A list of identified taxa includes 44 species/subspecies from 31 genera and 22 families. Of these, seven species are recorded for the first time from Vietnam, and two species are recorded for the first time from the Oriental region. Sixteen species of oribatid mites were collected from tree boles, 36 species, from tree crowns. The Jaccard index, measuring faunistic similarity, was equal to 0.18 for the mite communities of both zones.","PeriodicalId":39162,"journal":{"name":"Acarina","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48979089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being most close to T. carpi Till, 1954, the new species differs from the latter in the following: in both sexes, setae c3 and sRIII have a small subapical denticle; in males, the apophyses of adanal apodemes are situated posterior to the level of adanal suckers, and setae 4b are situated distinctly anterior to the level of setae 3a; in females, setae h1 are 5–8 μm long, the copulatory opening is distant from the free margin of interlobar membrane, and the posterior part of the hysteronotal shield is entirely covered with well-outlined circular and ovate lacunae. A brief note on a world distribution of the genus Trouessartia is provided.","PeriodicalId":39162,"journal":{"name":"Acarina","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67879398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the question of how gallogenesis affects leaf assimilation surface and photosynthetic activity of the host plants is poorly understood. We have examined the influence of gall-forming mites from the genera Eriophyes and Acalitus on leaf size, shape and photosynthetic pigment content in five deciduous tree species near the city of Tyumen, West Siberia. The gall mite infestation resulted in chlorosis, destruction of photosynthetic apparatus in gall-infected leaf parts, leaf deformation and a decrease in leaf area. The magnitude of the effects on leaf size and shape varied among the studied mite–tree systems and did not depend on the infection severity. On the contrary, chlorophyll and carotenoid amounts per leaf decreased in an infection severity-dependent manner in all mite–host plant variants. Mite-induced galls did not influence the pigment concentration in green uninfected gaps between galls. Additionally, the chlorophyll amount in the infected leaves has decreased due to the destruction of the pigment complex in the galled leaf areas and a decrease of the whole-leaf area. As a result, the losses of chlorophylls and carotenoids in leaves of all studied trees were directly related to the infection severity (quantified as the proportion of damaged leaf area to the total leaf area). Our results may help developing an approach to assess the effect of gall mites on the chlorophyll content and the photosynthetic productivity of trees, based on the direct or remote analysis of damaged leaf surface.","PeriodicalId":39162,"journal":{"name":"Acarina","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67879124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
