One of the efforts is traditional medicinal herbs, especially traditional Indonesian medicine or 'jamu', used empirically to increase immunity. The literature review aimed to describe the formula of traditional medicinal herbs in Indonesia to maintain health and fitness during the Covid-19 pandemic. The literature review searched articles on Pubmed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The selected articles were the last ten years' articles. The keyword was 'Covid-19 and herbs and immunostimulant or immunomodulator and Indonesia'. The article was published the last ten (10) years, in English or Indonesian, and discusses traditional medicinal herbs for maintaining health and fitness during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The selection was made by reading the title, , and full article to analyze the quality of the research. Data extraction was carried out to describe the formula's name, simplicia of the ingredients, pharmacological activity, and secondary metabolites. The literature review found five (5) articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria with thirteen (13) formulas. The formula was jamu, and the formula was from traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. Each formula contained simplicia that support each other's properties for health and fitness maintenance. The simplicity was used as an immunomodulator, reducing the symptoms of Covid-19 and overcoming the comorbid factors that accompany the Covid-19 disease. The government's efforts to increase the independent actions of healthy life in Indonesia can be supported by traditional herbs. © 2023 Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education & Research","PeriodicalId":37660,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education and Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70815598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This reason but either the fact that the skin is not intact are predisposition factors why patients with Pemphigus vulgaris are predisposed to infections. We aimed to study the frequency of infections, categorical and numeric variables related to infection, in Pemphigus vulgaris s patients admitted to dermatology service. This retrospective study was conducted on 130 patients diagnosed with Pemphigus vulgaris and hospitalized at Dermatology Clinic during the year 2020-2022. The diagnosis of Pemphigus vulgaris was confirmed by biopsy and indirect/direct immunofluorescence findings. Data were collected through the charts in the Statistics Department, in UHC \"Mother Teresa\", Tirana, Albania. 130 patients (70 males, 60 females) were hospitalized in UHC \" Mother Theresa) during the period 2020-20122. 48.69% of patients had infections. The occurrence of infection was significantly related to the severity of the disease, multiple admissions, and hospitalization duration. The most frequent infections encountered: are skin infections, urinary infections, pulmonary infections, and opportunistic infections (candida). The most common pathogenic germs isolated from cultures were Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Infections are the most common complication among patients treated for Pemphigus vulgaris. Patients with longer duration disease and hospitalization have a higher probability to develop infections, mainly skin infections. Due to the limitations of a retrospective study, we recommend a prospective study.","PeriodicalId":37660,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education and Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70822002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the items that assess the success of online learning is students' perception. This study investigates pharmacy students' perception of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in Saudi Arabia and discovers the major barriers to e-learning. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The study was carried out among pharmacy students in Saudi Arabia in the period between September 2020 and May 2021. A 5-point Likert scale format was used to assess students' level of satisfaction. A total of 2030 students from different pharmacy colleges in Saudi Arabia completed the survey. Of these students, 87.5% praised the effectiveness of online learning. Approximately, 85% were satisfied and encourage e-learning continuation in the future. Barriers facing the students during the e-learning were categorized into access and personal barriers. Among access barriers, technical problems were the most common (59%). Whereas discomfort with online education was the most personal barrier (56.2%). The current study showed positive perceptions among pharmacy students in Saudi Arabia towards online learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, most students were pleased with their experience and encouraged online learning to continue in the future. The most common barriers to online learning were lack of internet access and poor connection as well as the students' discomfort with online education. © 2023 Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education & Research","PeriodicalId":37660,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education and Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ondansetron is a 5 ‐ hydroxytryptamine receptor antagonist used for chemotherapy and radiotherapy ‐ induced nausea and emesis. The study was performed using Wistar albino rats weighing 200 ±20 g divided into two groups (6 of each). A dose of 0.28 mg of ondansetron, equivalent to 140 µl, was administered as an oral solution for the first group. Ondansetron-loaded invasomes gel was prepared, optimized, and applied on rat skin at a dose of 0.1652 mg of ondansetron, equivalent to 41 mg weight of invasomes gel for the second group. In addition, ondansetron was determined in rat plasma using HPLC apparatus and applying a modified HPLC method after validation. A comparison of primary pharmacokinetic parameters for both routes was performed. Results showed that C max , T max , AUC 0-24, and AUC 0-∞ were 58±3.4 ng/ml, 2±0.2 h., 246.25±47.6 ng.h./ml, and 259.4±57.7, respectively, for oral solution and 36±2.9 ng/ml, 5±0.5 h., 390.5±5.2 ng.h./ml and 442.8±66.1 ng.h./ml., respectively for transdermal invasomes gel. Results showed that the time and concentration needed to achieve the maximum effect (C max and T max ) were significantly different between oral and transdermal routes ( p <0.05). The relative bioavailability for the transdermal route was 2.9 times that of the oral route after a single dose administered for 24 h. In conclusion, the prepared invasomes gel enhanced the bioavailability of ondansetron, and transdermal delivery could be considered a vital delivery system for ondansetron.","PeriodicalId":37660,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Advanced Pharmacy Education and Research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70823197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
