Method : Through Colaizzi’s phenomenological approach, this study extracted 13 nurses who had experience in nursing DNR patients and had worked in the intensive care unit for more than a year in the intensive care unit using the objective expression method. Subjects were derived from collection and analysis. Result : Participants reported moral anguish, including the topic of ethical dilemma due to the lack of standardized regulations in the process of determining DNR status and subsequent nursing roles, and emotional confusion due to family shaking. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a program that can support the emotional conflicts and difficulties experienced by intensive care unit nurses caring for DNR patients and to provide specific nursing education for DNR care. In addition, I believe that it is necessary to establish specific guidelines to make DNR more systematic and rational, and at the same time, systematic guidelines for DNR are needed.","PeriodicalId":375444,"journal":{"name":"Korea Society of Nursing Research","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123352412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods : This descriptive study was participants comprised 140 nurses caring for COVID-19 patients in a general hospital. Questionnaire survey data were collected between February 7, 2022 and March 4, 2022, and analyzed using SPSS 23.0. Data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Result : We found that burnout negatively correlated with compassion satisfaction and positively correlated with compassion fatigue. Social support also positively correlated with compassion satisfaction and negatively correlated with compassion fatigue. The factor most significantly affecting compassion satisfaction was job satisfaction(β=-.31, p<.001), fallowed by burnout(β=-.25, p=.002), and social support(β=.25, p=.001), and the explanatory power was 39%. The factor most significantly affecting compassion fatigue was burnout(β=.54, p <.001), fallowed by social support(β=-.34, p<.001), and nursing period for patients with COVID-19(β=-.18, p =.004), and the explanatory power was 56%.
