The impact of a nanoclay filler is investigated on the DC conductivity of a matrix loaded with different concentrations of MWCNT in order to evaluate the improvements on the dispersion of CNT inside the epoxy matrix. The dispersion is deemed to be very influencing on the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposite. A detailed morphological and structural characterization allows to interpret the electrical behaviour of the nanocomposites.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126715710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed snubber can control the EMI effects caused by the switching actions which can affect the drive circuit. Appropriate use of the snubber and considering the parasitic elements in the switching circuits can improve the conducted EMI of the converter, eliminating the need for the bulky EMI filters. To design an effective snubber circuit, a physics based model of the switch and the snubber circuit components are considered. Using impedance control method, the effects of various parasitic elements that can cause the common-mode noise can be controlled. This effort enables the evaluation of interference issues for EMC evaluation studies early in the design process. The numerical results were validated experimentally.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124902069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The IN influence on Power Line Communications (PLC) has been proved to be very harmful. A particular feature of PLC standards is the prohibition of signal power transmission at the frequency bands used by radio amateurs, which are referred to as the masked tones; however when IN arrives at the receiver, it is expected some IN leakage into these masked tones in the same way as into the rest of the PLC spectrum. We present an IN cancelling method which removes the IN from the received signal by analyzing the IN components at the masked tones.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124468268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed technique is based on circuit, electrostatic field, and full-wave simulations. The circuit simulation is performed to obtain the currents which is used as the input excitation in the subsequent full-wave simulation. A circuit to be analyzed is the equivalent circuit model of an ESD generator attached with a ground strap and a target object. Meanwhile, we perform the electrostatic field simulation in order to calculate electric field distribution around the generator charged before the discharging phase. Finally, a computational domain excluding the ESD generator and the ground strap is analyzed by means of the full-wave simulation based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. In other words, we do the full-wave simulation for only a part of the whole computational domain by using the input currents as external effects to the target object. Because the hybrid simulation can take a low computational cost relative to existing full-wave techniques, it can reduce the total CPU time and the amount of memory consumption. We compare the accuracy and the CPU time of our approach with those of the conventional FDTD solver to show the adequacy of the hybrid simulation method.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122571517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wind turbine is represented by a simple wire structure, while the lightning channel is represented by an equivalent lossy vertical wire attached to the wind turbine. The entire structure is energized by an ideal voltage source at the junction point. The analysis is based on the solution of the set of Pocklington integro-differential equations for arbitrary wires above the ground in the frequency domain. The corresponding transient response is obtained by means of Inverse Fourier transform. The set of Pocklington integro-differential equations is solved by the Galerkin-Bubnov Indirect Boundary Element Method.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130435272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These new principles are developed based on a newly simplified analytical expression for the radiation from a microstrip line. The principles suggest that using dual shunt open stubs with low characteristic impedance can reduce the undesired radiation, but the use of dual shunt short stubs should be avoided due to the extra via radiation. To further suppress the radiation, the series line before the load and shunt stubs should have high characteristic impedance. According to the proposed principles, the radiation from a well-designed impedance transformer can be suppressed by more than 5 dB.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129897940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current may stimulate muscle and peripheral nerves. The in-situ electric fields are computed and compared in anatomically based models of adults and child due to contact current from charged human body. Frequency-dependent finite-difference time-domain method was used, in which biological tissue is assumed to obey a 4-pole Debye model. From our computational results, discharge current was almost identical to each other for the models of adults and child. The time course of the induced electric field in the child was different primary because of the difference in the human body capacitance. The induced electric fields in the fingers were comparable to each other in different models. The computed induced electric field at the threshold charge inducing electro-stimulation was in fair agreement with the threshold electric field estimated from a strength-duration curve.","PeriodicalId":377100,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC EUROPE","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129914512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
