Different processing methods of Polymethylmethacrylate have varying influences on the mechanical properties of denture base material. Aim: The aim of our in-vitro study was to comparatively evaluate the flexural and impact strength values between CAD-CAM, Compression-molded and Injection- molded Polymethylmethacrylate specimens. Materials and methods: A total of 66 acrylic rectangular specimens of ISO Standardization (64 x10 x3.3mm) were fabricated. This study was conducted between three groups: Group I (n=22)-CAD-CAM Milled specimens (Ruthinium, India), Group II (n=22)- Compression-molded specimens (Dental Products of India, Chennai), Group III (n=22)- Injection-molded specimens (SR- Ivocap High Impact, Ivoclar Vivadent). Flexural strength was evaluated using four-point bend test and Impact strength by IZOD Impact tester. Kruskal Wallis unpaired test was used to compare the mean values between groups and Mann Whitney U test was used to carry out pair wise comparison. Results: Flexural strength of CAD-CAM samples were found to be statistically highest followed by injection molded specimens. Conversely, Impact strength of injection- molded specimens were highest followed by CAD-CAM specimens. Flexural as well as impact strength values were found to be least among compression-molded specimens. Conclusion: CAD-CAM specimens exhibited higher flexural strength whereas Injection-molded specimens had the highest impact strength.","PeriodicalId":378561,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PROSTHODONTICS AND IMPLANTOLOGY","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131763896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The treatment option for patients with few teeth include overdentures, immediate dentures or transitional dentures. Transitional dentures are better treatment options as most of the patients defer getting all their teeth extracted. A relatively new type of transitional denture is Cu-sil denture. It is essentially a complete denture with holes which may or may not be lined with rubber gasket, allowing remaining natural teeth to protrude through. This case report represents a simple and economical technique to fabricate Cu-sil denture.","PeriodicalId":378561,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PROSTHODONTICS AND IMPLANTOLOGY","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116173452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increased alveolar bone resorption in mandible will lead to prosthetic concerns such as loss of retention and stability in the mandibular denture. Conventional removable complete dentures have long been the treatment of choice for complete edentulism, but it comparatively provides compromised retention, stability and poor masticatory efficiency, at times failing to meet expectations of the patients. To overcome these drawbacks, while retaining some of the remaining natural teeth which will aid in improved retention, stability and support, the concept of overdenture is seen as a patient-friendly and more successful alternative to conventional complete dentures. This case report discusses about the step by step procedure for the fabrication of a bar retained tooth-supported mandibular over-denture that opposes a conventional complete maxillary denture with an identification mark (Photographic method).","PeriodicalId":378561,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PROSTHODONTICS AND IMPLANTOLOGY","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122915561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This flaw has a direct influence on the emotional, social, and psychological well-being of the afflicted. The flaws can be repaired in a number of methods, including prosthetic rehabilitation and surgical reconstruction. The two most challenging components of the treatment are preserving the ear projection during the first phases of auricle repair utilizing grafts and flaps, as well as avoiding the postauricular sulcus from re-epithelizing and obliterating the vestibule. Prosthodontists can address this issue by designing stents that retain the projection of a rebuilt auricle. This case study describes the production procedure as well as the method of retention for an ear stent.","PeriodicalId":378561,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PROSTHODONTICS AND IMPLANTOLOGY","volume":"03 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129447074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the pandemic, the availability of food and emotional support has decreased in old age homes, and this must have affected the nutritional status and emotional wellbeing of the geriatric individuals. Aim: To evaluate and correlate the association between the nutritional status and emotional wellbeing of geriatric individuals during covid-19 pandemic with dentition and prosthetic rehabilitation. Materials and method: The questionnaire consisted of three sections which included. Demographic data and dental status, WHO approved Mini Nutritional Assessment Short Form (MNA-SF) and WHO approved Emotional well-being five scale. We also compared the BMI of geriatric elders before 6 months of Covid-19 and during Covid-19. 112 participants were enrolled from 9 government old age homes in Tamilnadu, India. Data were collected and subjected to statistical testing. Simple frequency analysis and Chi square test were used. Result: 70.5% of geriatric elders had poor emotional wellbeing and 65.1% were malnourished during this pandemic. Dentition status showed that 51.7% were completely edentulous and 74.1% were without prosthetic rehabilitation. Statistical significance results were found when comparing nutritional status & emotional wellbeing with dentition and prosthetic rehabilitation status of elders during COVID-19. Conclusion: Older adults’ mental health was negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, whereas dentition and prosthetic rehabilitation status indirectly affect the mental health of elders through malnutrition. As a prosthodontist, who provide geriatric care, treating the elders by looking beyond the teeth, will help to improve overall wellbeing of these individuals.","PeriodicalId":378561,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF CLINICAL PROSTHODONTICS AND IMPLANTOLOGY","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131118841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
