A novel high-precision hidden surface removal approach using fast ray-tube splitting algorithm is proposed, where the SAR scene hidden surface removal problem is decomposed into two simple procedures, i.e. a Delaunay triangulator is used to generate the initial ray tubes from the projected point clouds of all incident visible vertices, then an adaptive ray-tube splitting method is adopted to carry out the complex scene shading situations and resultant visible model reconstruction. Simulation results of typical aircraft and T-72 tank show that, the new approach is feasible and effective.","PeriodicalId":37701,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Radars","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70073256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a compressive sensing SAR imaging method based on wavelet packet sparse representation. The wavelet packet algorithm is used to choose the most sparse representation of the SAR scene by training the same type of SAR images. By solving for the minimum 1 l norm optimization, the SAR scene reflection coefficients can be reconstructed. Unambiguous SAR images can be produced with the proposed method, even with fewer samples. SAR data simulation experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":37701,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Radars","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70074265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to effectively extract the information of eddies from the SAR images. In this paper, we present a method based on logarithmic spiral edge fitting for the extraction of information from SAR images, and it is capable of extracting the eddy center, eddy diameter, and the size of the eddy edge. Based on this method, an experiment is conducted to extract eddy information from a sequence of SAR images acquired by ENVISAT ASAR and ERS-2. The information pertaining to two eddies and their movements can be obtained. The validity of the method can be verified by making comparisons with the pseudo-color composite results.","PeriodicalId":37701,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Radars","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70073730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A SAR feature extraction algorithm based on a multilayer auto-encoder is proposed. The method makes use of a probabilistic neural network and Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) modeling probability distribution of the environment. Through the formation of a more expressive multilayer neural network, the deep learning model learns the shared representation of the target and its shadow outline reflecting the target shape characteristics. Targets are classified automatically through two recognition models. The experiment results based on the MSTAR verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":37701,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Radars","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70074629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reliably estimate the center frequency and bandwidth of the clutter spectrum, the echo power in each range cell is used to design a dual-threshold controlled adaptive notch filter. This filter can reject the maximum amount of ground clutter, while reducing the effect of clutter residue on the wind shear signal. Results of our simulation have confirmed that this method has a superior clutter suppression performance, and can effectively improve the wind speed estimate accuracy of the wind shear signal.","PeriodicalId":37701,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Radars","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70074193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
