CDC and SDC have mechanisms for maintaining clusters against nodes join and leave, but both methods do not assume frequent changes in the network topology. In this paper, we propose a lightweight distributed clustering method called SBDC (Schelling-Based Distributed Clustering), which is inspired by Schelling's model -- a popular segregation model in sociology. We also evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed SBDC in environment with frequent changes in the network topology. Our simulation results show that SBDC outperforms CDC and SDC under frequent changes in the network topology caused by high node mobility.","PeriodicalId":375709,"journal":{"name":"2012 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114147340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Finding efficient protocols of the Secure Multiparty Computation(SMC) is one active research area in the field of privacy preserving data mining (PPDM). The efficiency of privacy preserving data mining is crucial to many times-sensitive applications. In this paper, we study various efficient fundamental secure building blocks such as Fast Secure Matrix Multiplication(FSMP), Secure Scalar Product (SSP), and Secure Inverse of Matrix Sum (SIMS). They are supportively embedded the enhanced features into conventional data mining. We evaluate time/space efficiency on the different protocols. Experimental results are shown that there is a trade-off of accuracy and efficiency in the secured multiparty protocols targeted on semi honest party PPDM. It is therefore articulated that dimensionality reduction techniques such as Fisher Discriminant, Graph, Lapalician, and Support Vector Machine, should be used to preprocess the data. Key contributions of this paper include, besides providing some analyses of accuracy and efficiency, are commendation on further directions for computational efficiency improvement for multiparty online real data PPDM in cloud computing platforms (private and public).","PeriodicalId":375709,"journal":{"name":"2012 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117077141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A hetero-core spliced optical fiber SPR sensor introduced in our study is able to provide both data communications and sensing functions in the same fiber line simultaneously. Our study uses a fiber sensor covered with Tantalum Pent oxide (Ta2O5) that allows the data transmission distance to be extended with a wavelength of 1310nm for a wide area monitoring. Our novel sensor system can gather remotely-observed environmental data from the monitoring points and deliver them to an operator on a real-time basis.","PeriodicalId":375709,"journal":{"name":"2012 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117282954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A requirement of stream data processing is to provide persistence to stream data. This is simple, however it is not a trivial problem because, to provide persistence to data, data should be written to a persistent device such as disk. Disk access speed tends to be degraded by random accesses, and multiple queries exacerbate the problem. In this paper, we propose an efficient archiving method for data streams. The first technique is referred to as \"operator merge.\" It merges multiple operators to a single operator. Since the number of operators accessing the disk is reduced from N to 1 for each stream, the number of disk accesses is reduced, thereby accelerating archiving. The second technique is referred to as \"write control. \" It divides archiving procedures into three parts, it then assigns threads for each part so that the threads run simultaneously. The first thread conducts operators, the second writes tuples to a shared intermediate region on disk, and the third reads tuples from it and finalizes the writing of tuples. Controlling the threads so that they do not interfere with disk accesses accelerates archiving. Experiments showed that our proposal dramatically improved performance compared with the naïve method. With a tuple size of 10KB, our proposed system did not violate any deadline misses until the input rate reached 100 tuples /s.","PeriodicalId":375709,"journal":{"name":"2012 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126816422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Localization is an essential prerequisite for many WSN applications, and is often based on beacons that provide geographical information in real time. Mobile Beacons (MB) can be used to replace many static beacons with paths that can be controlled in real-time. Robotic and/or flight vehicles can work as MBs. In this paper we consider the use of reinforcement learning (RL) (a significant branch of machine learning) to control MBs. Usually, RL needs an infinite series of episodes to determine an optimal policy. We propose however a method of localization employing mobile beacon whose behavior will be controlled by an adapted RL algorithm. A MB learns and makes decisions based on weighted information collected from unknown sensors. Simulation results show that the adapted RL algorithm provides sufficient information to the MB to localise unknown sensors in a lightweight but effective way.","PeriodicalId":375709,"journal":{"name":"2012 26th International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications Workshops","volume":"198 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124439960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
