This study explores the relationship between remittances, exports, and economic development in Bangladesh. Using the Johansen co-integration approach, the study finds evidence of co-integration among the variables. The results also show that remittances have a significant positive effect on the gross domestic product (GDP) of Bangladesh, while exports do not have a direct impact on GDP. Furthermore, the Granger causality test reveals that there is no significant and positive relationship between remittances and exports. The study suggests that remittances play a vital role in the economic development of Bangladesh by creating employment opportunities, increasing the level of reserves amount, making payments on imports, balancing the balance of payments, and developing other socio-economic aspects. This is especially important in a country where unemployment is a significant issue, and every day the rate of unemployment is increasing. Therefore, policymakers should take into consideration the potential risks and benefits of migration and remittances and adopt appropriate policies to mitigate any negative impacts. Overall, this study contributes to the literature on the impact of remittances and exports on economic development and provides important policy implications for reducing unemployment in Bangladesh.  JEL: F02; F14; F24  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":376871,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Economic and Financial Research","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126735848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It soon becomes clear that traditional accounting systems are actively anti-lean. Lean accounting refers to the concepts designed to better reflect the financial performance of a company that has implemented lean service processes. These may include organizing costs by value stream, changing inventory valuation techniques and modifying financial statements to include nonfinancial information (Alves, Vieira Neto, de Mattos Nascimento, de Andrade, Tortorella, & Garza-Reyes, 2022). The study sought to establish whether Lean Accounting influences the financial performance of Commercial Banks in Kenya. The study was guided by the Lean Philosophy model. The study used a cross-sectional research design and targeted employees working in all t8 commercial banks in Eldoret town, Kenya. A census of the study population was conducted. Questionnaires were used as data collection instruments. The data was analyzed using both inferential (multiple regression and correlation) and descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation) and was presented by the use of tables and charts. The study findings indicated that the study variables Lean Accounting β = 0.209, p < 0.05 were significant to financial performance. The results showed that Lean Accounting was a positive and significant predictor of financial performance with (t = 3.250; ρ < 0.05). The study recommended that the management of commercial banks in Kenya should strive to maintain the current lean accounting practices and further increase or improve them in order to enhance the banks’ value. They should also train staff on the use of Lean Accounting techniques in order to be able to improve their performance. JEL: G20; G21; M40","PeriodicalId":376871,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Economic and Financial Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116856562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past few years, the world has been evolving at light speed, and consumers must keep up with this fast-paced development. The technological era has changed purchasing habits so much that consumers have turned to online shopping, and vendors have explored the digitalization of product search and sales. With the impact of the pandemic, the digital age has taken over the world at a glance more than ever before. Online shopping offers consumers convenience, ease, comfort, time savings, hassle-free delivery, better price options, vast vendors, and many other obvious benefits. Since consumers are no longer restricted to a particular location or time for their purchases, this study seeks to understand factors that affect customers' online purchasing behaviour in Klang Valley, Malaysia. This study focuses on five components: perceived benefits, perceived risks, hedonic motivation, website design, and psychological dimensions. These five components have been chosen as the independent variables, with online purchase behaviour as the dependent variable. For data collection, self-administered questionnaires were distributed through social media. A total of 387 responses were collected. Findings obtained from this study indicated that perceived benefits, perceived risks, hedonic motivation, and website design are significant for consumers' online purchasing behaviour. In contrast, this study discovered that psychological dimensions are insignificant to consumers' online purchasing behaviour.JEL: A10, A12, A13  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":376871,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Economic and Financial Research","volume":"83 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114231137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Africa accounts for about 13% of the world´s population and includes 54 countries, of which 38 have coastline access along the continent´s 30,490 Km of coastline and 16 are landlocked. However, 90% of the volume of cargo between Africa and the world is transported by sea, which typifies the importance of port infrastructure in economic development. This research presents a comparative analysis of the port infrastructures in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) based on the weight capacity that the ports support, waiting time for ships in ports, the connection of infrastructure networks, the growth of GDP per capita and the entry of ships in the country during the year by type of cargo. Similarly, determinant factors of port infrastructure management were identified. The objective is to characterize the competitive position of Angolan’s port infrastructure in the SADC context. The results show that Angola’s port infrastructure is not the worst in SADC. However, the lack of good roads and railroads reduce its competitiveness in relation to Namibian and South African port infrastructure. The statement of research problem is that, there is a defect in the competitive advantage of horticultural sector as a result of improper application of strategic leadership. The research main question was that, is there an impact of applying, the strategic leadership on competitive advantage of horticulture sector in Khartoum State? The research aims at identifying the relationship between strategic leadership and competitive advantage in the horticultural sector in Khartoum state. The study reached out a number of results most important of it: it works to enhance the competitive advantage between organizations, namely organizations concerned with the agricultural sector. Concentration on leadership and pioneers has become an urgent necessity to keep pace with the rapid development in various sciences, especially agricultural sciences. The study recommended, that attention should be made to infrastructure and export including but not limited to transportation, communication, storage, cooling, packaging, repackaging and display, which had a significant impact on Sudanese exports, facilitating the import of improved seeds and working to establish the seed industry locally, exempting horticultural crops from all fees and taxes, urging organizations to import fertilizers and pesticides to treat horticultural crops, and exempt them from customs duties, producing horticultural crops that compete in the markets by paying attention to fight pests that prevent the growth of crops, distorts their shape, and deviate them from competition in global markets. The study recommended that, there should be an integrated marketing information center to be close to embassies, economic and commercial attaches, encouraging participation in foreign fairs, creating partnerships with foreign investors in the field of horticultural exports marketing to create opportunities in global markets.JEL: Q10; Q13; O12  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":376871,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Economic and Financial Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125830522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it presented the trends and movements of a balance of payments, interest rate, inflation rate, gross domestic product growth rate, and real exchange from 1981 to 2019. The study used Johansen Co-integration, Granger Causality, and Vector Autoregression (VAR) models to analyze this study. Johansen's Co-integration analysis revealed that the determinants of the balance of payments interest rate (IR), inflation rate (INF), an exchange rate (EX), and real GDP are rejected at a 5% significant level. On the other hand, unrestricted VAR model, there exists a relationship between the balance of payments (BOP), interest rate (IR), and inflation rate (INF). Granger causality test results revealed that BOP does not Granger cause IR and INF does not Granger cause BOP are rejected at the 5% significant level because the causality test results are significant. BOP and IR have a unidirectional relationship. Moreover, results show that there is unidirectional causality generally running from the balance of payment (BOP) to the interest rate (IR) and inflation rate (INF) to the balance of payment (BOP).JEL: H10; H20; H30","PeriodicalId":376871,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Economic and Financial Research","volume":"312 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126214593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
