Given the religio-cultural heritage of its people, it was quite natural for the current research to engage with a new Islamic peace model with the intention of gaining some clarity on the possibility of its application. The methodological framework is based on the main normative religious text and is simultaneously informed by the practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The study’s findings render the model difficult to be implemented without the erection of certain provisionary structures, which would create a strong institutional and morally saturated foundation to secure long-lasting peace.","PeriodicalId":37763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67506144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ministry of religion introduced policies that are scientific and rational so that they have an impact on changing Islamic worship procedures. These policies are fully supported by the Indonesian Muslim Scholar Council and various mainstream Islamic organizations, such as Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama. This can be attributed to their moderate and accommodative attitude toward government policies. However, some Muslim scholars seem irrational, rejecting the existence of and dangers associated with COVID-19. Irrational attitudes are often expressed openly and become viral on social media. Meanwhile, the government and mainstream Islamic organizations are conducting intensive socialization and education that are rational and proactive in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Sometimes, they change to the path of rational choice by supporting government policies so as not to trigger problems.","PeriodicalId":37763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67506445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Beginning with Richard Hooker, Anglican political thought was shaped by the need to balance competing principles. For high church Anglicans, the monarchy was seen as the institution best positioned to defend this balance against what they saw as the twin threats of \"Puritanism and popery.\" However, high churchmen also began to defend a high view of episcopacy even over against the power of the English government, introducing a tension between royal supremacy and high church Anglicanism with implications for both nationalist and integralist conceptions of the state. This culminated in the nonjurors—Anglican clergy and academics removed from their posts for refusing to swear oaths to William and Mary—defending episcopacy against both the new king and defenders of royal supremacy. The example of high church Anglicans demonstrates some perils of both nationalist and integralist approaches to politics for many religious forms of traditional conservatism.","PeriodicalId":37763,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75721387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
