The complexity makes it practically impossible to make the hardware and software error-free without the special effort invested in the design process. Recently, a design methodology with the objective to avoid unacceptable risk of physical injury or of damage to the health of people, named Functional Safety, has been gaining importance. The paper presents the basics of the design process to be applied for the development of electrical / electronic / programmable electronic devices to be applied in safety critical applications.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122653930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A two-step experimental control design is carried out with the aim of the fastest possible monotonic setpoint step responses and of a well damped control signal courses. The first stage of an optimal and robust tuning procedure focuses on collecting and processing data about the process by a sequence of step responses. It is used for determining appropriate parameters of the stabilizing P control extended by a fixed offset. This may be extended by a second stage, when the proposed controller is used to generate new data sets for an optimal robust disturbance observer tuning. All procedures are illustrated by an electrical fan speed control example carried out in a Matlab/Simulink environment.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122867489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is caused by the necessary voltage step across them and the necessity to charge the parasitic capacitors of the devices. To reduce this swinging, another strongly coupled winding is applied to the magnetic device of the converter. By shunting this winding, when the active switch and the passive switch of the converter are turned off, the ringing is significantly reduced. The method is explained and applied to the buck, the boost and the combined forward-flyback converters. Simulation and experimental results for a small boost converter are shown.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129788971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It presents the application of dynamical feedforward control for a three-tank system that can run locally or via the Internet as a virtual laboratory. The controller design uses exact linearization techniques and takes into account input saturations. The developed controller is able to cope with disturbances thank to a nonlinear disturbance observer included into the control circuit. Noisy signals can be suppressed by the choice of filters. The main advantage of a newly developed dynamical feedforward controller is the ability to work with time delays. The designed application now represents a complex tool to perform different control strategies on different hydraulic systems. Its interface offers many configuration parameters to be set for the system, controller, observer and filters so sensitivity to various control scenarios can be examined. The application can serve as a learning supporting tool in teaching courses of nonlinear control systems.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129187440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dominant loop dynamics represented by an inertial mass is approximated by a first-order model. The torque generator dynamics, together with the processing and communication delays are approximated by a dead-time. Two compared approaches focus on reconstruction and compensation of external load disturbances by integral low-pass filters implemented by discrete-time finite-impulse-response (FIR) filters. One of them uses as a disturbance-observer input the generated control signal. The second one has the measured output position at its input. This is considered to be measured by an incremental encoder. Impact of the filter parameters and of the sampling period on the resulting control performance are being explored and compared with a DO using binomial filter and the traditional IP control without an additional filtration.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114312664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a very known and well-researched topic in the field of robotic manipulation where the robot is expected to grasp non-oriented objects from a bin and placed them to locations within the following process flow. Although we present here a functional case study of a bin-picking system based on a modified revolving vision system, it is still a challenge to design such processes to be implemented in industry environment. The main problem is to determine the cycle time and a reliability of a potential implementation. The approach to this problem we have used so far deals with a feasibility testing procedures with real objects in a robotic lab. The apparent drawback is the fact that this procedure is quite time-consuming. Aware of this limitation, we also pay attention to some efforts focused on simulation of even bin-picking systems in a virtual environment: some prospective ideas to cover this issue of a virtual simulation and optimization of robotic processes are included in this paper.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128045746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The direct torque control and field oriented control are nowadays two most applied vector control methods. The main advantage of the method for direct torque control of induction machines is its simplicity and therefore its robustness. Namely, control variables (the electromagnetic torque and stator flux vector) are estimated from stator quantities and the only induction machine parameter required is the stator resistance. The main disadvantages of the method are high torque ripple, variable switching frequency, difficulty to control the control variables in the very low speed range and lack of direct current control. Modified methods for direct torque control of induction machines are developed in order to either repeal or diminish an influence of the aforementioned disadvantages. In the paper, the conventional method for direct torque control is described and an overview of the modified methods categorized in few groups with some common features is presented.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128815382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

About one third of these people are people with mobility or movements impairments. For most of these people, high-precision hand prostheses such as bebeonics or touchebonus are very expensive. Prosthetics controlled from the nervous system directly exist only as prototypes. All of the above devices provide only visual feedback to the user. To reduce the load on the user's vision, it was decided to create a system with a tactile vibration feedback. To test such a system, a test bench with vibration actuators was created. The main condition for the work of the vibration actuator is the possibility of adjusting the frequency and intensity of vibration in a wide range. The work described in this paper is a comparison between the vibration actuators: made at the factory and printed on a 3d printer. Vibration actuators were compared according to static and dynamic parameters. Static parameters: ratio of current and force, ratio of power consumption and power. Dynamic parameters: amplitude-frequency characteristic of acceleration. As a result, a vibro-actuator printed on a 3d printer has lower static parameters than the one factory produced, but works on a wider frequency range. As a result, the actuator printed on the 3d printer is a more acceptable solution for prosthetic bench application.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124819525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most researches only focus on low-power applications beneath 1 kW. This paper investigates the performance of Flux-Switching-PM-Machines in a speed range between 1000 min−1 and 3000 min−1 at a 300 W and at a 45 kW level with different percentages of magnet masses per motor active mass. It reveals that C- and E-Core machines only are advantageous, if these machines use a magnet mass similar to conventional Flux-Switching-Machines with competitive magnet masses. At a 45 kW power level equipped with a magnet mass which is competitive to a highly-utilized PMSM the C- and E-Core topology is not appropriate. In addition, the inherent problems of the C- and E-Core concepts such as lower overload capability, poor power factor and high unbalanced magnetic force in the air-gap are big disadvantages of these machines.","PeriodicalId":380544,"journal":{"name":"2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128260277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
