UML) . In MDD, model transformation and model composition are two essential model management tasks. Model transformation has been extensively researched while model composition still needs further investigation. The goal of this paper is to propose a guidance for model composition (specifically for class diagrams composition) based on match rules, model transformation rules and model composition strategy. Moreover, we present UML Profile for Model Composition and make an analysis about UML's composition mechanism.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115644366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are created through white-box scenarios that model the behavior of the system. Sequence diagrams are the most popular UML artifact for scenarios modeling. Though closely related, the CRC cards methodology is not supported by most UML modeling tools, and tools that support CRC cards do not support UML diagrams. This paper presents EasyCRC, a tool that combines sequence diagrams with CRC cards, originally written to teach the object-oriented paradigm.","PeriodicalId":395851,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Software Engineering Advances (ICSEA 2007)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115689095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
