The all-IP based future mobile and wireless network model is expected to be the most dominant architecture for QoS provisioning in next-generation wireless networks, mainly due to its scalability and capability of inter-working heterogeneous wireless access networks. Recently, the rapid growth of various wireless infrastructures and the interesting mixture of wireless traffic generated by large number of devices (PDAs, Laptops and cell-phones) have diverted the attention of wireless research community towards understanding the nature of traffic carried by different wireless architectures. A series of recent studies on GPRS aggregated traffic, WAP and Web traffic has proven that wireless traffic exhibits strong long-range dependency. However, much of the current understanding of wireless traffic modeling builds on classical Poisson distributed traffic, which can yield misleading results and hence poor wireless network planning. In this paper, we contribute to the accurate modeling of wireless IP traffic by considering two different types of traffic that exhibit long-range dependency and self-similarity. We consider a model of two queues based on G/M/l queueing system and analyze it on the basis of 1-limited polling service and find exact bounds on packet delay.","PeriodicalId":382941,"journal":{"name":"2006 2nd IEEE/IFIP International Conference in Central Asia on Internet","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130044505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We describe three multi-period planning approaches, namely end- of-life planning, and incremental planning with and without forecast. Using mathematical optimization based on a cost model for network elements, we apply these approaches to realistic Case Studies. We consider multi-period aspects of uncertainty, capital return, reduction of component cost over time, and new technologies.","PeriodicalId":382941,"journal":{"name":"2006 2nd IEEE/IFIP International Conference in Central Asia on Internet","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124982827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The protocol relies on a centralized system for providing channel access to the mobile users and then access to Internet or to the network. The protocol works by providing the users a dedicated channel based on the First in First Get (FIFG) scheme. The geographical area is divided based on the number of basestations used and all the channels are repeated in every basestation, providing reusability of the channels. This paper describes the protocol's concept and working, network architecture, and also discusses protocol's application areas.","PeriodicalId":382941,"journal":{"name":"2006 2nd IEEE/IFIP International Conference in Central Asia on Internet","volume":"181 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129628219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But all power completely developed of photonisation reaches far for these limits. While electrons can transfer the information consistently, one after another, with photons there is no virtual limit on number of information packages which can be simultaneously transferred. For example, it has been estimated, that the photon Internet can transfer data with a speed 160Gb/s, that in thousand times is faster, than typical modern high-speed connections. Other opportunity is an optical computer, which can solve for seconds a problem which classical computers would process months, and even years.","PeriodicalId":382941,"journal":{"name":"2006 2nd IEEE/IFIP International Conference in Central Asia on Internet","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114410394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
