The study's theoretical framework is Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy because it helps provide a comprehensive and multicultural viewpoint. The study is qualitative. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews, and the method of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was employed to understand the participants' experiences. Using an inductive approach, three themes were generated, leading to discussion and conclusion. The study is significant because the findings can contribute to building a theory of individual resilience.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128961135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yet, for some Pacific nations, cities are the home for most of their citizens. In this thematic literature review, we direct our attention toward the increasingly important topic of food security in Pacific cities. We investigate how the urban informal food sector historically has provided a baseline of food security in Pacific cities. The production, livelihood, and exchange practices that define the urban informal food sector can be traced back to the forms of urbanisation and migration that occurred in the post-independence era in the Pacific. However, we also identify how urban formalisation and globalisation are undermining the key tenets of social relationality that the informal food sector relies upon. As such, the forms of food security provided by the urban informal food sector are being slowly eroded. By identifying these disruptions to the informal urban food sector, we identify pragmatic pathways to develop the basis of a conceptual framework for urban food security in the Pacific. These pathways revolve around invigorating the forms of social relationality within the informal food sector's production, livelihood, and exchange practices.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126496479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whole activities are forced to distance themselves, so they have to rely on the existence of the internet, including economic activities through e-commerce. In Indonesia, many internet users become an opportunity for small entrepreneurs, namely Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), to implement e-commerce. ICT development in Indonesia also still shows inequality, especially between Indonesia's West and East Region. This condition indicates the diversity of characteristics in each region to the level of e-commerce application. This study aims to identify local spatial effects and factors that influence the percentage of MSMEs implementing e-commerce in each province in Indonesia in 2020 using Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR). The result shows spatial heterogeneity in the model of MSMEs implementing e-commerce percentage. Six regional groups have similar characteristics based on independent variables that significantly affect the MSMEs implementing e-commerce percentage. In most WRI and ERI areas, the MSMEs implementing e-commerce percentage is significantly influenced by the percentage of households that make purchases via the internet. GER of tertiary education growth has a significant effect on whole of the WRI areas. In contrast, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has a significant effect on most of the ERI areas. Hence, the government needs to pay attention to characteristics of each region for encouraging the development of e-commerce for MSME players in Indonesia, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123998102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Economic resilience can be achieved through either or both inherent and adaptive strategies. Inherent resilience is an ordinary ability to manage a crisis, and it is routinely provided through resource allocation. Adaptive resilience is generally the system's ability to maintain functionality after being shocked that is achievable on the basis of extra effort. Due to large degrees of interdependencies between economic sectors, adaptive resilience in one sector can be significantly affected by changes in adaptive capacities in another. Therefore, efforts to build economic resilience cannot be implemented only by governments and at the macro level.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116816938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies show that understanding of organisations as complex socio-technical systems is important to understanding OrgRes. Often, these studies focus on micro- and macro-perspectives that address individuals as actors in systems. Or they address organisational factors that can be improved (for example, employee training, risk management policies, and operational processes) in order to anticipate and respond to various events.  Some of these studies suggest the need for a more holistic perspective that includes formal and informal approaches. Building on these insights, here it is argued that understanding and attention to ‘organisation culture’ provides a lens by which organisations can better prepare for future challenges, especially where contexts of high uncertainty and volatility may prevail. Using the metaphor of an iceberg for organisational culture (OrgCulture), cultivation of resilience within organisations, allows for the embedding of a resilience-based approach into the fabric of organisations, such that it permeates organisational values and principles and informs policies and practices. Such conceptualisation of OrgRes, will enable establishing of deep internal ideologies that effect enduring ‘ways of thinking and doing’ that better prepare organisations for the future.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126205435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A spiritually-based leadership can provide the building blocks for creating resilient organisations. The study elaborates on spiritual leadership and provides a tool kit for organisations to build resilience in their organisations by leveraging spiritual leadership. The study traces the evolution of leadership from the historic Great Man Theory to contemporary theories like Servant Leadership and Spiritual Leadership, putting into context the current organisational realities .The data for the study was collected through surveys involving 386 respondents across 25 organisations based in the cities of Mumbai and Pune, India.This data was collected over approximately one year .The data was analysed using SPSS and various statistical methods. Hypothesis drawn were tested using Carl Pearson's Coefficient of Correlation, One way Annova, Independent Sample t test. The data collected from surveys also underwent Thematic Analysis using Braun and Clark's (2006) methodology to build Four themes which were used to propose a resilience framework .","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115538587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It argues that these techniques, based as they are on the labour theory of value, are compatible with: (a) the efforts of Modern Monetary Theorists to achieve full employment through a return to active fiscal policy (with the GDP gap serving as an estimate of the level of additional aggregate demand required to this end); (b) national income accounting procedures taken up by the United Nations; (c) the work of industrial ecologists who use input-output techniques to support and inform their analysis of waste, pollution, and the unsustainable use of renewable and non-renewable resources. It argues that, with slight modification, the techniques originally developed by Kantorovich and Novozhilov could be applied to the construction of metrics that account for the ‘short-changing’ of nature. For example, they could incorporate estimates of the labour time required to prevent unsustainable exploitation of renewable resources (including through higher levels of recycling and restocking), the use of non-renewable resources at rates exceeding the time required to produce substitutes, and the time required for adequate remediation and restoration of polluted resources (including investment in new transport and power generation systems).","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"178 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122351790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate the effect of mortality threat on attitude and intention to buy healthcare brands during the pandemic. Grounded on Terror Management Theory, the current study assumes that ones' attitude and intention to buy a premium healthcare brand will increase when reminded of their death. This study deploys an experimental approach in Indonesia involving two groups of participants: high and low mortality saliences. The former group receives scenarios about the accident and natural disaster news followed by death tolls, while the latter receives similar news without human casualties. Subsequently, the participants are asked to view a premium healthcare brand advertisement and answer questions on attitude and intention to purchase the brand. The study finds a significant difference between the high-mortality-salience group and the low-level one in their responses to premium healthcare brands. Furthermore, the low-level group shows their increasing attitude and intention to buy economical brands. These indicate health anxiety influences healthcare-brand engagement in general, yet the response is different between the high and low mortality-salience groups.","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"206 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116395333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This community comprises a cultural integration of American and Latinx cultures, which is evident within business and consumer practices. Accordingly, business and branding strategy is culturally oriented and culturally expressive. This paper presents two business cases that illustrate how cultural positioning is achieved with local brands that expand beyond the local context to the mainstream market. The two cases presented in this paper are Topo Chico and Laredo Taco. Each of these cases began within a cultural niche with recognized potential that translated to the mainstream American market, demonstrating strategic resilience along the way. The Topo Chico case shows perseverance in a bottle and the Laredo Taco case shows resilience combined as authenticity and innovation. The implications of the cases presented to demonstrate the value of a strong cultural positioning, strategic alliances, and a view to the longer term and farther horizon.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":392988,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Resilient Economies (ISSN: 2653-1917)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122967401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
