Groundwater studies had been conducted for the development of resources and the protection of the environment in the past. These days, in addition, they are contributing to thermal energy use and practical use of the deep groundwater environment for high-level radioactive waste (HLW) and carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) projects. This issue can be effectively addressed by incubation experiments using subsurface water/sediment samples with high methanogenic potential, followed by subjecting the obtained enrichment culture to the analyses of metagenome, metatranscriptome, and metabolome as well as stable isotope tracer experiments. Nishimura","doi":"10.5571/synth.12.2_57","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5571/synth.12.2_57","url":null,"abstract":"Therefore, in the 1990s, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria required the use of biodegradable hydraulic oil (hereinafter called bio-oil) in construction machinery, as such oil is broken down in a short period into carbon gas and water by natural microorganisms. This was enforced through administrative actions of local governments based on Germany’s Federal Water Act. The mandatory use of bio-oil in construction machinery has affected the entire EU regions and spread throughout the environmental protection areas. In 2002, the ISO standard was set for the quality standard of bio-oil. [10][11] The main research subject of such promising study is the relationship between patents and academic papers. Scholars call this knowledge flow “science linkage.” Academic papers are important results of scientific research and are the source from which new technologies can be developed and applied to various fields. [12][13] According to recent studies, standardization has both positive and negative influences on the production of patents and S This study focused on the knowledge formation of an image-digitizing technology (MPEG). Based on the observed result, we propose the scenario for the knowledge creation including standardization. We firstly demonstrate how standardization changes the science linkage between patents and academic articles. Secondly, we discuss the relevance of the bibliographic clustering method (BCCN) for this analysis.
