The protocol enable the middle node lies between the source and destination to decide whether to relay for them adaptively based on the current channel state information (CSI). Because the channel with better quality can transmit data with higher rate, and distance is one of the primary factors that determine wireless channel quality, the throughput will be greatly improved if there is a higher rate supporting relay between source and destination. Besides, the throughput can be farther improved due to its ability to cooperative retransmit by taking advantage of the spatial diversity. When there is a transmission error, the relay will retransmit the signal that it received during the error slot to the destination in the following slot. By processing the originally received error packet and the packet retransmitted by the relay, the destination node can recover the original packets. The proposed approach is approved to have good performance by simulation based on NS2 platform.","PeriodicalId":393914,"journal":{"name":"2007 Second International Conference on Access Networks & Workshops","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117116231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the performance of cdma2000 1xEV-DV reverse packet data channel is investigated. In particular, based on the properties of the 1xEV-DV turbo encoder, lower bounds on the probabilities of data sub-packets acceptance are derived. Using these probabilities, expressions for the expected file transmission times and effective data rates are provided.","PeriodicalId":393914,"journal":{"name":"2007 Second International Conference on Access Networks & Workshops","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123022822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Major advances in satellite technology on the one hand and market demand for small, low-cost high-speed user terminals and low service-subscription fees on the other hand have helped pave the way for the introduction of direct-to-consumer satellite services. In view of the emerging large, powerful, versatile satellites and growing consensus among satellite service providers to offer the TV broadcast and high-speed interactive services both to the same user base, an advanced satellite system concept, which can integrate the distinct features of both Ku-band broadcast and Ka-band access satellites, while optimizing satellite resources, is proposed. This paper presents the baseline definition of this broadband satellite payload, and discusses all major aspects of the system design.","PeriodicalId":393914,"journal":{"name":"2007 Second International Conference on Access Networks & Workshops","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121298728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reliable Multicast plays a significant role in many applications of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). In recent years, a number of protocols have been proposed to deliver multicast packets reliably. In this paper we intend to propose a reliable multicast algorithm with local recovery approach, because importance of on-demand routing protocol we use this method in our algorithm. By using this algorithm nodes can join to multicast group in minimum time and data delivery will be increase. This method achieves fast recovery when route breakage happens, so destination can connect to source in new route or the same route.","PeriodicalId":393914,"journal":{"name":"2007 Second International Conference on Access Networks & Workshops","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123753734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new Markov chain model considering capture effect for the binary exponential back-off scheme in the MAC layer has been proposed in the first time. Based on the new Markov chain model, a new throughput model is proposed, and then the impact of capture effect on throughput has been analyzed in the condition of different transmission speeds. The performance analysis shows that, in the RTS/CTS scheme, the improvement throughput of high speed networks caused by capture effect is more than that of low speed networks.","PeriodicalId":393914,"journal":{"name":"2007 Second International Conference on Access Networks & Workshops","volume":"45 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132192487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
