Initialising the power system, including induction motors, is the first step to kick off dynamic analysis. This step is usually embodied in power flow analysis. This paper presents a method of initialising the induction motor during power flow analysis. It inspects the induction motor steady state equivalent circuit and transient state equivalent circuit, and proposes a method which iterates fewer variables to initialise the induction motor. A two-bus power system containing an induction motor by Gauss-Seidel algorithm is examined to justify the proposal.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115164063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method assumes the robotic devices operational mechanism does not require data in the form of obstacle recognition, of the obstructions encountered. The exploration of relatively unknown environments including aerial, undersea, desert, icescapes or any dynamic environments in most instances require that obstacle avoidance be both automatic and autonomous and the matters of obstacle recognition (OR) may then be left to the controller, observer or to higher level systems where algorithms for visual or other recognition mechanisms may be achieved. A Guided Learning algorithm has been selected for evaluation to be incorporated within the robot system to allow high speed, memory-like reactions to its manoeuvres within chaotic, obstruction laden environments. The robotic device consists of a quad track quad motor crawler type vehicle, purpose built to serve the function of an autonomous environmental research vehicle and as such the paper deals with the portion of the system relating to purely OA matters. The device utilizes the received sensor data from a 24 segment passive array combined with a Guided-Learning system to control the general motion of the machine through remote and unknown locations.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129586302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most suitable converter topology is selected among popular bidirectional AC-DC converters. The theory of CSC operation is described and evaluated by means of simulation. The main advantages of our model over previously developed models are being more realistic and having low complexity. We show that the behaviour of the power grid from the turbines perspective can be represented with the cumulative percent value larger than 95% by only 4 out of 9 registered variables, namely 3 phase voltage and current, frequency! active and reactive power. We further show that using the separation of signal and noise spaces, the dynamics of the power grid can be captured by an optimal time lag shift of two samples. The model is finally validated on a new dataset resulting in modelling error residual less than 5%.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126764699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the feasibility for an isolated small power generation based on renewable energy source able to supplying different type of loads AC and DC with regulated voltage. The complete system is modelled in MatlabSimulink with three closed loops under fluctuation of the source (variable prime mover of the generators) and sudden application of loads. Both the DC voltage and AC voltage are controlled to the desired reference. The present results show the effectiveness and validity of the proposed power generation system.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114557116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
