If it is not designed properly, i.e., without considering region specific weather condition, vapourisation will occur at undesirable rate while cryogenic fluid flows through the pipeline. In this work, optimum design for a cryogenic piping system has been explored. To identify existing design limitations as well as customer priorities, quality function deployment has been employed. Data have been collected from local customers and experts through questionnaire-based survey. Double-concentric-pipes type construction with inner pipe diameter of 21.34-33.40 mm and outer pipe diameter of 88.90-193.68 mm has been considered. Four potential insulating mediums; multilayer insulation, vacuum, polyethylene foam, and perlite have been investigated. Multilayer insulation thickness and vacuum pressure have been varied from 6-30 mm and 10−5−5 mbar respectively. Improvement tools, like total quality management, have become prevalent terms in the discussion around quality issues. The intention of this paper is to study total quality management (TQM) implementation in Leather Industry Development Institute (LIDI), and more specifically, to see if the integration of TQM with other tools and techniques could significantly improve the service level of the institute and the satisfaction of the customers. The paper specifically highlighted that the role of senior managers in TQM implementation were minimal due lack of TQM awareness and system integration. To improve this, a phase-based TQM framework has been developed and interpreted comprehensively including implementation strategies, possible improvements and integrations. The more applicable and general modelling is possible only through including single ranked competitors as well as the frequency of different ranks or positions. In this article, we propose a mathematical model which deals competition with ranks or positions with various frequency distributions applicable to quality inspection systems. The current article includes the equilibrium positions and failure gates in competitions for a single factor ranking system and discusses the multi-level competition which is more relevant in practical environment. The outcome probability of best, least and intermediate positions are analysed for discrete frequency model with finite ranks and also for continues frequency model with infinite ranks. The article likewise facilitates the feasibility of the model for implementation as a probabilistic inspection technique. A structural equation model (SEM) has been developed in order to determine the significance of each aspect of the WebQual model and its significance weight. This study has evaluated the satisfaction of users with the quality of website content, transaction quality and security, usability and service interaction quality, and provided the solutions to improve these factors in form of the QFD method. Results showed the transaction quality and security has the highest priority for improvement. Specifically, the paper considers the case of the worldwide COVID-19 lockdown that afflicted business, industry, academia, and government. As a result of being barred from practicing their respective functions, workers are prevented from the normal positive effects of being on a learning curve. Instead of performance improvement due to learning curves, there is performance degradation due to the lockdown. Although not enough live data is available yet for a direct modelling, the paper presents a postulated analytical framework that researchers can use later on for empirical modelling of the adverse impacts of the lockdown on learning curves. A decline in learning can translate to a decline in quality of work and quality of products. The proposed model considers that multiple assignable causes can occur during the production process. Then, a hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm is developed to solve the model. The proposed algorithm consists of an improved version of the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) and the data envelopment analysis (DEA) which is called the IM-NSGA-II-DEA. For the proposed algorithm, new crossover and mutation operators based on the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) have been designed. After obtaining the non-dominated solutions, the DEA is employed to find the efficient ones. The performance of the IM-NSGA-II is evaluated in comparison with the classical NSGA-II and NRGA.
