Pulsed laser deposition method was used to cover a S 235 carbon steel sample with a thin nickel film, using laser ablation and thus obtaining a protective layer, offering increased corrosion resistance. S 235 carbon steel samples were covered on a single face with thin films. The material used for laser ablation is nickel. The samples were immersed for 126 days in static seawater at ambient temperature and were individually weighted on the analytic balance at different time intervals, in order to determine the corrosion process speed. The study was performed by employing the gravimetric method. Through the corrosion research process using the gravimetric method, the parallelepiped samples covered with Ni using pulsed laser deposition were immersed 126 days in static sea water at environment temperature. The corroded surfaces, after being submerged in seawater, were investigated using optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Atomic force microscopy investigations performed on long-term corrosion-tested samples highlight areas with compact and homogeneous surfaces that did not allow the corrosive agent to interact with the base material, a fact confirmed by optical metallographic analysis. Wave mode images show discontinuities of surface-deposited incipient corrosion points that are possible pathways of the corrosive agent to the sample material. The analysis made on one side thin film covered sample, after a long term corrosion test, using atomic force microscopy investigation and gravimetric test, shows the rate of corrosion, the discontinuities of the surface and the corrosion pitting in the material. Evaluating the method of thin film deposition layer leads to the obtainment of high reliability and low cost material parts using this method. The corrosion rate is established, remains constant and protection of the material base is achieved.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49663419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These mobile coupling must undertake the shafts misalignments that could appear, usually in the transversal plane and in the longitudinal plane. The friction which appears in coupling’s joints between the involved parts has an important influence on their dynamic behaviour, wear and lifetime. A solution to reduce the friction inside the mobile coupling is to place bearings in joints. The paper presents some general aspects on mobile tripod couplings and following this, using the inside relative movement in joints between parts and corresponding adequate bearing, the friction coefficient is studied. There are considered two cases for the studied radial ball bearings: a sealed one and a non-sealed one. The measurements are accomplished by using a tribometer for different radial loadings and rotational speeds of the inner ring of the bearings. In the final part of the paper, the results present the exploitation conditions of the bearings which assure small frictional loses. According to the obtained results, in order to gain small frictional loses, the mobile tripod coupling with external contacts are suitable to be used in the case of high loads, with small influences on the frictional behaviour of the rotational speeds.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49623556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cutting parameters and insert material are the important conditions that affect temperature in turning. In this study, tests were carried out on X 200 Cr 12 steel during turning process. In ordre to measure the cutting temperature of the tool, the thermocouple method was used. The results illustrate that cutting temperature increases with depth of cut, feed rate, and the rotational speed. Due to the high conductivity of the insert coating, the tool cutting temperature reaches much higher levels than in the case of uncoated inserts. The conductivity of the insert affects the cutting temperature. The most influential parameters on the cutting temperature are feed rate and depth of cut.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47927565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CAD performances of professional software, by modelling and simulation, contribute to a better evaluation of the research results and to the integration of design into manufacturing phases. These aim to reduce the time from product concept up to it is launched in the market. In the case of robots and complex mechatronic systems, special attention is focused on the mechanical components concept and design so that they enable required motions – trajectory, speed, acceleration. Results of kinematic analysis for two new robotic systems obtained by modelling and simulation using SolidWorks software are presented. There were considered specific phases that are: fully study of requirements; set constraints; concept; 3D CAD model; kinematic analysis; simulation; interpretation of results and conclusion. During the study, samples were made of ceramic composite, of filter type, cylindrical with a diameter of 16 mm and heights between 14-16 mm. To achieve the porous structure, the matrix was reinforced with ceramic powders of Al2O3 and SiC, and to control the pore size, metal powders of Al and Fe were used in percentages between 3-12%. The compaction of the samples thus obtain was performed by mechanical pressing in a metal mould on a universal testing machine with a force F=20 kN. In order to test them in compression, the samples were sintered in an oven at T=1100°C in a heat treatment oven after a predetermined treatment cycle. For each test, the diagram was registered with the help of the software from the machine’s equipment, respectively the behaviour of the different sintered ceramic composite samples. The results thus obtained were analysed in correlation with the composition of the tested samples. In conclusion, dependencies were established between the type, nature and ratio of the constituent samples of ceramic composite and their behaviour at the request of compression.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43955215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These oils are difficult and expensive to dispose of, have low biodegradability and are contamination risks. Recent efforts have been focused on reducing the environmental impact of petroleum based lubricants through the use of vegetable oils since they are biodegradable and have good lubricity. A drawback of vegetable oils is their poor thermal stability and oxidation, which causes them to decrease their properties at higher loads. Nanoparticle (NP) additives have been explored for improving the tribological performance of vegetable. This literature review seeks to compare and analise the impact of the different NP types, concentrations and vegetable oil type on the coefficient of friction. The vegetable oils that have shown to provide the best tribological behaviour were coconut oil, sunflower oil, palm sesame oil, canola oil, among others. The NP with the best performance were SiO2 and CuO and the concentration with the highest improvement was between 0.01-3.0 wt.%. The results of this study provide an insight on the areas of opportunity for developing new lubricant formulations with vegetable oils and NP additives for industrial applications.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44397173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proper raw material change must be based on the reliable raw material characterization tests. Regardless to the fact that commonly used (Bigot, Muller-Biehl, Ratzenberger, Piltz, Hermansons, etc.) drying sensitivity criterions allow the comparison of different raw materials they are not related with the mineral composition and mechanical nature of clays. Besides these are time-demanding tests. The X-ray characterization of raw material is reliable only when orientated samples are prepared. In other cases, it is necessary to have additional characterization test such as thermo-differential (DTA) and thermo-gravimetric (TG) analysis in order to confirm the presence or absence of individual clay minerals. The quantity of the interlayer water content present in clays is in direct correlation with the mineralogical composition and the clay type. This effect can be easily qualified on the DTA/TG curves. This was a trigger for establishing the novel rapid drying sensitivity criteria. The analysis of different raw materials has confirmed that the moisture loss registered on TG curves at 2000C can be used as novel drying sensitivity criterion. This value is respectively for insensitive raw materials less than 2.0 while for highly sensitive one is larger than 2.80. The proposed method is very simple, rapid and reliable for the application in brick and tile industry. The second objective of this paper was to compare the results of the proposed method with the widely used Bigoth, Ratzenberg and Piltz tests. A good correlation was found.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41674055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The validation of the system is achieved by using a calculation program based on finite element theory (CFD). This is a new ship with a series of innovations regarding the construction of the cargo tanks, which was built in 2018. For sure, this engine is a dual fuel type, powered by marine fuel and natural gas. A general description of the naval lubrication system is made, then a specific calculation is performed for the essentials, such as: the main oil pump, the oil storage tanks, the oil separator, the oil filters and the oil cooler. Next, the focus is on the oil cooler, which is considered an essential part of the installation. In the first part of chapter five it is described in detail, from a constructive and functional point of view, then, using the Ansys program, the corresponding calculation is performed to verify it. A model is made according to the geometrical characteristics, then a series of specific simulations are performed. The main purpose of the simulation is to determine de operational behaviour of this heat exchanger from a temperature point of view and to establish its optimal operational status. This cand be done by establishing a proper simulation model and by conducting a precise simulation stage focused and key parameters. As noted in the final part of this study the temperature contour in the heat exchanger for cooled oil flows form minimum 291 0K to maximum 363 0K, this being its optima operational limit.","PeriodicalId":38009,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Modern Manufacturing Technologies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46771504","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
