Two methods can be applied in SSD: the monocriteria optimisation in which one objective function is considered and the multicriteria optimisation in which two or more objective functions can be involved in the optimisation. This paper aims at the implementation of the multicriteria Genetic Algorithms (GAs). Two Pareto-based methods are applied to a single \"T\" junction: the Goldberg's Pareto ranking and the Non dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA II). The combinations of functions considered for multicriteria optimisation are: (i) the total delay minimisation and the queue length minimisation, (ii) the total delay minimisation and the total number of stops minimisation. Equipment malfunctions and faults are typical in industry but may lead to reduced production, shutdown of the plant or fatalities at the worst. Certain types of equipment faults induce exceptional behaviour that can be detected on the monitored variables and diagnosed before the severely damaging effects have occurred. Early intervention is often more cost-effective than allowing the equipment to fail. In this study, principal component analysis with different monitoring indices is used to monitor a desulphurization plant removing the sulphur dioxide from the flue gas of a CHP plant. Contributions of variables to the monitoring indices are checked during a special event. The approach is tested during normal process operation and during a period with a malfunctioning pump. The proposed scheme uses the gain saturation of a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) together with an optical delay line (ODL) to produce a second-order differentiator of Gaussian pulse, which is equivalent to a doublet pulse. The simulated results show that the generated IR-UWB doublet pulse has narrow spectral width which can comply with the Federal Communications Commission spectral requirements. Furthermore, we perform an investigation of a high speed IR-UWB over fiber system using on-off keying modulation (OOK), bi-phase modulation (BPM) and pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM) schemes. In that direction, emotional crowd simulation appears to be a good prescriptive tool to study such aspects. This work tries to personify virtual people and make them as believable as possible, to properly represent the human and consequently to understand the behavior of such crowd. For that, we propose an approach based on emotions to modeling crowd behavior and influence taking in consideration principally personality traits. This approach leans on behavioral patterns and emotional simulation. To achieve that, we examine the impact of the personality on emotions and the emergent behavior by specifying emotional cycle of each category of individuals. The case study refers to an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor drive. A field oriented speed control algorithm is considered, arranged in the rotor fixed d-q frame, with optimization of the torque-to-current ratio and decoupling of the feeding voltages. The real-time simulation platform and the actual drive share the same control hardware, based on the TMS320F2812 digital signal controller. At simulation stage the controlled hardware (motor, converter and transducers) is replaced by proper models running on the digital controller, while the control algorithm is implemented using the same procedures and real-time architecture that will be adopted in the final application. When one backtracks to consider the actual hardware, time and efforts needed for the ultimate controller set-up will be drastically reduced. In particular, we collected the first acoustic database of Kazakh telephone speech containing common words and phrases uttered by 169 native speakers to train an acoustic model. The database has more than 17 hours of speech and is balanced according to the gender, region and age groups. The training was performed using CMU Sphinx Toolkits and exploited the context-dependent tied-state continuous Hidden Markov Models with 8 Gaussian mixtures per state. The experiments show that the best WER of 4, 1% on test data is obtained with 2000 senones and the dimension of the feature vectors of 23. Later, this model was used in the system's implementation. While designing the system, we tried to focus on friendly graphical user interface and all-in-one functionality. The distribution of the temperature within a room is of special interest. One of the main tasks in this work was the successful realization of convection, since the Modelica modelling approach doesn't allow to actually model movement of air packages. Since the walls, roof and floor of the building also have to be part of the building model, this work starts with the description of a solid compartment where heat transfer takes place only via conduction. For the air compartment model, convection formulae for even surfaces and polynomial regression for temperature dependent parameters have been used to calculate the convectional heat transfer coefficient for each compartment surface. A comparison with a real experiment shows the validity of the developed model. This paper presents a crop planning model based on portfolio theory. The model takes into account several uncertainties as weather risks, market risks and environmental risks. Several environmental levels for the application of fertilizers/pesticides are defined. Monetary penalties for overcoming these levels, are considered. The sum of the penalties is called the environmental risk of the crop plan. The model has several constraints: budget constraints, expected return constraints and crop demand constraints. The objective map is the environmental risk. The decision variables are represented by the crop plan that is: a binary matrix that describes the crop allocations to plots and the quantities of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that are applied to crops. The goal of the model is to find the crop plans that minimize the objective map. A numerical example is considered.
