The problems based on AMP are complex in nature as it consisted of parameters which are interdependent. These problems also consisted of linear and nonlinear constraints. This makes the problem complex which may not be solved using traditional optimization techniques. The optimization of process parameters is indispensable to use AMP's at its aptness and to make it economical to use. This paper states the optimization of process parameters of Ultrasonic machining (USM) and Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) processes to maximize the Material Removal Rate (MRR) using a socio inspired Cohort Intelligent (CI) algorithm. The constraints involved with these problems are handled using static penalty function approach. The solutions are compared with other contemporary techniques such as Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Artificial Bee Colony (ABC), Modified Harmony Search (HS_M) and Genetic Algorithm (GA).","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58005171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Improper supplier selection causes an adverse impact on functioning and development of any organization. Evaluating available suppliers and selecting most suitable supplier is very important task of procurement management. Theses selection problems can be solve using decision making methods. These methods are used to find most preferred alternative from given set of alternatives based on different attributes. The aim of the present work is to select raw material supplier for cold-rolled mild steel manufacturing industry using selected three decision making methods such as complex proportional assessment, operational competiveness rating analysis and preference selection index, etc. The selection is made among five suppliers based on five attributes viz: performance rating, productivity, yield, cost and lead time. The analytical hhierarchy process is used for determining weight of the attributes based on relative importance of each attribute which can have a great impact on the final solution. It is found from the ranks obtained using selected three methods that supplier S1 is best and supplier S5 is worst among the others alternatives. It is also observed that the rankings of suppliers has some deviations in the rankings due to different mathematical approaches used in these three selected methods. The proposed methods help to evaluate and rank different raw material suppliers for manufacturing industries.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58005714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the low conductivity and reactivity towards plastic deformation causes these materials to be difficult to cut category. The prediction of various parameters like chip formation and actual cutting forces are important factors for better machinability which involves lot of resources. To overcome such issues, this work proposes three-dimensional FE approach to simulate the machinability behavior of Ti-6Al-4V especially on conventional turning. The impact of cutting speed and feed rate on the cutting force, thrust force, feed force and surface roughness were analyzed experimentally for various conditions. The predicted machining forces showed strong correlation with the experimental results and the effective von mises stress were examined.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58002549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The factors of 200000 time step (fs) total ejective time of total 200 000 time steps (fs) and various compressible forces of 9.0 × 10−10, 10.0 × 10−10 and 11.0 × 10−10 Newton (N) are main investigated in this research. These influences have action to the moveable direction of fluid jet in the whole ejective process. The research result indicates that liquid jet is prepared to separate out from nozzle plate's surface to form up droplets at the ejective time of 140 000 fs for the nozzle diameter size of 27.5 Angstrom (Å), system temperature of 310 Kelvin (K) and compressible force magnitude of 9.0 × 10−10 (N). However, when increasing the ejective time or compressible force magnitude, the jets were not only non-destruction from nozzle's surface to produce the droplets but also downward movement to go back the nozzle's surface. Meanwhile, with the nozzle diameter size of 40 Å, the droplets are not only production but also movement up to go away the nozzle under same research condition. Those prove that the ejective time and compressible force magnitude have the influences to the moveable direction of fluid jet in the whole ejective process.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58004335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Initially critical buckling load (Pcr) is obtained, then followed by free vibration response and inherent material damping values for corresponding modal indices of the FRP plate is calculated for different load fraction of non-uniform uniaxial edge loads. The buckling load and free vibration response are obtained by using strain energy method and Reddy's TSDT respectively. It is observed that the nature of load and aspect ratio influence the bucking, free vibration and inherent material damping behaviour of the fibre reinforced polymer plate significantly.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58004878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper focuses on fabrication of electronic circuits using F-MWCNT/PVA conductive ink and analyses the effect of input printing process parameters namely nozzle diameter, extrusion pressure, printing speed on evaluating the electrical conductivity. Box–Behnken approach is followed to generate the levels of experiments and the performance of developed model is assessed using ANOVA. Response surface method is incorporated to find the influencing parameters on electrical conductivity response. Two-point probe measurement method is performed to analyse the output response of the printed electronic circuits. Optimized printing parameters such as nozzle diameter of 0.8 mm, extrusion pressure of 0.1 MPa and printing speed of 4 mm/sec are found to be the best the for printing electronic circuits with high electrical conductivity.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58002513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Incorporating simulated annealing algorithm in the Weibull distribution for valuation of investment return of Malaysian property development sector","authors":"H. Abubakar, Shamsul Rijal Muhammad Sabri","doi":"10.1051/smdo/2021023","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1051/smdo/2021023","url":null,"abstract":"In this study, a simulated annealing algorithm(SAA) has been incorporated in the Weibull Distribution (WD) for Valuation of Investment Return. The purpose is to examine the behaviour of investment's attractiveness in the Malaysian property development sector (MPDS) for a long-term investment period. The research intends is to produce parameters estimates of the WD using MIRR data extracted from the financial report of MPDS for 5 years investment period. The shape parameter of the WD reflects the effectiveness in maximizing the investment performance on MPDS with lower returns and is represented as the slope of the fitted line on a Weibull probability plot. The estimated results obtained using the Simulated annealing algorithm (SAA) has been compared with Differential Evolution (DE) and other existing estimation methods in terms of root mean square error (R-MSE) and coefficient of determination (R-Square). The findings revealed that Weibull distribution parameters estimated via Simulated annealing algorithm have good agreement with parameters estimated via Differential Evolution (DE) and other existing methods based on the transformed MIRR data from the MPDS. The study is expected to provide an overview of the investment behaviour for the long-term investment return in the MPDS. Therefore, SAA in estimating the WD parameters can serve as a good alternative approach for the assessment of the investment potential using MIRR data. The study will be extended to accommodate the growth rate arising from the financial data such as investment growth and insurance claim data.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58004941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The path planning plays a crucial role in bringing autonomy to the UAVs to attain the designated tasks by avoiding collision in the obstacles prone regions. Optimal path planning of UAV is considered to be a challenging issue in real time navigation during obstacle prone environments. The present article focused on implementing a well-known A* and variant of A* namely MEA* algorithm to determine an optimal path in the varied obstacle regions for the UAV applications which is novel. Simulation is performed to investigate the performance of each algorithm with respect to comparing their execution time, total distance travelled and number of turns made to reach the source to target. Further, experimental flight trails are made to examine the performance of these algorithms using a UAV. The desired position, velocity and yaw of UAV is obtained based on the waypoints of optimal path planned data and effective navigation is performed. The simulation and experimental results are compared for confirming the effectiveness of these algorithms.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58004996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tool orientation is investigated in particular. There are dominant processing parameters' optimizations from various perspectives, whereas a few comprehensive strategies have been proposed to determine machining conditions in filleted end milling. It is also practically scarce to discover the optimization strategy taking path interval determination as the theoretical fountainhead. In this study, theoretical approaches were described to determine machining conditions affecting machined surface topography in filleted end milling. After geometrical description was arranged to model multi-axis filleted end milling, multi-layer approach and the other computable parameters were proposed to obtain decent surface topography generated in filleted end milling. The analytical example focusing on tool orientation was provided with discussion. As a result, some characteristics of theoretical approaches were revealed with the visual evidences. Finally, optimal tool orientation will be arranged based on the findings.","PeriodicalId":37601,"journal":{"name":"International Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58005001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
