For the full advantage of the client, legal professionals can use their experience or refer to relevant previous judicial evidence to prescribe the course of action. Comprehending prior legal proceedings and contextualizing the insights to a given user profile is a challenging task. Earlier work has primarily concentrated on the case records and recommended material retrieval, judgment, and law sources recommendations. In contrast, we present a template-based recommendation system based on the user’s profile and insights obtained from similar past cases. We use natural language processing techniques to parse the relevant text to create user-specific legal insights. Our system uses these insights to populate a template to provide the final recommendations to the user. We demonstrate the system with two case studies: parental alienation and divorce cases. Our system shows promising results in creating meaningful insights and recommendations.","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"19 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132812106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bandyopadhyay, Swaroop Joshi","doi":"10.1145/3452383.3453718","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1145/3452383.3453718","url":null,"abstract":"Computers control increasing numbers of objects in our daily life: phones, aircraft, cars, buildings, manufacturing machines, musical instruments, etc. In these so-called cyber-physical systems (CPSs), computers interact directly with the physical world through sensors and actuators. Those systems are becoming the key infrastructure and backbone of our society and are at the heart of revolutionary changes in our daily lives and economy. The sophistication and complexity of CPSs keep increasing since they must realize more functions with limited resources, which makes them increasingly difficult to build and manage. In particular, the cyber (software) part of these systems is growing rapidly and has become a key part of CPS, as they are the basis of operation for these systems. Artificial intelligence (AI) has a fundamental influence on the economy, administration, and society. AI is now also affecting software engineering, providing robust approaches for software development to analyze and evaluate complex software and its development processes. Repository mining, machine learning, big data analytics, and software visualization enable targeted insights and powerful predictions for software quality, software development, and software project management. The research community has shown a keen interest in this emerging field. This report presents a summary of the workshop held on February 2021 at KIT Bhubaneswar, co-located with the 14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC 2021).","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"756 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133770604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, since there can be many different categories of “users”, with different goals and different ways of interacting with software, this term tends to obscure these important distinctions. To a large part, this problem can be attributed to the unique culture of software programming – which emphasizes code to the exclusion of other important considerations. In this keynote talk, we explore the nature of this culture and overview some innovative software engineering methods and research initiatives designed to avoid these issues.","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"195 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122383677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vulnerabilities related information is also available on open web in an unstructured format that developers may leverage to fix security weaknesses in their IT applications. SQL Injection (SQLi) is one of the topmost vulnerabilities impacting the security of IT applications. We propose an approach to identify information about SQLi in text using text summarization to process any length of text, and a supervised machine learning model to automate the classification of SQLi. To validate the proposed approach, we created a dataset of 100,019 entries that includes 50,010 entries of SQLi from the National Vulnerability Database, 25,010 near negatives related to other cyber security vulnerabilities, and 24,999 data entries that are unrelated to cyber security. The selected Random Forest model was also tested identify SQLi from Web and Twitter text.","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122733047","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) provides the organization with a framework that makes the management of information technology systems affordable and manageable. Service-Based Systems(SBS) need to adapt themselves over time to fit in the new client prerequisites. These outcomes in the weakening of the software systems quality and plan and may cause the emergence of poor solutions called Anti-patterns. An anti-pattern is a repeated application of code or design that leads to a bad outcome. The research uncovered that the presence of anti-patterns thwarts the software systems advancement and maintenance. The early prediction of these anti-pattern using extracted features from source code helps to reduce the software system’s maintenance and enhance the quality of the software. This present work’s ideology is to investigate the viability of different data sampling technique variants empirically and the machine learning technique, Naive Bayes, in the anti-patterns prediction in web services.","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124799051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The underlying assumptions being: objectives for the software system and the environment within which it will operate will remain largely unchanged; and the required information is available fully and with total certainty. Software development is then viewed as a refinement exercise from high-level human-understandable requirements to a deterministic machine-executable implementation. However, for a variety of reasons, these assumptions no longer hold. This calls for a new look at engineering software that’s expected to deliver on the stated objectives in an everchanging environment characterized with partial information and inherent uncertainty. The workshop aims to brainstorm this emerging challenge of ”Software Engineering for the Uncertain World”.","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"291 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121829141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Test suite minimization is one of the regression testing techniques which takes a test suite and provides a minimized test suite (representative set) which is sufficient to cover all the requirements. This significantly helps in reducing the testing cost, effort and time. In this paper, we perform an empirical study on standard minimization techniques: Greedy, Greedy Essential (GE) and Greedy Redundant Essential (GRE), to compare their minimized test suite size (output size), and their run time to calculate the minimized test suite, with varying percentage of essential test cases. We assume that the number of requirements that a test case satisfies is a random variable which follows a normal distribution. This study analyzes trends in both output size and run time of the heuristics and enables us to set guidelines for the testing team to choose appropriate heuristics for performing the test suite minimization for all possible values of ratio of overlapping (defined as the average number of test cases which satisfy a requirement).","PeriodicalId":378352,"journal":{"name":"14th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (formerly known as India Software Engineering Conference)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-02-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128775635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
