If the costs of network is not sensitive to medium voltage nominal, then, obviously, the lower the voltage the better. The studied model showed that costs abruptly diminish with load density and/or sizes of fed zones growing (up to certain limit), cost and voltage losses are little sensitive to voltage nominal at uniform load density, cost only slightly growing with medium voltage. While at non-uniform load density (when thick load alternates with sparsely populated area) the network costs are critical to medium voltage due to voltage loss, the latter strongly diminishing with medium voltage growing, making it possible to increase medium voltage fed zone. AH the above is dominated by equipment prices and other economic indices.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117186674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the IEC and IEEE standards, light flicker computation is achieved on the raw data of the voltage waveforms. However, in real world systems, since raw data storage is expensive and difficult, only RMS values of the voltage are stored for later analysis. The work presented in this paper, proposes a new method to compute light flicker directly from RMS values of the voltage, which are computed based on the IEC power quality standard, IİC 61000-4-30. Beginning from a low-frequency-modulated signal, analytical terms of the flicker frequency components are derived in terms of the RMS voltage waveforms. Then those flicker components are used to compute the flicker sensation values, based on the previously shown fact that flicker sensation is the result of additive effects of the squared flicker frequency components. The comparison of the results with those of the digital realization of the IEC flickermeter shows that the developed method reveals satisfactory estimations of flicker sensation values, obtained from RMS of the voltage waveforms. It can be mentioned that this method provides an accurate, simple, and fast solution for the flicker computation, where raw data of the voltage waveforms are not available, but RMS values are present. The method can be easily adopted by smart-grid applications, where fast and accurate flicker computation is required from RMS voltage waveforms, especially for generating control signals for the FACTS devices.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121708835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The converter under study employs the current-fed full-bridge stage at the low-voltage side and the voltage-fed half-bridge stage at the high-voltage side. The current-fed side of the converter utilizes four-quadrant switches comprised of two MOSFETs each. The switching sequence proposed enables soft-switching operation of all switches in both directions of energy transfer for a wide range of dc voltage gain and load variations. Moreover, it features natural clamping and thus eliminates voltage overshoot at the turn-off of switches at the current-fed side. Full zero-current switching is achieved in the current-fed side, while full zero-voltage switching is accommodated in the voltage-fed side. Theoretical predictions were verified with simulations in PSIM 9.","PeriodicalId":389419,"journal":{"name":"2015 56th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON)","volume":"210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122633305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main purpose of this paper is to find optimal solutions for creation and control of DC/AC converter used for load supply in the autonomous power supply system. To make the power system more economically profitable the utilization of the heat of fuel cell cooling system should be accomplished.
