In this way, the computational cost can be reduced. It is also shown that with a VLSI implementation of the processing algorithm, the proposed procedure allows a considerable reduction of hardware complexity.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. They begin with a justification of the uses of digital simulation and highlight its advantages. They then consider the steps in planning simulation experiments. Aspects of the modeling of transmission systems are then examined. A simple experiment is considered which can be used for analyzing digital radiocommunication systems. It is noted that the main advantage of the proposed approach is its versatility in invention and innovation in transmission situations.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The models are simple networks, easily implemented in currently available microwave CAD (computer-aided design) programs. Their element values are obtained from the results of vector network analyzer measurements on microstrip structures. Therefore, the models include intrinsically mounting discontinuities. The transmission line parameters values are obtained from the first series self-resonance measured for a ground connection, and the RLC parameter values are obtained from parallel resonances measured with series connection.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The method takes into account the finite metallization thickness and the presence of grooves for holding the substrate into the housing. An experimental method that allows the characterization of the structures in terms of dominant and higher order modes by a single broadband transmission measurement is considered. Experiments performed on an experimental transmission line consisting of a coplanar waveguide inserted into a nonsymmetrical housing are discussed. This structure offers some advantages over finlines and suspended striplines. Experiments have been performed in the 0.5-15.0 GHz range and are in excellent agreement with theoretical predictions.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. SHADE is a logic synthesis system for semicustom integrated circuits which accepts specifications at the register transfer level. The authors first set the context by looking at the general problems of specification and architecture synthesis. This is followed by a study of the types of specification language possible. Conclusions are drawn about the requirements of the language discussed. An outline for language design is then given, illustrated with examples, and the structure of a synthesis system based on this language is presented.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Both algorithms are based on the application of a selection operator to detect the nonzero values of a solution provided by a standard approach. In the first algorithm, a gradient-type iterative reduction of the error is used. The second algorithm minimizes the signal to be obtained. Their performances using l/sub 1/ and l/sub 2/ norms in the minimization are compared in terms of resolution, robustness, speed of convergence, and computational load.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The block diagram for all the three antenna systems is shown, assuming that a single antenna is utilized for both transmission and reception. Through a set of diplexers, both receiver and transmitter modules use the shared feeds. The use of a single antenna for both transmission and reception has been shown to be attractive in terms of size and weight reduction. These features conflict, however, with the thermal and interconnecting issues that can arise in practical systems. The transmitter topology and complexity seem important points in the feasibility of the integration with the receiver. In particular, the number and allocation of the power amplifiers are quite critical.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. It is shown how these developments can help to accomplish the fundamental aims and to make such a classical field as attractive as possible. Particular attention is given to the features of computer-aided design engineering, simulation, and testing insofar as they are of interest in connection with engineering education in this area. It is concluded that computer-aided techniques are extremely important in such a field in two senses: (1) due to their introduction, a broader and more general discussion of the phenomena is feasible, and many restrictions which were found in the classical system can be overcome; and (2) using the same techniques as in other fields of engineering, electrical machine and drive design becomes a very well elaborated example of design as such, rather than only a goal in itself.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":380214,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. A simple efficient maximum power-point tracking technique is developed. The connection strategy depends on a very simple criterion which is the measurement of the solar radiation level. The control strategy is based on appropriate logic that compares the signs of dP/dt and dV/dt.
