The maximally stable extremal regions (MSER) method is usually used to extract text regions. Images must be converted to grayscale to process with the MSER method. However, the performance of MSER by using grayscale images has a poor ability of capturing regions of interest in bad conditions such as high-contrast, low-luminance, much light reflection, and so on. An MSER system with a contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) instead of conventional MSER is therefore proposed. CLAHE is utilized as a pre-processing method in MSER to detect text regions. The proposed method achieves a precision of 81% and a recall of 82%. With advance development of pervasive technology, wearable device with multiple sensors can be effectively used as instruments to remotely supervise patient condition at any place and any time. However, this requires dynamically scale storage resources to handle tremendous amount of data that generated from various sensors. So the public cloud suits this requirement very well, as it provides high scalable data storage service with effective cost. But data confidentiality and privacy are still challenging issues, because cloud infrastructure is maintained by the third party, so data is security compromised and generally prone to potential treats. We therefore propose architecture with security schemes that aim to overcome this challenge. The architecture supports mobile application that continuously monitors patient health condition in the secure way. The security scheme is based on public key infrastructure to protect confidentiality, privacy and authenticity of personal data. In the modified PSO algorithm, another adjusting factor is added into the velocity updating formula to enhance the algorithm’s search capacity. On the basis of a series of input-output data pairs, we wish that the modified PSO approach can successfully solve for the unknown parameters of the Volterra digital system. The whole design steps based on the modified PSO is presented for parameter estimations. Besides, different sets of algorithm initial conditions are examined to confirm the feasibility and robustness. Hsia","doi":"10.18178/ijfcc.2017.6.3.495","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18178/ijfcc.2017.6.3.495","url":null,"abstract":"Data mining is a useful tool to analyze healthcare information and identify personal behavior patterns for policy decision-making., The purpose of this study is to identify healthy and unhealthy families using the household income and expenditure database and to analyze the difference of household healthcare expenditures among the healthy and unhealthy lifestyle groups. The database was composed of the data of the DGBAS surveys over 40 years. The methods in this study were descriptive analyses, ANOVA, cluster analysis, and the Chi-square test. The descriptive results showed there were four types of groups, including Smoker, Alcoholic, Unhealthy diet, and Healthy lifestyle. The healthcare expenditure of the Healthy lifestyle group was significantly lower than that of the other three unhealthy lifestyle groups. Keeping a healthy lifestyle is important for a family since it may decrease healthcare expenditure. On the other hand, the learners' online learning time, e.g. the time of watching the teaching video, can be acquired and recorded easily on most learning platforms. In this paper, we try to establish an EKF model on the exam/test achievement and the learning time, and use the model to predict the achievement in the next exam.
