The Z-Source Inverter consists of traditional switching network along with a unique LC passive symmetrical network between the dc front end and the switching network. The output AC Voltage can be controlled by either controlling the shoot through duty cycle (Dsh) or Modulation Index (M). A feedback control mechanism is proposed for controlling both shoot through duty cycle and the modulation index. Indirect Field Oriented Control strategy is implemented with an added capability of Synchronous Current Injection. It avoids the issues of controller saturation at high speeds as commonly seen in the traditional Hysteresis Band Controller based drives. Feedforward CEMF (Counter Electro-Magnetic Force) compensation is also introduced in the feedback loops of the controller to enhance the overall loop response. Simulation results are used to validate the proposed solution for high speeds.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126179894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A technique (i.e., DC-DC Step-Down converter) has chosen for designing the low-power circuit with low voltage energy. The proposed method consumes very little power, and is especially suitable for the environments, where ambient harvested power is very low. The energy harvesting circuit consists of diode bridge ac-dc rectifier and an energy storage device with an output capacitor, an electrochemical battery, and a switch-mode dc-dc converter that control the energy flow into the battery. This paper will study results these important issues regarding the efficiencies of the energy harvesting circuits considering the storage device low voltage. For the piezoelectric element model with ac-dc rectifier, storage device and load verified by PSPICE simulation. The results show piezoelectric element model with ac-dc rectifier of 180mV, and load higher efficiency of 85%. Finally, dc-dc (Step-down) converter generates 20mV.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"18 1B 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123664801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an improved model of Ant Colony System is developed in optimizing DNA sequences design. The proposed model suggests that each artificial ant represents a possible solution of the DNA sequences design problem. This differs from the previous Ant Colony System approached where a number of artificial ants are required to represent a possible solution. In the implementation, four objective measures and two constraint measures are employed to obtain a good set of DNA sequences. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated by comparing the result with existing Ant Colony System model and other published sequence design method. The experimental result shows that the proposed Ant Colony System model outperformed the existing Ant Colony System model.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121748638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method relies on faults and variation of voltage in power transmission system. Voltage and frequency will vary when fault occurs in the power system. Fault study can be simplified by using generator aggregation. Inertia aggregation techniques which are based on processing assessment of the fault location in transmission lines are proposed in this paper. The generator aggregation is extracted from the model stability of voltages at the single and multi machines of the power system network. The technique identifies the fault by using the information contained in a simple power system. Three generators and four buses are modeled in this study. This technique is implemented in MATLAB and the performance is tested based on the variation in the voltage profile. Results show that the voltage profile gets stable faster in the aggregated mode, compared to the original condition of the system.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122260582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a vehicle comfort level classification system has been proposed to detect the comfort level in cars using artificial neural network. The database of sound samples from 30 local cars is used. In the stationary condition, the sound pressure level is measured at 1300 RPM, 2000 RPM and 3000 RPM. In the moving condition, the sound is recorded while the car is moving at 30 km/h up to 110 km/h. Subjective test is conducted to find the jury's evaluation for the specific sound sample. The correlation between the subjective and the objective evaluation is also tested. The relationship between the subjective results and the sound metrics is modelled using Probabilistic neural network. It is found from the research that the Spectral Power feature gives the best classification accuracy for both stationary and moving condition model, 86.54% and 82.54% respectively.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132239107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hybridization of DNA can be controlled by properly designing DNA sequences. In this study, sequences are designed such that each sequence uniquely hybridizes to its complementary sequence, but not to any other sequences. Vector evaluated particle swarm optimization (VEPSO) is employed to solve the DNA sequence design problem by minimizing four objective functions, namely similarity, Hmeasure, continuity, and hairpin, subjected to two constraints: melting temperature and GCcontent. Non-dominated solutions can be produced, which are better than other research works where only a set of sequences is generated.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132348437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The projection is come from light that is produced by LED infrared while photodiode is act as receiver. Any appearance of object between transmitter and receiver will change the voltage that is produce by receiver. The bigger the object, the more voltage losses will be sensed. The role of rate adaptation is inevitable in wireless networks since it affects the overall performance significantly. The existing rate adaptation algorithms perform poorly in congested networks since they tend to decrease the transmission rate in high congestion scenario which results in lower throughput and overall performance degradation. A lack of proper identification of congestion measurement technique is one of the main causes of this problem. In this paper, we propose a rate adaptation scheme that employs a lightweight metric known as Channel Busy Time that can differentiate high congestion from low congestion and react according to channel quality variations. We also limit the use of RTS/CTS mechanism in high congestion scenario and show that our proposed scheme, explicitly designed to handle congestion in wireless networks, performs better than the existing rate adaptive algorithms.","PeriodicalId":383828,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132711168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
