The proposed FDE scheme improves the system performance by taking into consideration the complete second order statistics of the received signal in frequency domain. Our analytical model is in line with 3GPP uplink SC-FDMA transmission with Multi-user (MU) Spatial Division Multiplexing (SDM). The results show that the proposed MU-MIMO with the new FDE significantly improves the bit error rate (BER) performance in comparison with the conventional scheme for the system under consideration.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133536072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we address the subcarrier and power allocation problem for full-duplex system. The problem is coupled between uplink and downlink channels due to the self-interference and inter-user interference. As the problem is non-convex, a suboptimal algorithm is proposed based on the Frank-Wolfe approach. To this end, a subcarrier and power allocation is first performed for the downlink channel, and then the uplink resource allocation is represented as a D.C. (difference of two convex functions) problem. An approximation is used to convert the D.C. problem into two convex sub-problems, which are solved iteratively to produce a lower bound approximation for the non-convex objective. Simulation results show that the algorithm achieves fast convergence regardless of different initialization points, and can significantly improve the full-duplex performance comparing to the equal resource allocation approach. Furthermore, the full-duplex system with the proposed algorithm can achieve significant gains in spectral efficiency, that reach up to 48%, comparing to half-duplex system.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126761487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In uplink NOMA, more than one user can use the same subcarrier, which increases the system throughput and fairness. Due to the non-orthogonality among the users, joint processing is required at the receiver to retrieve the users' signals. In this paper, we propose solutions to optimize the receiver and the radio resource allocation of uplink NOMA. First, we propose an iterative multiuser detection and decoding (MUDD) to improve the performance of the multiuser detector by utilizing the information derived by the channel decoder. In addition, a novel subcarrier and power allocation algorithm is proposed for NOMA scheme that maximizes the users' weighted sum-rate. The link-level performance evaluation has shown that the proposed iterative MUDD approach brings about 4.5 dB and 9.8 dB performance improvements at block error rate equal to 10-2 comparing to conventional multiuser detection, for QPSK and 16QAM modulations, respectively. Furthermore, the system-level results show that the proposed resource allocation algorithm achieves the system spectral efficiency upper-bound, making NOMA significantly outperforms OFDMA in terms of spectral efficiency and fairness.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114345031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A simplified error probability approximation method based on the union bound (UB) of the Maximum-Likelihood detector (MLD) is proposed to predict the bit error rate (BER) of the K-best algorithm. In specific, the simplified approach only uses the minimum Euclidean distance (MED) events which is suitable for the adaptive modulation scheme with much reduced computational complexity. In order to improve the accuracy of prediction, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gaps between the UB with MED events and the full UB are estimated. Finally, simulation results have clearly shown the adaptive K-best algorithm applying the simplified approximation method has much reduced computational complexities while maintaining a promising BER performance.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124792168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reason of this growth is related to the increasing popularity of linear services such as mobile TV, live and sports events, which may lead to the delivery of the same contents to a large audience. Recent studies have shown that network cooperation is a promising candidate to deal with such an issue. This paper investigates, from a planning perspective, the optimization of a hybrid unicast/broadcast network for linear services. We introduce an analytical approach with the aim of stating an optimization problem on the hybrid network configuration, namely in terms of the sharing between the unicast and broadcast modes to deliver a particular service. We show by simulation the existence of an optimal operation point which leads to the maximization of the overall throughput of the hybrid network under the constraint of a minimum service success rate.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123418729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the expression of the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) of the output signal is analytically derived. We mainly focus on the effect of clipping in both cases with and without the use of the predistortion stage. We provide analytical expressions of the EVM in the form of a series expansion that depends on the clipping threshold, the transition factors of the power amplifier, the predistortion characteristics and the PAPR of the input signal. We show through simulations that the proposed expressions present very good accuracy, even when limiting the series expansion to an order of 4. Finally, a simple scenario is proposed to demonstrate the benefit of our EVM expressions in controlling the average transmitted power with the aim to guarantee a high quality of service.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127002649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It allows secondary users to access unused licensed frequency bands. In order to detect the presence of primary users, one of the fundamental tasks that a CR equipment has to perform is spectrum sensing process. In this paper, a hybrid spectrum sensing architecture is proposed, which consists of the concatenation of a sequential energy detection (SED) and a cyclostationary-based (CB) detector. The former sensing method is performed to reduce spectrum sensing time, when the SNR is very high (resp. very low), while the latter sensing detector is performed whenever the SED does not guarantee the required quality of detection (i.e. moderate SNR regime). The efficiency of the proposed solution has been verified experimentally using USRP N210 boards under GNURadio environment.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131479868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in most cases, SAIC technology loses its efficiency if the residual frequency offset (FO) of the CCI is above a very small fraction of the baud rate. It may be the case for airborne communications, due to high differential Doppler shifts. It may also be the case if we try to use SAIC or multiple antenna interference cancellation (MAIC) receivers to mitigate intrinsic inter-carrier interference (ICI) of filter-bank multicarrier waveforms coupled with OQAM constellations (FBMC-OQAM), which are candidate for 5G networks, and for which the ICI FO is equal to 50% of the (real) baud rate. In this context, the purpose of this paper is twofold. The first one is to extend, for an arbitrary propagation channel and from a maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE)-based approach, the SAIC/MAIC concept to R or QR signals with differential FO using WL frequency-shifted (FRESH) filtering. The second one is to analyse both analytically and by simulations the impact of the residual CCI FO on the performance of the proposed SAIC/MAIC receiver.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127064685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using stochastic geometry modeling of multi-tier cells, the coverage probability of the practical HWCN is firstly derived characterising the impacts of cell density allocation, power allocation at cells, building infrastructures and transmission environment. It is interestingly observed that the increase of cell densities may not result in a higher coverage but causes a higher total power consumption. The coverage optimisation problem is therefore formulated aiming at maximising the coverage probability subject to the constraints on the power available in the HWCN. Specifically, an heuristic cell density allocation algorithm is proposed for the cell allocation at multiple tiers within various propagation models. The proposed scheme is shown to not only achieve a higher coverage region of up to 25% but also save 20% of power consumption when compared to the equal resource allocation mechanism.","PeriodicalId":383105,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128950120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
