Current research has mostly focused on tackling the temporal volatility of the stream, overlooking other inherent features of incoming items. In this paper, we argue that novel window types, other than strictly temporal, can also prove adequate in providing finite portions of multidimensional streams. We systematically examine the particular case of spatiotemporal streams generated from moving point objects and we introduce a comprehensive classification of window variants useful in expressing the most common operations, such as range or nearest- neighbor search. This phenomenon is mostly due to the daily collection of telecommunication data from mobile phones and other location-aware devices and is expected to enable novel classes of applications based on the extraction of behavioral patterns from mobility data. Such patterns could be used for instance in traffic and sustainable mobility management (e.g., to study the accessibility to services), urban planning, environmental monitoring, and collaborative location-based services. Clearly, in these applications privacy is a concern, since some knowledge may be sensitive, or an over-specific pattern may reveal the behaviour of groups of few individual. PLACE* supports continuous spatio-temporal queries that hop among a network of regional servers. To minimize the execution cost, a new Query-Track- Participate (QTP) query processing model is proposed inside PLACE*. In the QTP model, a query is continuously answered by a querying server, a tracking server, and a set of participating servers. In this paper, we focus on query plan generation, execution and update algorithms for continuous range queries in PLACE* using QTP. The reliable transport of high volumes of sampled data through a multi-hop network with limited resources requires sophisticated protocols. This paper presents a novel protocol for this task that uses minimal energy, provides high throughput, and requires only small amounts of additional buffer. We present a new technique, Distributed Euler Histograms (DEHs), to store and query aggregated moving object data. Aggregate queries occur in a variety of applications ranging from wildlife monitoring to traffic management. We assume that the users' exact locations have been blurred into spatial regions based on user-specified privacy requirements. Inspired by the concept of Voronoi cell of point data, we introduce the concept of Voronoi cell for regions (VCR) and propose the framework to answer the privacy-ware RNN queries based on computing the VCR.
