To assess this, a network of skills from the job profiles of 14,790 online freelancers is constructed. Based on this skill network, relationships between 3,480 different skills are revealed and marginal effects of learning a new skill can be calculated via workers’ wages. The results indicate that learning in-demand skills, such as popular programming languages, is beneficial in general, and that diverse skill sets tend to be profitable, too. However, the economic benefit of a new skill is individual, as it complements the existing skill bundle of each worker. As technological and social transformation is reshuffling jobs’ task profiles at a fast pace, the findings of this study help to clarify skill sets required for designing individual re-skilling pathways. This can help to increase employability and reduce labour market shortages.","PeriodicalId":384356,"journal":{"name":"ERN: On-the-Job Training (Topic)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131903404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Este marco se basa en la Clasificacion Internacional Normalizada de Educacion desarrollada por la Unesco y emplea como principal fuente de informacion la normatividad que regula la educacion media en cada pais. La comparacion es de tipo descriptivo e identifica similitudes y diferencias entre los paises. Dentro de las similitudes, se encuentra que la educacion media no es obligatoria y esta organizada en academica y tecnica. Entre las diferencias, se estaca que Colombia es el unico pais con una media cuya duracion teorica es menor a los tres anos que muestra la tendencia internacional y los estudiantes cursan de manera simultanea asignaturas de la media y de niveles posteriores (formacion para el trabajo y educacion superior). A diferencia de los paises observados, Colombia no cuenta con planes de estudios nacionales especificos segun el caracter academico y tecnico, compuestos por el numero y nombre de las asignaturas, la intensidad horaria, la secuencialidad y el material educativo. Colombia tampoco tiene una reglamentacion especifica sobre la formacion y la experiencia que deben tener los docentes para ensenar en la educacion media segun su caracter academico y tecnico. A partir de los resultados de esta comparacion, se formulan una serie de recomendaciones dirigidas a: (1) considerar la duracion teorica de la educacion media, (2) definir un plan de estudios de orden nacional segun el caracter academico y tecnico, (3) analizar la pertinencia de que los estudiantes cursen al mismo tiempo asignaturas de la educacion media y de niveles educativos superiores y (4) establecer una reglamentacion especifica para los docentes que trabajan en la educacion media segun su caracter academico y tecnico. Se espera que dichas recomendaciones ayuden a fundamentar propuestas de transformacion para la educacion media en Colombia. \u0000English Abstract: This paper provides an international framework aimed at comparing the level of upper secondary education in Colombia with that in Finland, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, and South Korea, countries with top-performing national education systems in enrollment, equity, and quality indicators. Using policy documents and national reports as a main source of information, the framework is based on the International Standardized Classification of Education developed by Unesco. The comparison is approached from a descriptive perspective and identifies differences and similarities between Colombia and the five selected countries. Among the similarities, we found that upper secondary education is not compulsory and can be academic- or technical-oriented. Regarding the differences, the theoretical duration of upper ","PeriodicalId":384356,"journal":{"name":"ERN: On-the-Job Training (Topic)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131654187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, smaller firms may face greater challenges in developing human capital. We explore differences between smaller and larger firms in offering skills training and in hiring workers with more formal education. Drawing on a dataset of enterprises in five Asian countries, we find major size-based differences in education and training. While smaller firms train less, they also are less inclined to view an inadequately skilled workforce as a major constraint on their operations. It may be that smaller firms are content to occupy niches in a low-skills equilibrium. Our empirical results do offer the possibility, however, that a size-induced market failure in skills training may coexist with a lower regard for skills. The policy implications are not only that governments can reduce the costs for firms to train, but also that micro and small firms need to be sensitized to the benefits of skills upgrading.","PeriodicalId":384356,"journal":{"name":"ERN: On-the-Job Training (Topic)","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132528733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Features of corporate entrepreneurship were regarded as four dimensions of creativity and innovation, risk-taking, perseverance, and competitive spirit. Also, we examined the effect of entrepreneurship training on corporate entrepreneurship. To collect the data, we developed a questionnaire. Forty four production managers of IRIB volunteered to fill in the questionnaire. However, 4 persons were excluded from the group due to incomplete completion of the questionnaire and treatment which made the participants 40 people. The participants were randomly assigned to two participating groups. To test the hypotheses, variance and multi-covariance tests were applied. The analysis of the data obtained showed that the entrepreneurship training has significant effect on creativity, risk-taking, perseverance, and competitive spirit.","PeriodicalId":384356,"journal":{"name":"ERN: On-the-Job Training (Topic)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127079120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
